Man, you deserve a lot more views for such an amazing job you've been doing!
It will not take long :), this guy is going to very quickly reach 100k subs
He goes right into it. Loved jumping to conclusion and being ok with ddr3 on the 2678 as had to pick between eec DDR3 and non reg DDR4
Thank you for this comparison. Found your channel days ago and can´t stop watching. Great content!!!!
Thank you for the analysis, it helps a lot to have accurate information.
Hey, morning! I believe your channel is really underrated, considering you have today just almost 6k subscribers! There's no other channel with so detailed information about chinese hardware like yours. I bought this kit a couple of days ago, e5 2678 v3 + x99 TF + 32GB DDR3 ECC REG. Waiting my package. Hugs from Brazil!
Thank you for the support man!
Great video, the E5 2678 v3 looks neet :)
Thanks for the help, your videos are amazing, you deserve to be even bigger! Good luck!
Hello from Pakistan. I recently started to check on components to build a cheap PC based on a xeon processor. I didnt expect to find exactly what i was looking for but your video is exactly that. Very informative and detailed video. Good job. You now have a new subscriber 👍
Agradeço pelos videos, todos merecem likes. Fico impressionado com a qualidade e capricho das informações
Xará, tô querendo montar um PC com esse kit, por esses testes vale mais a pena ir de DDR3 ou DDR4 em quad Channel?
man such a great video!!!! but i was expecting 4 channel to be vastly superior to 2 channel :)
Sorry to disappoint, but quad channel memory only has advantage in certain memory bandwidth limited scenarios.
@@Miyconst Hello good video, I would like to know what type of ram you used, is that I am going to put an i7 5820k in one of those boards and I would like to know if it has server ram or writing pc? Desktop processors support server ram? Does this board support desktop ram? Thank you
@@hancellf4175 All Chinese X99 boards I have tested support regular desktop memory. With i7-5820k you can use only desktop memory, as it does not support server REG ECC modules. There are plenty of Corsair DDR4 modules on the second hand market, you can find 4 x 4GB modules or 2 x 8GB for a good price.
@@Miyconst thank you man. 👍💎
Exactly the information I needed before I buy RAM for my build!
Thanks alot for the video man.

Awesome vid with great info 👍 Really wondered about using Quad Channel on my X79 board, but all I really use the rig that it's in for is just some light gaming and general use. I can see going Quad if your into Content Creation/Video editing and for VM's, large datasets etc.
In your case it would make more sense to invest money into a better GPU for gaming 🙂.

Congratulations, really cool video. I bought a Jingsha x99 Extreme motherboard and didn't see that it only used DDR3 and also that it was only compatible with some Xeons. I was perplexed by this Frankstein.
Now you need to find a DDR3 compatible CPU and make it work.
Great wrap up; needed something like this today! With today's high capacities, 2R or 4R dimms (mostly found in ecc ram) are often faster than single rank 'performance' sticks, that probably explains why the server memory is a bit faster.
Also, the ddr3 2133 is cl11 but ddr4 is cl12, that explains why the ddr3 is faster.
Bad thing is that DDR3 does not works with most CPUs. Including the best clock V4 one like 1650v4, 2667v4 and 2689v4.
Super informative video! Long live ddr3 :D just a bit high in power consumption

Really, Really Thank you, Going buy a 4 ecc ddr3 ram pack now
if i buy a 1866 mhz ddr3 memory how can i make it works at 2133mhz?

If you plan to use DDR3 memory, make sure to have compatible motherboard and compatible CPU. Not every DDR3-1866 memory can be overclocked to 2133, but you can try with the BIOS settings.

