- We have a very special guest joining us today, buckaroos! Who you might ask? David Mullich! The producer of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream! So gather round your monitor and listen as we talk about one of the greatest adventure games ever made!
And for archival purposes, here are some questions that didn't make the final cut:
4. How is Ted being tortured in his cage? Is he being zapped by a laser? Or is his paranoia making him think the laser is coming from a gun?
I DON"T REMEMBER. PROBABLY JUST A CHOICE OF THE ARTISTS.
5. Why on earth does Ellen's spirit barometer refuse to turn white? Is it a glitch or an intentional design choice?
IT DOES? I DON'T REMEMBER THERE BEING SUCH A GLITCH OR A DESIGN CHOICE.
6. Does IHNMAIMS have a canonical ending? And is the ending where AM wipes out the lunar colony Ellison's intended "good" ending?
THERE ARE 7 ENDINGS. HARLAN NEVER TOLD ME HE HAD A PREFERRED ONE
7. How hard was it for the team to convince Ellison to make IHNMAIMS "winnable"?
THE GAME ALREADY HAD ALL 7 ENDINGS PLANNED WHEN I JOINED THE PROJECT. HARLAN NEVER TOLD ME THAT HE WANTED IT TO BE UNWINNABLE.

Funny how even 30 years ago, the companies adapting preexisting works wanted to change and muddle the source material into what they wanted and whined and complained about any resistance. The only difference these days is that they carry on despite any resistance.
I can only commend David Mullich for his respect for the source material and the artist who created it. Wish we had more of it these days.

Man this is awesome! IHNMAIMS has been one of my favorite computer games, yet it always left me wanting more. I really do wish there was a way to play with game without the controversial scenes like the baby eating being cut out, but it was still great nonetheless. It's hard to imagine what a sequel would have involved, but I'm sure it would've been interesting. oh well.
I'm glad you enjoyed! And yeah, it's a shame this game had to be dialed back to satisfy retailers. The scenarios for Benny, Gorrister, and Ellen could have really used some negative choices that still allowed you to complete the chapter.
