One thing to also point out is Elegoo's excellent customer service. I've had to have some issues corrected over the years, and they are always fast and easy to work with, getting me spare parts at no cost quickly.
Been using my Mars 4 Max for a year now, it's been amazing. It's my first 3D printer ever, did lots of research before doing resin printing but it's been a great help to print mini's for my in person dnd games, which then incentivised me to paint more as well. SO I would definitely recommend elegoo as well
Started with Mars 3 as my first printer and as someone who printed armies it fast got small and upgraded to the Saturn 3 Ultra and would even in home use never go back to a smaller print area
Lovely made video and would love to buy one but not really ready for it at home just just but saved this video for future reference and be looking out for any updates from you. Glad I found you guys like 15-20 years ago. Forget how long.
Thanks! I’ll be doing a resin 3d printing course in the near future that will cover how to safely use resin printers at home. I’m doing lots of research on the topic!
Elegoo Mars was my first printer. It worked well, even working out of a tiny apartment bedroom with some jack ass equipment. Eventually stopped working and got an actual house so upgraded to an Anycubic Photon. Had some issues with them though and eyeing an Elegoo Saturn one day
I have a Mars 2 Pro. I have a huge backlog of things to print, haha. Definitely yearning for a bigger print bed, but glad to have started with this one.
This is a good review. My Mars 4 DLP has been very reliable. I would like a 5 Ultra but I'm not a huge fan of the build plate design. Good luck with the new channel, I look forward to seeing more videos!
Thanks! I agree that the build plate is a bit of a pain. We just love the vat tilting so much as it speeds up printing and makes it so there are noticeably less failures. But hey, if what you have is working for you, no need to upgrade yet!
Got my mars 4 ultra December 2023 and it changed my whole appreciation for 3d printing. I had dabbled for a few years with the original anycubic photon but there were more failures than successes. That mars though, it just made everything much easier. I mostly print in 10mm scale these days but I decided to get the Saturn 4 ultra a few weeks ago and that is just as amazing a step up. Still use my mars but definitely not as frequently as I used to. Similar to your example I find it useful when a single model fails and needs to be reprinted, lets the Saturn move onto another full plate.
Agreed! It's amazing how much of a difference using a printer that actually works well makes. It allows you to enjoy 3D printing rather than become a 3D printing technician.
Moved from Elegoo Mars to Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra and even missing the tilt mechanism it is a blast and such an improvement. Printing Lots of miniatures so is stick with Saturn. Looking forward to get something thatbtilts in one or two years
Very helpful video! I watched the whole thing! It would have been nice to see print examples for those unfamiliar with your products, however you speak with confidence that rests me assured.
hey matt been following miniwargaming since i was like 10 years old i tried to make a dreadnaught out of quick dry clay lol. 3d printing makes minis way better than clay
I'm running 2 Mars 2P's at the moment , they do all I want them to . Got the pair second hand for about £100 Got a Saturn 2 as well but only use it for prints that are too tall for the Mars
Thx man! Could you do a video on what one would need to Consider if one wanted to print @ home? Thinking about starting but I only have an apartment and two little kids
That'll come eventually. It's more a sensitive subject for resin printing, so I want to get it right. It's different doing it commercially than doing it at home.
Apartments really aren’t ideal unless you have like a balcony and could set up an enclosure with temperature controls. Largely dependant on your climate too. Alternatively having a completely unused room in your apartment that you can dedicate to it I guess but that seems unlikely
In my opinion no because of the size years ago I bought the Mars 2 Pro and in two weeks order the Saturn 1 also a friend that only print miniatures after he bought the Mars move in 2 months to the Saturn. If you have the Money to buy the Mars 5 save a little more and go with a Saturn 4 or the Saturn 3 Ultra they work really good have a bigger build plate and only cost $299.
Question! I live with someone who has breathing issues. My house is small and I am curious about the fume output from these resin printers. Are the fumes an irritant, and how to you address it?
Build plate size for wargaming miniatures is important. Can I get an entire regiment on the build plate or will I need to do multiple print runs to get 24 figures
I had to look that one up! But yes, I promise to give the answer at the beginning for all my videos (if there is a specific question that the video answers).

Good, informative video. Earned a sub.

@Perram Totally agree, post sale support separates good from great companies.
Thanks. I love the level of experience you bring to the discussion and use the time you have on the printers in disctuion.
Thanks! I prefer to give well tested info than just quick knee jerk reactions.
Ty for going straight to the poly will finish the vid now🙏
My Mars 3 Pro is fantastic. I highly recommend it because it is so easy to use and prints me some sharp miniatures.
can it print bigger things like a Necron Doom Scythe maybe? :P

Guys so far my Saturn 5 ultra has been amazing
Edit: had this since jun 2024
Elegoo Mars was my first printer. It worked well, even working out of a tiny apartment bedroom with some jack ass equipment. Eventually stopped working and got an actual house so upgraded to an Anycubic Photon. Had some issues with them though and eyeing an Elegoo Saturn one day
Yeah, Anycubic has been hit and miss with us, and we've tried them quite a bit. That's why the Elegoo's were so nice to work with.
This was all very helpful information, thankyou sir!
Glad it was helpful!

Great video - enjoy that you’re doing your own stuff on here too! :)
Thanks so much!

That’s a good idea actually. I’ll try to remember that for future videos!

It feels particularly appropriate printing Grey Knights on my Saturn printer. My new Neptune 4 max is awesome too
lol, they'll need to make a really small one and call it the Titan Ultra. That would be most appropriate for your Grey Knights.
@@MWG_Matthewmaybe they’ll go the gpu route and make a Saturn 5 Ultra Titan edition
Thank you for a great video, do you have a venting suggestions!!

Dude... I want that t-shirt!

I agree

They are definitely an irritant. I'll address possible solutions in a future video, but in short you need a lot of ventilation to run resin printers.
@MWG_Matthew thank you Matthew. I appreciate the honesty!
Build plate size for wargaming miniatures is important. Can I get an entire regiment on the build plate or will I need to do multiple print runs to get 24 figures
Definitely! The mars is nice because of its size and price, but if you want to print a lot then definitely get the Saturn.
Hey Mathew! Have you tried EPAX printers?
I want to print Terrain, is the Mars good for this?
Huzzah, a BLUF RUclips video, thank you so much.
I had to look that one up! But yes, I promise to give the answer at the beginning for all my videos (if there is a specific question that the video answers).
Now which resin?
I'll make a video about that soonish!
Btw.. love (!) The beard
Thanks! My wife approves so it will stay. ;)
I wish there was a good consumer resin printer that wasn't made in China
I get it. We want to support more local companies. But in the end if a product is well designed and well priced, that is good for the end consumer.
There is absolutely ZERO wrong with standard $16.99 1k bottle of Elegoo, SUNLU or other name brand company resin.
