Love the video man I've been a big fan of his since about October this past year not a big college football fan , but I'm A die hard steeler fan nfl fan . The fact he is in Pittsburgh now is awesome!! A team that's all about family!!
Love the story. No more poverty for his family. I'm sure one of the first things he will do is buy his mother a brand new house of her choosing. Go get em granddaddy you deserve it!
That’s our Big 0 the future is very bright for him!! I’m believing first round for him. Money doesn’t take you out of poverty, it’s a mind set. He has the mindset now the money is coming.
This reminds me of my friend Jabrill he was coming from New Jersey and living down in Texas and going our school and he was really good at football but his mom they were struggling financially and shit like that and like anytime my mom could come to pick us up but always asked if she could take him and we were always go to his house but it sucked when it would always be changing every other week. I remember I asked him. About that he just says it’s just whenever we can stay and remember gave me a reality check and broke my mom’s heart . So I made sure that that our home was always open to him that anytime we were like going out to eat that I would always take them and my mom was always cool with it because he’s a big dude and it sucks that knowing this guy was good to go probably hungry after a full day of practice so remember he would come over and my mom would always give him extras and some plates to go just in case his mom or anybody else in his house is hungry, but it always does make you feel for them because they’re your teammates and you got to have their back and that you just don’t really know their situation and shit like that when you don’t really get to talk to everyone. It’s been a of couple years honestly, I kind of want to reach out to him to see what he’s doing and how he’s been.
Your family were his family's angels - and your blessings will come right on time when you're in need. It's the Universal Law that when you give from the heart, that you ultimately receive when you yourself are in dire need......
So happy my Steelers drafted this young man..I think he will have plenty of opportunities with the Steelers and we Steelersfaithful will love this guy. Perfect fit.let’s go Steelers
I feel like taking him is more so taking an impact player than a pass catcher, he will be more effective in a heavy running team that wants to hit him in PA game underneath and maybe if he gets a one on one up the seam.
Great story, great player, and great all-around individual. Very proud and excited to welcome him to Steeler Nation. Now he's part of one of the largest families in America
It’s a shame it took him being good at football for him to be noticed. This is where money raised for Black Lives Matter group should go, to the families that need it like his did
TBH I kinda hate the term "freak of nature" because if it's not suggesting some dude has like 3 eyes or something, it suggests perhaps he didn't have to work his absolute tail off to get where he was-- that he coasted on his genes. There are a million guys with genetic potential who never make it because they won't hustle and work. He worked.
DW was a steal for the Steelers in the 3rd. He blocks like a lineman and is a matchup problem as a receiver. His catch radius is stupid large. I would be very surprised if he is not a star soon.
Even though Darnell Washington was not selected in the 1st or 2nd Rounds of this years Draft, he was selected in the 3rd Round by the Steelers and hopefully he will make the 53 man roster and will be a great Blocking TE for the Black and Gold of Pittsburgh for many years to come. #HereWeGoSteelers
@@may_I_AI Yup Georgia football Super fan to be exact. I'm Not "fan" of anybody or any person, but just certain things, one of those things is Georgia football. (i don't like the word fan when it comes to people because that means fanatic, and it sounds weird asbleeding, and thats putting people on a pedestal, when they eat, breathe and bleed, just like me)
The thing about Darnell is his versatility. Not many tight ends can lay out 300-pound linemen with regularity. Defenders would just turn their back and take what was coming, it was crazy to watch! He was raw when he got to Georgia but worked hard and got better each year. I think his best football is ahead of him!
...from Western Pa.--Pittsburgh Steeler Country. Last name is "Washington". What do you think I'm thinkin' and hopin' for this young fella...hint: NOTHIN' BUT GOOD!
Obviously his mommy was not concerned about he would get hurt playing such a rough game, Then pull his play permission. Only to have him join the Marines during a time of war. Yep oldest sister did that. Her little boy. All of his 17 year old 270 lb 6'1' self. I guess he would have made a good offensive guard instead of a bullet stopper. But he does get that agent orange support from the VA. Turned that he also was too scary for the USMC. Too much meat to pack in a dress uniform. I also had the same issues. Except when the the personnel records needed loading into the deuce. Why unpack them? Just pick up the drawer. Put in in 2 1/2 ton. Then load the cabinet in too. Just stand back and watch. Then I would go back to tossing the spools of commo wire around. Nope I also was not a candidate for the Tomb of the Unknown. But sometimes my brain also came in handy. So I got too hang around for 22 years.
Gonna take over the league!? Like, yeah, i get it, brock bower is AMAZING, but if washington couldn't take over the TE room at Georgia, what makes you think hes gonna take over the league?
i dont understand how this dude fell so far. hes 6'7" and ran a 4.6 40. he loves to block, and in the blocking drills at the combine, when most TEs could barely move the sled, washington nearly flipped the thing over and tossed it around like it was a 20 pound bag of dirt. plus in his route drills, he had great hands. then to top it all off, his cone and shuttle drills beat most WR. i seriously do not understand how he fell so far in the draft. this guy has all sorts of potential, and even if he doesnt unlock all of it at the pro level, he still loves to block and its his favorite part of the game
Well he’s found a home in Pittsburgh or the Steelers found the kind of guy that is a leader in the locker room I mstill stunned that Pittsburgh was able to land him when they did
Yo I'm so glad Pittsburgh drafted him we definitely need another big long freaking nature tight in that will be good for the still City 🌆 here we go Pittsburgh can we go🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sucks that he had to fall in the draft but it’s a blessing in disguise he could not have ended up in a better organization. He started out life struggling as a kid with no family, and now he has the largest family in the world when it comes to Steeler nation an organization that price itself on faith family team mentality. It’s absolutely perfect. I just pray that the teams that the Steelers play in the division don’t target his knees and destroy his career before. It’s even got a chance to start because he is a serious threat to defenses.
This kid looks good, and I hope he has a long career. The only problem is 6ft7in. isn't monster size in pro-ball anymore. He might have some adjustments to make playing with people his own size. From his story, I think he'll adjust well.
Who should I do next?
GIMME SOME OREGON CONTENT FISHER! You're the GOAT!
Will Anderson better than this bum