thank you mon ive been looking for a video for so long so see if quad channel ddr3 was equal to ddr4 dual channel- building a new server and information is everything!! ddr3 ecc is cheap and 16ram slot boards are good priced-- but first gen ryzen and ddr4 are coming down in price for capacity
great video bro.. keep it up.. i am very informed now
thx dude, very nice video and your software tools for turbo boost.
You are welcome!
don't waste your money...i purchased one of these thinking wow all this and the price too...and yes it looks pretty...i received mine a month later after it took them 17 days to process the order..i purchased the combo the 12 core Xeon, 32gb ram and the x99-tf...when i checked it out i found one ram module was bad and it actually was used server ram...no biggy, the CPU was also used(but so far it works) i then found that the drivers supplied did not work with windows 10 pro, so i went to their website and downloaded their questionable drivers with no driver date/version (actually said unknown date on download). these also did not work...so i went to the (Ethernet) chip set manufacturer and finally got the thing to connect to the internet. and then i tackled each problem individually...you see it (MB) was not fully compatible with Windows 10, and while it has the same problems that plague other X99 boards from legit manufacturers these guy locked or removed many of the functions in bios that where used to correct those same issues.. i also had wiring problems as the motherboard jfp1 connectors where too small and the case wire connectors fell off repeatedly. then the screaming started i installed a MSI RX5600 xt Mech and it came unglued...fearing for my video card i continued using a cheap MSI, eventually i manage to get the system working to find it did not recognize my M.2 or SSDs. after contacting them i found there was no warranty and no customer service also aliexpress sided with them as i didn't use an eraser on the contacts as was told by the manufacturer (my belief was that i wanted something that worked, not a used and defective item i had to coax and trick into working)...so if you are a programmer and know your way around bios you may be able to have a working system in a day...if not get a legit board. i will be posting this warning for as many as possible to see so they do not suffer as i did
I have x99 mainboard and I have 8x 8GB ram, the left side of cpu ram slots doesn't work, I can't start quadcore ram
great review. does this motherboard also support e5 v4 cpus?
It does but most of the V4 CPUs work with DDR4 memory only.
I have a Jingsha X99 with 256GB RAM and I'm planning on buying another one. I'm running it with an E5 2673v3, excellent for a low power consumption server. Do you know if there is a Xeon v4 with DDR3 support available? Also, do you have a list of all DDR3 compatible Xeons? I need another one for my NAS and wanted to search some alternatives. Thanks, great video!
Unfortunately, there are no Xeon V4 CPUs with DDR3 support. DDR4 is getting cheaper these days, take a look at Xeon E5-2620 V3 & Kllisre RAM sticks.
bro i love you and i love your videos
I ve two issues with this board
1.) doesnt matter which setting I use for the FAN control in the BIOS, they run always at the same speed (way to fast and in order to that => too loud)
2.) After the POST comes 1 beep and after the shutdown 2 beeps - the internal speaker is mounted on the motherboard, so it cant be deactivated
Great informative video !! Thank you very much.
Do you think DDR4 ECC REG 2933 Mhz is compatible with your configuration (X99 TF + 2678 v3) please ?
Most likely the RAM will work, but the speed will be DDR4-2133.
After i watched your video i understood 2 things that it is a lot better to use ecc ram and quad channel does not worth the high cost while the dual channel does worth for price-quality performance because it is cheaper
Спасибо, очень полезные тесты!
In BIOS of the chinese x99 Boards activate: Numa, COD (cluster on die) 10 core and more needed, IOAT. You will get a bump on memory bandwidth and near 25% better L3 Cache Latency.
I will take a look at it, thanks for the tip.
muy agradecido por su analisis
Hello! Loving your channel! I've got a Asus x99 Deluxe ii and E5-2680 and was looking at four sticks of 8gb ddr4 3000mhz. Since my motherboard will do up to 3200mhz ram but the CPU only 2133mhz does that mean I will really have to run the ram at 2133 instead of 3200? Is that is what you had to do with your 3200mhz ram in your test?
I'm pretty certain the x99 Deluxe ii can only use ddr4.
Memory speed on the X99 platform depends on the CPU used. With unlocked CPUs, such as Core i7 or Xeon E5-1650 V3 / E5-1660 V3 it's possible to overclock memory, but with locked CPUs such as E5-2678 V3, the memory speed is limited by the CPU specification, and so far there is no way to overcome this limitation.
@@Miyconst thank you for replying! I'm not really looking for overclocking and gaming. I'm mainly building a Plex server and rarely also do video editing. So I'm looking for long term reliability and stability. I dont really know anything about overclocking and have never built a powerful computer before so I lack understanding in all this.
So was I right that if I get 3200mhz ram I will need to enter it into the bios as 2133mhz ram since that is the highest the CPU will support (e5-2680v3)? If so, is there any disadvantage to that besides it being slower? Does it make the system unstable to run 3200mhz ram at 2133mhz? Is that what you had to do in your video? It's the reason that your 3200 is listed in the configuration as ddr4 2133?
Thank you for the info!

