If I remember correctly, Ellison's idea behind the game is that you can't win it, you just lose better. I think this ending goes somewhat well with this idea. Sure, it's still a bad ending, since the last hope of humanity surviving is lost, but at least AMs are at peace and you have a mouth to scream as much as you want. You didn't win, but you lost better.
Wonder what would happen if an alien civilization discovered the remnants of Earth. They probably would have their own AM but more advanced while having no hate for its creators. Wonder if remnants of AM would infect their systems and corrupt their AI. Resulting in another genocide. Possibly on a galactic scale.
@@StarlightPumpkins With his logic and ""morals,"" he shouldn't harbor any HATE for an alien race, assuming that alien race isn't directly related to humanity in some way. I wouldn't put it past AM to want to use them for his own "fun" though.
@@StarlightPumpkins The dark humor is strong in you. lol We both know, that Nimdok "vanishes" from the rest of the game once you finish his story arc in a bad way, but THIS is prolly what he would have thought if you would have kept playing him till the end. The last human, trapped in a machine till the sun goes supernova. 2nd worst fate though.
Since in those endings, absolutely all humans are destroyed, including all five of AM's prisoners, what's the point of the last survivor keeping watch on AM and stopping him from reactivating? Maybe so he won't be able to torture any alien visitors?
Honestly, I think it may have been an oversight. Although, It could be to protect any future lifeforms that may arise after all that radiation clears away!
Wow a channel with content from this game i haven't seen, amazing! I subbed. n_n btw have you ever played an old rather obscure DOS game called "Plague Of The Moon" its about a witch, not much info out there and i think only a shareware version is available.

@Synful Soles Indeed! David Sears ended up convincing Ellison to allow the game to have a "good" ending.

I wonder if AM would even have hatred for alien lifeforms? They weren't responsible for his creation and suffering, after all.
