My favorite board game ever! The awesome art by John Howe makes it so immersive. Edit: Merchants and Marauders is probably my favorite now but I still love this one.
@@PaulDarcy Sure thing! Yeah I don't know what they were thinking with the reprints. My family had the original when I was a kid but at some point it disappeared, then a couple years ago I was in a nostalgic mood and was lucky enough to find an unopened copy.
This was one of the very first cooperative games I ever played. My daughter and I took forever to finally win it, but it was wonderful once we did! I also have the first edition of the game and I love it.
+Stasia Doster I'm not very good at it and usually get smoked, sometimes before I can even get to Mordor . . . but, yeah, I do really like it and this version (Hasbro) is the best one I think. Thanks for watching along!
Im confused on how the Hobbits move up the track if no dice rolls happen, or if none of the dice rolls have a number show up. Do you somehow continue rolling until they do to reach the next location?
Can I ask this? There is another Lord Of The Rings Board Game based on Peter Jackson's Movies! The board game is split into big pieces (Kinda like a puzzle) No 1 has even done a video on it yet :( Can u do a review on it?
I don't have that game, but from what I've heard about it - it's not very good. I will likely never get it, so sorry about that. Thanks so much for watching along on this one though!
Omigosh! I was just thinking the other day after this was mentioned on the most recent Dice Tower podcast that I wish someone would do a run through of this! Lord of the Rings is my absolute favorite thing yet somehow I've never played this so I'm super stoked to see this. I've been meaning to ask, do you play the Lotr LCG by chance? And if so any chance for a run through someday? It's my favorite game right now (and has been since it came out) and it would be cool to see your take on it. PS: I have to laugh every time you say "hobbit cards". It reminds me of the term Ryan Sturm coined in reference to the small cards used in many Euros and FFG GAMES lol.
+Josh Walton Well they are called "Hobbit cards" in the Hasbro edition I have. No, I have not played nor do I own the LCG game . . . But I do like this one. Thanks for watching along!
+Paul Darcy haha oh I have no doubt that's their actual name. We've just been calling little cards "hobbit cards" for so long now I thought it was funny that there are actual hobbit cards in the world.
+Phaelen2003 Well, here is a comparison and the reviewer Raves about how much better the FFG version is . . . the whole time I was watching I was thinking - Hasbro version if far superior with maybe, and only maybe, the new cards. IMHO the FFG version is sad compared to the original Hasbro. Well, watch the video and you can make up your own mind - and thanks for watching along! ruclips.net/video/ANwxveZmo2I/видео.html
I got the new version for $8.00 from Ollies. The artwork is way better but the Sauron token and those white cones are cooler than the new. It will be easy to upgrade these. The minis are ok. For what they do, the picture standees are alright.
+jeeperscreepers7 thinking about to get one copy... I can't decide wich version to pick... price would be almost the same between old copy from ebay (good conditions) and a new one :(
Yep. Bigger boards, mini's & not standees, nice box insert that will house the game and expansions. Some prefer the new card & token art but it does nothing for the gameplay. However it's all subjective or as Einstein said: "Relative".
This was the best set up explanation I have seen on this complicated game. (I've watched a few hours of videos on this.) Thank you for your clarity.
Glad I could help out and thanks for watching along!

This is the best version as well - the new one is pretty awful. Great game though. Thanks for watching along!

Good luck! I will be rooting for you!
OMG, this is one of my most favourite game ever!!!! My first Knizia too.
I had the luck to buy this game for 3 Euro at a Flea market. And the game was complete. a really fun game even my 10 year old daughter loves it!
Great find, glad you and your daughter enjoy it - and thanks for watching along!
Great job once again Paul!
+Charlie P Thanks - and thanks for watching along!
Frodo looks like jerry Seinfeld on the card haha.
Now I can't unsee that . . . Thanks for watching along!

Hey Paul, can I ask why the FF version is inferior?

+Paul Darcy It's tits. Every time you move it, push the button and his eye lights up and it makes the Mount Doom sounds. EEK!