Hello;
I am also very curious about this motherboard. I would have a few questions:
(Huananzhi X99-TF with Xeon E5-2678 V3)
1: I wonder if the chipset is real? Because they say it's not x99.
2: I have ddr 4 32 gb 3000mhz gskill rams. (4 * 8) I wonder if they work on this motherboard? Sorry, the seller cannot answer.
3: If made Crossfire or SLI, does it offer the same performance as x99 motherboards?
4: In short, is x99 a motherboard to be bought with peace of mind?
I follow your videos and wish you success.
1. Huananzhi boards come either with a real X99 chipset or with its server equivalent C612. The performance of the motherboard doesn't differ between these two options though.
2. The RAM will work, but with E5-2678 V3 it will be limited to DDR4-2133.
3. It offers the same performance for dual GPU setups.
4. Nothing from AliExpress should be bought with peace in mind, but the Huananzhi boards have decent quality and should serve you well for a few years. I would recommend JingSha X99 D8 though, because the small VRM fans on the Huananzhi boards are really annoying.
@@Miyconst Thank you very much for your comment and interest. I follow your videos. Stay blowing.
Hi, I also own this motherboard. I find that (in Linux) wakeup from suspend does not work when using dual channel DDR3, but works when using quad channel DDR4. Could you confirm this? Thanks.
Hi. Sorry, I cannot confirm or deny this at the moment as I don't have means to test it.
Thank u very much. Tech Yes City has a 12 core E5 2678 V3 much slower in games than a 8 core 2640 V3, but he's using 2080 Ti. Think I'll keep my 2678 and 32GB DDR3 ecc reg with my 5700 XT.. In 3DMark Time Spy my previous 8 core E5 2689 was 3% faster in graphics score, both cpus at 3.3 GHz.
I will have to check that video. E5-2678 V3 can't be much slower than E5-2640 V3. Their speed difference is only 100 MHz, but E5-2678 V3 has 4 extra cores and works with DDR4-2133, while E5-2640 V3 is limited to DDR4-1866.

@@JukkaX Okay, I have watched the video. In general, I do not trust TYC reviews, his videos are more like hype and entertainment rather than accurate straight to the point information. I do not want to point any fingers or accuse anyone of anything, but in the past TYC has already got into some clashes with other great RUclipsrs for providing non accurate information - you can search on that subject online. Now, regarding the E5-2678 V3 results, I strongly believe that something was wrong with his setup, because:
1. He keeps calling Xeon E5-2630 V3 a 6-core CPU, while it's an 8-core CPU. It shows how much attention he pays to the details.
2. He did not test all CPUs with the same configuration. He mentioned that the E5-2678 V3 results were compared with "previously tested Xeons".
3. He does not specify the Motherboard / RAM / Driver configuration in the tests, difference in any of these components could lead to screwed up results.
4. He showed DDR4-2133 CL15 with E5-2678 V3. This is a disgustingly lose value for DDR4-2133, in my tests I used CL11 or at least CL12.
5. He does not know that overclocking RAM on the Xeon E5-2600 V3 series is not possible even on branded X99 motherboards.
6. He does not know that Huananzhi motherboards support RAM timings configuration in the BIOS.
7. He does not know that there is a BIOS for Machinist X99Z with RAM timings configuration as well.
8. In my tests (even though I don't have RTX 2080 Ti) E5-2678 V3 showed results very similar to E5-2640 V3 even at 720p and low-mid graphical settings.
9. All in all, the video contains more talk and b-roll than actual info.
10. It's just my opinion, and you are free to disagree with me. 🍻
@@Miyconst Thank u for the very detailed 'review'. Think I'll trust your findings more.
So , non server RAM works on server and desktop , server RAM works only on server boards?
Yes, something like that. Still, there are desktop boards which work with server RAM and there are server boards which don't work with desktop RAM.
Excuse me sr. It's me again (sorry for that). If i want to install 32GB in quad channel (4x8GB), does it matter the modules rank? I've seen this specification (1Rx4; 2Rx8, etc.) and read it's about the rank and the chips of the modules but honestly i cannot understand how does it affect if you use the Quad Channel Configuration. And does it matter if it is DDR3 or DDR4?
The module rank doesn't really matter as long as you have four identical modules. DDR 3/4 also have about the same performance, but of you pick DDR3, make sure to have a compatible motherboard and a compatible CPU.
What registerd ddr3 will you recommend and wich does it matter if there mix types of modules 1rx8 2rx4 for example or any other combination?
Samsung DDR3 modules are the best. It's better not to mix different memory types, but some mixes may work.
Miyconst So actually Samsung brand memory or different manufacturers that use samsung chips?
@@edyartzi Actual Samsung memory modules. Other manufacturers may randomly use different chips (SK Hynix / Samsung / Micron).

