Hey all! You asked so I wanted to deliver. I have uploaded my full DAWN OF SORROW review. So after you're done here, head on over to watch that one as well! ruclips.net/video/HRDeC7CEAcc/видео.html
Yeah! The music is really great. And same! Portrait of Ruin was and still is pretty unique in the way you manipulate both characters at times to solve puzzles and progress.
I only ever got to play Portrait of Ruin back on DS, having the other two available in this collection is super nice. Super interested in playing the Haunted Castle Revisited as well. I also agree with the usage of screen real estate and how the touch screen elements are done. Also on PC, it allows you to use the mouse as the stylus if the controller and quick-time events aren't to ones liking. Thanks for the review!

@@catarenatucker2781 Just wanted to give everyone an update on this. The Dawn of Sorrow review is currently in progress. Hoping to have that up soon(ish)!
This is a 10/10 for me. My favorite era of Castlevania, arguably with ports better than the originals. Triple screen layout, high res SFX and music, revamped touch features and somehow even tighter controls than the originals. ❤
I love seeing everyone's take on the rankings of the DS games - some think DoS is best, some think it is the worst. Others love OOE, but some think it's way overrated. So I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on each individual game!
All three are great games, I'm super stoked to get them again and I'll be buying them without hesitation when LRG has the physical collection available. Of the three, I enjoyed Dawn of Sorrow the best. However, you cannot go wrong with the DS trilogy, they are some of the best games from that era.
Who said Order of Ecclesia overrated? I have never seen this. I barely ever hear it's anyone's fav or even one of the best. But IMO, Order of Ecclesia is the best one, most gorgeous Castlevania game rivaling SoTN. The combat was also the best balanced and most fun IMO.
@@A-Dubs398Agreed 100%. One of the reasons why I enjoy OoE more than DoS or PoR is because the equipment, items, and weapons (glyphs) feel more intentional and fine tuned. I'd have to rate the DS games in this collection as: 1) Dawn, 2) Order, 3) Portrait. The Nest of Evil in Portrait felt so recycled and I didn't have any luck rewind-scumming drops in that game, so having to run through sections multiple times to fill out the bestiary was annoying. I need some advice, is it worth getting the ultimate collector edition for this? I’m a fan of castlevania and I’m getting the regular one but I’m on the fence about getting the big one, it’s a lot of money 😂
Honestly that really depends on if you like the "stuff" included with it. LRGs collectors editions are cool but I neither have the space or the desire to buy something that expensive and wait a year to receive it. So I buy just the games by themselves in all instances from LRG for this reason.
I was thinking about not buying, because I already have all three games physical on DS, but the Haunted Castle Remastered will make me buy I still prefer the Advance Collection because I have strong nostalgia for the bonus game in this collection, Dracula X SNES was my first Castlevania ever Now if they want to make a KILLER 3D collection, they should put Lament of Innocence + Curse of Darkness with a bonus game of CASTLEVANIA CHRONICLES from PS1 I would buy 3 copies
All of the Castlevania Collection have been great! I hope they do the Ps2 era games as well. I actually have a really soft spot for those games and the soundtracks for both are stellar.
Any 3D collection needs the N64 Castlevania, Legacy of Darkness, Lament of Innocence, and Curse of Darkness. And as a bonus, a Castlevania Adventure Rebirth port.
@@NicoPlaysIndies Hope that after ALL this rehash, they finally invest in a new game. They could hire Mercury Steam, the studio behind the new Metroid games. They already worked on Castlevania Mirror of Fate for 3DS, which isn't the greatest game in the franchise, but after playing Metroid Dread I am a fan of this studio. For me both 2.5D and HD-2D would work for Castlevania
If you don't mind the things I mentioned about how they handled the touch screen and the map since they were DS games. Also understand that Dawn of Sorrow is a sequel so you'd be skipping ahead story wise for that game. If these things don't bother you then this is a collection of some really great games that you'll most likely enjoy.
Honestly just slug him and try to kill him as quickly as you can. That worked better for me than trying to dodge his attacks and play smart. Check the description I have my full playthrough uploaded there if you want to see.
1:05 So how does it feel to *be* a Castlevania game? 🙃 Also, the first Castlevania on the NES was also the first I played on the system, and also the second game I actually bought for the system too!
The haunted castle remake, I don't like reimagined or revisited or whatever they're calling it. It is a downright remake because it is nothing like the original in terms of quality and structure. Is the coolest thing they could have snuck into this collection which was already shadow dropped. It's criminal that it is so short but that did feel like a New Castlevania game. Just a new classic style one That being said though, they should make new ones and not just these collections, because it would be cool enough if they just made new 2D side-scrolling games. Whether they want to do a more traditional linear action platformer, or whether they want to do another metroidvania style game. It doesn't have to be some big expensive 3D cutting edge AAA graphics extravaganza. They could literally make a game using the same engine as these DS games and I would be happy to eat it up just cuz it was a new experience Either way I am astounded that these games are now on modern hardware. Because they are the only Igavania games I didn't play. I've played symphony, and all of the GBA titles but I never had a DS. And I always felt like I was missing out specifically just because of these games alone and not really anything else. And I was afraid that the reason they weren't being ported had something to do with the dual screen and touch screen. So it's awesome to see that they got them out and found ways for the Xbox players to play the game lol The touchpad on the PS5 controller works, and so does the switch portable touch screen though. Anyway it's nice to see some people covering this title because it dropped out of nowhere and I have barely seen any reviews or anything for it
That's awesome, so glad you're finally getting the chance to play these. Konami is smart to have M2 handle these collections they always do top notch work. I really wish Konami would have a talented team develop a new Castlevania game. Wayforward or even swallowing their pride and asking Iga and his team to do one would be good options. Guess we'll see what's next!
