My guess is that the game was unpolished, the graphics in the trailer look worse especially shadows.
really? I think the old graphics look a bit nicer in most cases haha
@@MasterLordI think the desert shots look better in the trailer, and in the clip with the inklings in the air on the spawn machines. Some of the other ones look better in the final game tho
the 2021 lighting looked very similar to the lighting of how splatoon 1 was tbh, i think and have a very good feeling that they were trying to make the feeling and graphics of the game like splat 1
The game has changed during the days
Alterna looks so darkly lit tbh in the first look of it
The older alterna was so much misterious
I do miss that old skybox, it looked very pretty

I don't agree with the final thoughts. On a technical perspective the lighting has improved, not the opposite.
The global illumination is what makes the shadow less darker, it's more realistic.
Also there is some color adjustment, something that is literally a color slider added in post processing.
While the vignette was a trailer only thing
i'll have to disagree with you there, the old graphics just looked nicer in most cases, especially splatsville. but you are entitled to that opinion like i am with mine.
@@MasterLord you could say that to you is better the old lighting, that's a personal preference and I can't say anything. But on a technical level it's wrong to say there was a downgrade because it actually got better, even the models and texture works
Not sure what is meant by the end thoughts? The graphics have clearly gone through major upgrades. The devs mentioned in a recent interview that they were able to optimize the switch better over time to improve the graphics in subtle ways. Anyway, awesome vid. So cool to see the comparisons after nearly 2.5 years.
I disagree, I think its especially noticeable with splatsville that sacrifices were made in the visual department since the first trailer. but regardless, thank you!
@@MasterLordidk man splatsville looks so much better in the final game compared to the trailer.
well the early trailers still used Splatoon 2’s shaders, so I’m guessing either they were planning on using those but then made new ones, or were using them as placeholders
I kinda like a lot of the older graphics, not all of them of course, but it is true Nintendo had to downgrade the engine the game runs on during development, so I’m ok with it
I do think the old graphics look nicer for the most part yeah, especially the splatsville hub that took a big hit visually. the final game still looks very nice tho and the resolution is a lot crisper than splatoon 2 so i'm also okay with it
@@MasterLord yeah, same here. Maybe splatoon 4 will look something like the og 3 graphics but better for the new system, if we ever get one, that is
Ahh they wanted to show off the bow in that first scene I remember that but of course they have to put the splatter shot junior first bow was complicated to use at first but I'm loving the inkline stringer
Also I have to say the most insulting change was the maps I really wanted that version of scorch gorge would of prob been my favorite new map
they straight up just made scorch gorge and eeltail alley worse for some reason, the old layouts looked so nice.@@Stiiizz
@@MasterLord I still have a bit of hope like in splatoon 2 when they reworked the reef now being one of the best splatoon stages period they can do the same for 3 and at least I feel the devs are kinda listening
No Man's Sky on Nintendo Switch got an update recently which added FSR 2.0 upscaling (coming from 1.0). Splatoon 3 also uses FSR and there is a chance Splatoon 3 may go from FSR 1.0 to 2.0 which would in turn give us sharper resolutions BUT FSR 2.0 is more demanding so some more optimization would need to be done for it to run as well as it does now with FSR 1.0.
Little Correction: No Man's Sky is using a custom version of FSR 2.0, but still it has pretty good improvements over FSR 1.0.
Am I gonna get a lot of Hate for Saying….. I think Actual Game Visuals look better than Trailers.
I personally find the new graphics to be overall better, both visually and in terms of fitting the more colorful visuals of Splatoon.
The originals feature a lot more exposure and thus a lot less saturation in colors, as well as overall harsher, darker shadows. This makes areas like OG Splatsville look like a drab-er, grey-er mess to me.
While yes, it does technically look more “real”, I think it’s best that they kept in mind the fact that color is incredibly important to the series.
the lightning in itself got better on some aspects and worse on others, but i also noticed *texture work on itself took a hit* to them get the extra memory and slap on more screenspace or reflection effects.
what i hate the most is how the old light actually had COLOR it was vibrant it was trying to show it was properly bold instead of just being mid tone af the final ende dup with which totally killed a lot of the scenes.
like at 1:43 you can see the green ball part of the squid hat has more detailed textures but then callie hair is lacking reflections. or the hand of marie having a nicer smoother sheen on the early build which displayed the depth and curves better while the new one is just a mushy playdoh look to it.
its clear that this wasnt supposed to be gated on the switch 1 but they were aiming it to be a cross gen title like how botw was.
Seeing how much has changed makes me even sadder that this game is over in 1 year
They’ll probably update it more than that, for how small the updates are and they might want to keep the fan base later
yes ;w; but given how popular the franchise is, it's fair to assume they will bring out a splatoon 4 eventually
Kinda weird how little they wanna update S3 compared to how much S1 and S2 were updated. We’re gonna get through all the updates and still only have 2 stringers and 2 splatanas 😢
we got robbed man not only in the graphics but also the maps got worse
The graphics actually got better
nah the new ones look washed
@@dashymarc3024 it doesn't look washed... it's lighting is more natural thanks to the new global illumination. Texture work has improved, characters models too, splatville has more details, and reflective surfaces have more reflective proprieties
idk it just looks soulless to me, especially old alterna and splatsville looked miles better
@@dashymarc3024 alterna was darker even though the setting is a snowy land with intense light coming from a dome of lcd panels and Splatville had less details and was more greysh. How it was more alive?