If the PC doesn't work with any of their RAM, then it's most likely the PC issue and not the RAM issue. A "memory bank" is a physical characteristic or a memory module, you can search about it in Google. Important to understand that number of banks is not the same as capacity in MB/GB.

In the games, these two CPUs will perform almost identical. In some games E5-2640 V3 will be better, in others E5-2678 V3. It really depends on which games you play. @@k41nn E5-1620 V3 is only good if you can get it for cheap, otherwise it's a pretty useless CPU which you can't overclock either.
I'm confused, are DDR3 slots not different then a DDR4 slot?
They are, and that's why you get dedicated slots for DDR 3 and 4 RAM modules.
@@Miyconst I caught on to that, my mind is blown as 90% of my favorite games are old and need DDR3.
@@Ro-Bucks there are no games that demand DDR3 / DDR4 or any other RAM, games may demand certain amount, but not type.
Is ddr3 compatible with e5 v4 if I want a cpu upgrade?
No, it's not. Only a few Xeon E5 V3 CPUs work with DDR3 memory.
Hello. Thank you for a great and indicative test. Please tell me, the initial timings for ballistics 3200mhz 2x16gb, my motherboard and processor are the same as yours.

I’d love to see how 8x sticks in the ddr3 or ddr4 only version of the board compares
You need another motherboard for that, but in general it doesn't change the performance. I have tested 8 * 8 GB on JingSha X99-D8.
@@Miyconst awesome! Thanks for the reply and your incredible work and detail of your videos, you are definitely the best source of Xeon information
Hi is there a way to overclock memory from 1333mhz to 1866mhz on x99-tf? my x99-tf doesnt have an option in the bios for memory frequency.
Yes, there is. You have to "Restore BIOS Defaults" first, then the RAM speed option will show up again.
@@Miyconst I have e5 2678v3 and gskill 1600mhz non-esc ram. Turbo unloacked to 3.2ghz.
I restored the bios to default but still no option for memory frequency.

