    As someone who used these headphones I can confirm they give minimum clarity in high pitch. It's like listening to loud music with your head underwater. You'll hear strong muddy bass and unpronounced muffled high frequencies. I wouldn't recommend them for production or mixing even If you EQ them to best of your ability. I have the portable Marshall Major V (a lot smaller headphones that don't cover the whole ear) and they sound infinitely clearer with beautiful bass. I don't understand how BH 470 could ever be used as a studio gear if regular travel headphones overtake them in sound.

      Thanks for sharing your experience with these. I have found “studio” to be a very “loosely” applied description… Cheers!

    After having these headphones for a year, i can agree. For listening to music in general, as I like a warm full bottom end these are fine but the problem I found is when I wear them for recording and especially mixing, they don't give an accurate representation of what's going on. I think I have a great full sounding mix, but when I sit back proud of myself and then play it through my 8 inch studio monitors, it's actually really thin and toppy. So I will be replacing for that task. I can vouch for them being really comfy and great looking though.

      Thanks for sharing your experience after a year of mixed use. I like to say we can learn the sound signature of headphones (and a room / monitors) for mixing, but these are a bit too far off and lack enough detail to support critical mixing decisions imo as well. Cheers!

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  Год назад +2

      Sound is subjective, but I would recommend the HD681 as it has superior frequency and dynamic response that can be EQ'd to your preferences.

      SR850 has more bas response and more clarity in the mids and highs. I would choose the SR850 over the BH470.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  Год назад +2

      These have poor low end extension / detail and will not provide the information you want to hear when practicing. An affordable set that will do a great job for bass are the OneOdio Monitor 60. I did a review on them and I will say they provide excellent bass extension and detail while performing well above their price. I hope this helps out!

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  Год назад +1

      Thanks! The HD560 and HD400 Pro are the same headphones (confirmed with a Sennheiser representative) with the exception that the HD400 Pro includes a second cable (coiled). I posted a review of the HD400 Pro and have since had the opportunity to test the HD560 and can confirm the frequency response tests are all within 1dB which is well within the tolerance of my tests. Both have slightly underrepresented bass and a roll off above 10KHz. Mids are very well represented but not over emphasized which can be helpful for identifying issues with individual tracks and for mixing.

      @askdrtk  Год назад +1

      The M20x are a very good option. They get a lot of studio use for monitoring drums and guitar and will hold up really well for DM vocals too. They hold up very well in regular studio use, a reasonably comfortable , and you should be able to find a pair for under $75. Hope this helps out!

      @gizzy2403 Год назад

      @askdrtk yeah, it's a shame they would produce something that sounds that bad, especially when they can do much better. You're one of th main reasons I bought th m40x, & I luv them! My only complaint is th hinge assembly on 2 separate pairs have broke. On my 1st pair, it practically exploded on my head! I was in bed & would've sworn my wife punched me😅. That 1st pair I couldn't fix, but th 2nd pair I used a baking soda/super glue hack I found on utube. So far, so good 🤞. It seems that sort of cheap, shoddy build would damage a company's reputation & repeat business opportunities. Besides that, th sound quality is excellent 👌 🍻

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  Год назад

      wow, thanks for sharing what happened with the hinges. I have a couple of pairs I use a lot and haven't had that happen yet. When I put them on now I am going to be waiting for the explosion...lol 🍻

      @gizzy2403 Год назад

      @askdrtk I hope It doesn't happen to you! Both pairs of mine were incredibly squeaky, & before th hinge assembly gave way , th squeaking became even louder. So, if yours aren't squeaky, then
      you should be good. Thanks for listening to my headphones issue🍻