The previous castlevania collections were actually horrible on pc. There’s still a glitch in advanced collection that prevents you from using a controller unless you use an external program to remap controller to use keyboard inputs. This one is great now they need to go back and actually fix advanced for them to be out of hot water for pc players. Sorry.
Depending on which system you're playing on I believe it's the top face button. The rightmost button should call her to assist you or allow you to have her stay in place.
Not at all, the DS games are probably around 10-12 hours each depending on how much exploration you do. They have unlockable modes after you finish the game the first time too. Lots of content to keep you busy here.
Order of Ecclesia is underrated and so gorgeous. My all time fav Castlevania game, hot take!!! Rondo, Sympathy, and Order flow together great as a trilogy IMO.
Is it a must buy because Nintendo shut down the DS store? Not gonna stop emulating old games just because companies want a cash-grab. The original developers get paid the same with emulation.
It's only like, $25.00 USD. For me, it's a presentation or convenience thing. I still own the DS originals, but I'm going to buy this to play it in the most optimal way on my Gaming PC.
Most devices running MelonDS or whatever, can't format the screen properly like this. DS on emulation is still rather imperfect. Then there's all the art, extras, and Haunted Castle Remake. Well worth the asking price 👍👍
You guys love fawning over crums. This is why konami doesn't try anymore. But then again, you got a review code. I am sure you are being super unbiased.

Now if they want to make a KILLER 3D collection, they should put Lament of Innocence + Curse of Darkness with a bonus game of CASTLEVANIA CHRONICLES from PS1
I would buy 3 copies
All of the Castlevania Collection have been great! I hope they do the Ps2 era games as well. I actually have a really soft spot for those games and the soundtracks for both are stellar.
Any 3D collection needs the N64 Castlevania, Legacy of Darkness, Lament of Innocence, and Curse of Darkness. And as a bonus, a Castlevania Adventure Rebirth port.
@@christlevania5933 I would love, but seems to much games for one collection, so if they put only those 3 I mentioned I am fine.
I’ve never played a castlevania game (I know, I know). This collection really intrigues me. Think it’s a good spot to hop in to try out the franchise?
If you don't mind the things I mentioned about how they handled the touch screen and the map since they were DS games. Also understand that Dawn of Sorrow is a sequel so you'd be skipping ahead story wise for that game. If these things don't bother you then this is a collection of some really great games that you'll most likely enjoy.
How do you guys beat Frankenstein in Haunted Castle? I’ve been struggling hard lmao
Honestly just slug him and try to kill him as quickly as you can. That worked better for me than trying to dodge his attacks and play smart. Check the description I have my full playthrough uploaded there if you want to see.
I'm gonna buy this, let's see if i become huge Castlevania game too.
😂 Hopefully! We need more Castlevania games in the world.
1:05 So how does it feel to *be* a Castlevania game? 🙃
Also, the first Castlevania on the NES was also the first I played on the system, and also the second game I actually bought for the system too!
Thse games look fire. Ima buy a six pack and download tgem tonite after work.
Enjoy!
These games are fantastic
Next is iron meat let's go
Definitely 😎👍
September is a great month for releases, I'm hoping to make a video on Iron Meat, it looks so good!
i mean, i really bought a dslite and a 500 in 1 cart just for these games.
My Castlevania backlogs getting ridiculous.. Not even counting Bloodstained.. Not complaining tho
Just a new classic style one
That being said though, they should make new ones and not just these collections, because it would be cool enough if they just made new 2D side-scrolling games. Whether they want to do a more traditional linear action platformer, or whether they want to do another metroidvania style game. It doesn't have to be some big expensive 3D cutting edge AAA graphics extravaganza. They could literally make a game using the same engine as these DS games and I would be happy to eat it up just cuz it was a new experience
Either way I am astounded that these games are now on modern hardware. So it's awesome to see that they got them out and found ways for the Xbox players to play the game lol
The touchpad on the PS5 controller works, and so does the switch portable touch screen though.
Sorry.
konami is in the zone with all this releases
hey how do you control Charlotte??
Depending on which system you're playing on I believe it's the top face button. The rightmost button should call her to assist you or allow you to have her stay in place.
@@NicoPlaysIndies I'm going to get it on steam!
7:30 How do I get that chest? Can I do Double jump?
what
Yes
@@NicoPlaysIndies How? I cant reach the chest
Review them so I can get some game tips
Are All The Games 1 Hour Long?
Not at all, the DS games are probably around 10-12 hours each depending on how much exploration you do. They have unlockable modes after you finish the game the first time too. Lots of content to keep you busy here.
@@NicoPlaysIndies ~20 hours on average to get 100% castle rate.
Order of Ecclesia is underrated and so gorgeous. My all time fav Castlevania game, hot take!!! Rondo, Sympathy, and Order flow together great as a trilogy IMO.
Konami did not send you a review code quit lyin.
You just reafirmed orignal DS is the way to go.
Leave it to a ck to choose the only femape led castlevania game as their favorite just because of that
"Even if you didn't like it, still buy this collection" yikes
You guys love fawning over crums. This is why konami doesn't try anymore. But then again, you got a review code. I am sure you are being super unbiased.
It took you two entire minutes to get to the fucking point.
I'd rather have the series dead because anything new would be ruined.
Looks great on ROG Ally. Not so much on my LG OLED.
