    I get it some people are germaphobes....my wife is one. But that heated hose for the ResMed AirSense 10 is $89. I am not changing that out every 3 months. I clean it once a week with CPAP cleaner and it only takes a capful for a gallon of water. I have a SoClean 2 that I use every day. It turns on automatically when I am at work and cleans the mask, headgear, water chamber and heated hose. The only time I have ever had a problem with mold was when I couldn't find distilled water and was using purified baby water. Even then the only thing that got moldy was the water chamber. The aluminum plate on the bottom of my water tank has had a heat stain for awhile now but it still works fine. I think you guys are over-thinking this.

      Over TEN YEARS never cleaned, although replaced hose sometimes and air filter when I notice it. I use CPAP every day. 😊

      @@Bill-xx2yh Haha that might be the extreme in the other direction. I think they do need periodic cleaning. Just not every day.

      Mold is not the only problem. It might only happen to people that only clean their equipment every 10 years (ahem..). Something called “bio film” is the main enemy to cpap users, which is why regular washing is recommended for the equipment. It grows fast in seating water or wet surfaces, and it can harvest, carry and develop random bad bacteria, and once you get an infection from it, antibiotics might not even work well.
      If you can afford it, don’t risk your health unnecessarily. Cpap usage is not a thing of just a couple of years, so doing it wrong might create consequences in the long run. At least you’re washing regularly, but not changing the hose a few times a year could be an issue cause those are not easy to clean thoroughly. I switch mine every 4 months to be safe.
      You don’t need to be a germophobe to care about your health. You can still clean and switch your equipment as indicated cause in the end if you don’t, you would be the main person paying the consequences of it.

    Very balanced recommendations! Manufactures and some DME's want you to replace parts more often because they make more money! Remember if you do not use a CPAP it is regular air. Why should it be different with a CPAP... regular air? Ozone cleaners destroyed my CPAP Respironics Dreamstation!
    My bonus tip is to use the F&P HC150 humidifier!

    • @USAMedicalSupply
      @USAMedicalSupply  Год назад

      Hi Arne. F&P HC150 work with any CPAP Machine? Looks like it may be a good alternative for a larger humidification chamber with current cpap if that’s the case.

    • @arnecarlsson9740
      @arnecarlsson9740 Год назад +1

      @@USAMedicalSupply Yes it is a separate unit and it comes with a short hose to connect to the CPAP machine you have! I turn off the CPAP humidification and run it dry! 😂

      Question for both of you - Why would a person really need an alternative and larger humidifier/water reservoir?? FYI - I'm new as of 5 mos ago to my 2nd attempt to a CPAP machine. Could not tolerate being confined to the hose, etc 10 yrs ago. Latest attempt going very well. Just getting ready to exchange old Resmed 10 for the model 11 machine

      You shouldn't use soap, dish soap is recommended. It cleans but doesn't really sanitize though. For that you need diluted vinegar, or a UV-C cpap cleaner.

    The best CPAP cleaner that has worked well for me is a soak with warm water and a splash of Dawn. Wipe down down every morning..once a week (Sun generally) into a plastic tub warm water splash dawn. Agree ..verythin*

    Thanks for the video. I use distilled water and wash my water tank with baby shampoo and water once a week (along with my other pieces of equipment). I will also use vinegar water about once a month or so. As long as the water tank is free of signs of mold and is cleaned regularly, is there any reason to replace it? For example, if the plate at the bottom becomes too burnt-looking, is that a sign it should be changed out?
    Also, how often should the hose connector inside the Resmed machines be replaced, assuming you are washing it with soap and water once a week?

    • @USAMedicalSupply
      @USAMedicalSupply  Год назад +1

      Hi John, great advice with distilled water, vinegar, and baby shampoo as well. I am more paranoid about the humidifier than any other part so I usually change it every few months but I’m not someone who cleans his equipment thoroughly. If I were, maybe once a year. I have ran out of water many times where I smell plastic burning and I will replace the water chamber immediately after that. As far as that inside hose connector goes, every year or two is good and the only reason I suggest that is not because of the durability of the part but the possibility of mold, etc.. in parts of the silicone pieces that may be hard to clean to begin with.

    • @USAMedicalSupply
      @USAMedicalSupply  Год назад +2

      You should use it with distilled water. I rinse mine out with tap and air dry. You can get the heated hose wet, don’t submerge the circuit on the end but run water through the hose with a mild detergent like dawn or Palmolive. 🥂
