Thanks for watching.I planted 5kg in total for all my ponds, and I harvest 10kg daily. Depends on pond sizes. See my current ponds 👇 ruclips.net/user/shorts5Ixmv-uDd2s?feature=share
Thanks great video. Do you add any phosphorus to your pond? Also how much slurry to add to a pond? Is there a guide to use for the size of your pond? Like a pond that is 4ft by 12ft? Thanks for your help…
Thank you! We only use animal manure and no other elements. This is 4m by 2m so we used around 20kg manure...we keep adding in small bits over time. We are researching different optimal quantities - and we will share our journey in the neat future. Stay tuned
@@KijaniFarmstead Thank you so much. I have some Azolla ponds and was using 0,22,0 fertilizer. Like 20 grams per 4ft X 12ft pond. I will try with none. Your videos are an inspiration. My wife and I have small farm in the Philippines. I was curious what country in which you reside. We have pigs and banana and would like to get chickens in the future. Take care!!!
It’s elevated to avoid surface runoff, and we maintain the pools at half capacity to ensure it doesn’t fill up and overflow during the rainy season. We drain the water once it goes beyond the 1/2 mark.
It’s a big problem and we are still trialing different things to find a lasting solution. In the meantime we’ve tried to a) cordon off the ponds section, b) elevate the big ponds, and c) scoop off eggs floating on the ponds
Thank you for watching! Azolla has several strains adapted to different regions - I would suggest you get seeds from a farmer in/around Cameroon to be sure of survival and optimal growth.
Where are you from brother. I'll send you if you pay for package shipment. Or you can go to any azolla grower near you and ask him for a handful.. add some fertile soil & food source to a pond or tank with 6 to 12 inches of water and sprinkle azolla on top. Food source can be cowdung, cow manure or any other manure. Blood meal also gives amazing results. Depending on size of your pond you'll be able to harvest in 3 to 4 weeks. Keep adding fresh soil and food source every month and keep harvesting

Good question. We've never experienced this as our pounds are raised hence runoff water doesn't get in the ponds. We just drain any excess water since we didn't install outlets.
Wow🎉
Thank you 😊

Hi i would love to learn how to plant azola
Thank you. Happy to take you through the process or answer any questions not addressed in the video. Contacts on the description.
I have been using it for a year now
The poultry do enjoy so much. Thanks for watching!
Its educative. I dont see inlet and outlet. Will water not stink?
Thank you. They are small ponds so we manually insert a pipe when we want to drain the water
Well done. Am asking if i can use salty water cox am in kitengela where we use borehole water which is salty
If not very salty/ hard you should be able to use it. You can try in a small space and see if it works
Is washing a must?
Not a must. We only wash when the pond has some floating manure.
I live in cameroon
what if it rains, will it not like overflow?
It’s elevated to avoid surface runoff, and we maintain the pools at half capacity to ensure it doesn’t fill up and overflow during the rainy season. We drain the water once it goes beyond the 1/2 mark.