Joey Porter Jr.
I'm Steelers fan and this is impressive. Pulling for him to succeed.
Go Steelers!!
Same
Yeah!
As a Steelers fan I was gonna root for this man no matter what, but after hearing this story how could you not.
Man!
I hope more steeler fans come across this video.. we have our nephilim here in the burg. Can’t wait to see this kid on the field!!
Riight !!
We love him at UGA and I will be watching him with my man George Pickens
Same old story evrey colored player has a tough childhood. thing is all young men these days go thru the same.
Darnell was a steal at the 3rd round.. Pittsburgh got a hell of a team player. Future All Pro
Yup. There's no reason why Darnell Washington and Jalin Hyatt should've slipped so far down the draft boards.
3rd round to Steelers!!!!! What a steal!!!!!
Love the story. No more poverty for his family. I'm sure one of the first things he will do is buy his mother a brand new house of her choosing. Go get em granddaddy you deserve it!
Buy mom a house in a low taxed state to save money not red states.
Welcome to Pittsburgh my man. So happy to have you hear man. I know what it is like to grow up in a bad situation glad to see you overcame everything.
granddaddy...?
@@m.jackson2609 why would you want to buy in a democrat state where everything is less valuable and run down? Typical democrat mind set!😂
Hearing all this makes me very excited that he’s a Pittsburgh Steeler. He’s gonna do great with Pat and Zach as a TE
And don't forget Bowser Jr.
Don’t forget Hayward
@@michaelkissner2284 I’m gonna be honest, I completely forgot Meatball is a tight end 🤣. I swear I thought he was a WR
@@alatreon7451 he’s not a fullback?😭
@@michealbrown4302 I would think he plays more of an h-back/FB role this year esp if they dont bring back Derek Watt.
He deserves Mike Tomlin and the Steelers organization to right his life and develop his talent.
Sure, if Tomlinson will let him stand for the National Anthem
Pittsburgh is a good environment.
Pittsburgh will make him a Steeler legend & we will get a ring & this story will have its icing on its cake🚩🔴🔵😎😤
He ended up at the best family feel franchise in the NFL, how heart warning.
I hope he's a future pro bowl'er!
Absolute steal that Pittsburgh got him 93 overall in the 3rd round. My goodness.
What do you think of Darnell Washington and his story/future career?
❤❤❤❤Thank you for covering his story
I’ve been intrigued since I first heard his story a few years ago. Would love to see him in black and orange stripes
Great story. Thank you! I think he’s a diamond in the rough, an untapped talent waiting to blossom at the next level.
Best TE in the draft
Darnell has been through alot, god bless this man, he is a very strong and faithful player.....💪🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛
That’s our Big 0 the future is very bright for him!! I’m believing first round for him. Money doesn’t take you out of poverty, it’s a mind set. He has the mindset now the money is coming.
Another Blind Side type story. I hope Darnell exceeds his potential and becomes great. God is good. 🙏
As a Tackle Eligible TE he'd be a problem.
This reminds me of my friend Jabrill he was coming from New Jersey and living down in Texas and going our school and he was really good at football but his mom they were struggling financially and shit like that and like anytime my mom could come to pick us up but always asked if she could take him and we were always go to his house but it sucked when it would always be changing every other week. he is now a pittsburgh steeler