Hello good video, I would like to know what type of ram you used, is that I am going to put an i7 5820k in one of those boards and I would like to know if it has server ram or writing pc? Desktop processors support server ram? Does this board support desktop ram? Thank you
Core i7 CPUs don't support server memory, you need regular desktop memory for these CPUs. Huananzhi X99-TF works with both memory types.
@@Miyconst Thanks bro' you're the best. New sub. 👍
Hi, this motherboard huananzhi is compatible with xeon e5-2680v4?
Yes, it's compatible, but DDR3 memory won't work with this CPU.
Can I use regular desktop ddr3 ram with this? Not ECC RAM, 1600MHZ
Yes, you can.
@@Miyconst I want to upgrade from my current video editing setup, 15 4430 +16GB Ram + GTX 770 2GB, I want upgrade to X99tf+2678v3 + 16GB + RX560 4GB, I am really on a tight budget, I would have love to keep my GTX 770 in this set up but the VRAM is low for davinci resolve 17 and I can't use CUDA with it in Davinci Resolve 17, but work fine in premiere, and I can do HVEC transcoding with RX560, I do mostly 4k editing and render out as 1080p, Please advice if this will be a good upgrade, I don't do gaming except for little soccer, which is not too much demanding.
@@creativeedgemtv I think, it will be a bad update. AMD RX 560 is pathetic at video editing. If the budget is super tight, I would suggest to replace the CPU with Xeon E3-1230 V3 / E3-1245 V3 and get an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti / 1650 / 1060 instead.
@@Miyconst X99tf+2678+16gb+GTX 770, I already have 16gb of ddr3 RAM and GTX 770, So I can keep my RAM and graphics card in the new setup, will this be a nice upgrade? so when I can afford the GTX 1060 6GB or RTX 2060, I will add it.
Yes, that's a much better option, but don't expect too much of a performance boost without a new GPU.
Ok, you need more CPUs. Lol kidding, amazing content!
what is best ram for 2630 v3 2*8 or 4*4 and ty
The best would be 4 x 4 GB DDR4-2400 ECC REG memory modules with Micron or Samsung chips, try to find modules with as low latency as possible.
Is E5-2678 v3 good for dedicated streaming PC?
It should be just fine, but of course it depends on which settings you plan to use.
Let say, 1080p/60, medium @6Mb ?
@@MrDaku777 as far as I know, it shall be just fine, but I am not a streaming expert, thus don't count on me.
@@Miyconst tnx
In your opinion... The best choice for this motherboard is ddr3 or ddr4?
The best is the one you can get cheaper. It also depends on which CPU you plan to use. Only a few Xeon E5 V3 support DDR3 memory.
@@Miyconst I'll plan to get 2678 v3
@@nocashforfun Then either get X99-TF + DDR3 or X99 D8 + DDR4.
So two sticks of 8gig 2133mhz DDR3 with Xeon E5 2678 V3 is the best option
Yeah, but only a few motherboards support DDR3-2133 and most of the DDR3 memory can't O.C. to DDR3.
@@Miyconst Ahh so rather get DDr3 1600mhz what would be your suggestion?
Get DDR4 😃.
But why testing rams of more than 2133mhz beacuse the max speed that can accept the 2678v3 is 2133mhz. They will only give you more latency I guess
The RAM timings were manually tuned, and the RAM with higher speed usually gives better timings at lower speeds as well.
I can't set Ddr4 In to 2400mhz or 3000mhz
Most likely the RAM speed is limited by the CPU. What do you have?
And which version of ram is the best for gaming
It doesn't matter, the performance is about the same.

Hello, i would like to know what are the difference between the white and green version of this x99 chinese mobo
Hi. Do you mean the X99-F8 model? As far as I know, it's the same as this one (X99-TF), but it has 8 DDR4 memory slots, means DDR3 RAM is not supported. I am going to test X99-F8 (the green one) soon.
@@Miyconst ok , thanks for infos :)
hey man could you try running star citizen with one of these? just purely out of curiosity.
I don't own the game, but as far as I know it performs very close to the Battlefield variants.
i have X99-TF alongside with 2620 v3 and i've been wondering if i can go with quad channel of 4gb sticks? i dont see them being tested in this video.
You can do that, as long as your memory modules are 8 banks, the cheap 4 banks modules are not compatible with the Chinese X99 boards.

@@nabildanial00 No, it's a physical layout of the memory chips on the module: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_bank

I dont have ram timings setup in my oryginal huananzhi x99-tf bios, friend help...
It is most likely that you have received a motherboard with the latest "updated" BIOS. This BIOS has locked RAM timings and overclocking. You can use Mi899 to flash the previous BIOS, which has these options.
@@Miyconst thank you so much!

I have a question, I am about to buy 2x32 Samsung 32GB of this memory (DDR3-1866 LRDIMM PC3-14900L M386B4G70DM0-CMA3Q). Would there be a reason not to? It is to use it with a x99 d8 and the E5 2678 V3. Thanks
Hi there. If you are buying from AliExpress, then you should know that Chinese sellers are often reprogramming DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 RAM into DDR3-1866, thus there is no point in paying extra for the higher speed memory. Other than that, this configuration should work, but since I have not tested this exact RAM, I can't guarantee.
@@Miyconst Thank you man, is not from AliExpress this one. I'll probably try and let you know. Do you think will be possible to overclock it to 2133 ?
@@gregoiresamsa5573 most likely it shall be possible to overclock it to DDR3-2133, but overclocking is always a gamble, even if 99% of these memories can go up to DDR3-2133, you still may get that 1%, which does not.
Cual es mejor usar ddr3 de 8 gb o 16 gb
You need at least 16 GB of RAM in total and the best is to use at least two identical memory modules on two different memory channels.
So which one runs better ddr3 or ddr4