So happy my Steelers drafted this young man..I think he will have plenty of opportunities with the Steelers and we Steelersfaithful will love this guy. Perfect fit.let’s go Steelers
The guy is a freak of nature, a real baller. Takes out 300-pound linemen with regularity. His best football is ahead of him!
Let's go Steeler nation we killed the draft
3" taller than Randy Moss & we know how good he was.
Different position. Randy Moss was a wr, Washington is a te.
This the typa story made for my city, he was always supposed to be a steeler.
I'm in my fifties and have lived here all of my life, it is definitely the greatest city in the country.
I'm thankful you covered this great freak of nature
Beast
He’s been one of my favorites since he arrived in Athens. In culture with transfer portal football, it’s really awesome that he never left.
I feel like taking him is more so taking an impact player than a pass catcher, he will be more effective in a heavy running team that wants to hit him in PA game underneath and maybe if he gets a one on one up the seam.
That steelers is gonna be a mean run team with their additions
Darnell you're going to have great success in the NFL I'm praying for you young brother.. Keep on on striving. God bless you
Great story, great player, and great all-around individual. Very proud and excited to welcome him to Steeler Nation. Now he's part of one of the largest families in America
Your Chis Watson video last season was epic. The Packers might pick this guy too. By far my favorite TE in the class.
Welcome to the steel city 💛🖤💛🖤💛 Steelers nation
It’s a shame it took him being good at football for him to be noticed. This is where money raised for Black Lives Matter group should go, to the families that need it like his did
BLM? Black Americans are owed reparations. You don't really care about them that's why you bring up non sense like BLM.
Welcome to Pittsburgh, Darnell. Can't WAIT to see you play this year!
Steelers believe the best medical staff in the country will fix his knee in no time. Bengals will forever regret passing on him.
Happy he ended up with a great franchise like Pittsburgh🖤💛🖤💛
Steelers got a steal!
Here we go Steelers and welcome to Steelers Nation, Darnell Washington!

Good analysis.
GO DAWGS!!! BIG 0
wish darnell the best
I think he has injury issues that's why he didn't get drafted until second round
Yes, that is/was the concern. The 3rd round number 91 overall.
Geez. Here I thought Cory Trice was a steal...👀
Steelers got 3 steals in the draft

He's a DAWG i'm not a Steelers fan but I'll watch the game just to see #DarnellWashington
He was my favorite dawg all year long. Wish nothing but the best for him.
Same guy who said Travis Kelce was not a top 5 TE he will end up being a tackle
Well he’s found a home in Pittsburgh or the Steelers found the kind of guy that is a leader in the locker room I mstill stunned that Pittsburgh was able to land him when they did

Seems like nobody drafts better than the Steelers. Look out NFL.
As a Steeler Freak, I believe he will be the best Steeler Tight End EVER!!❤❤
God is so great man🙏🏼 all the glory to him

Gonna be a good target for Kenny
Congrats Mr. Washington! Pulling for you for continued success.
I like Washington but Bowers is much better.
Bowers is a top receiving TE. Washington is different
chances are low
What is scary is that Georgia didn't utilize him enough imo. Can't wait to see him flourish in the nfl
He's slow
Maybe
