Driving in Belgium: Snelweg A12 from Antwerpen to Brussel

In this video you can ride along on the A12 between the two largest cities in Belgium: Antwerp and Brussels. The A12 runs in parallel to the A1 E19, which is the main highway between both cities. I have featured this part of the A1 on the channel before: • [4KHDR] Driving in Bel...
I was curious about the A12, which looks like a highway through and through on the map. However, as you will quickly notice in the video, it's a mix of limited access expressway, highway as well as local city road with traffic lights. It passes through some urban areas between Belgium's two biggest cities and therefore carries a lot of local traffic. The N177 mostly runs in parallel and there are regular exits to connect the 2. This is definitely one of the more odd highways I have driven in my life.
Please note that the map and thumbnail are not entirely accurate. I originally planned to also include a segment of the R0 Ring of Brussels in this video but then decided to put that in a separate video.

Great drive! Good grief why the at-grade intersection along A12? Motorways usually don't have intersections but this has it for some reason in this video. This isn't allowed on the Japanese expressway.

Yes not all of A12 is officially classified as a motorway because it doesn't have motorway standards. It has everything of a once local road / expressway that was upgraded over time.

Je video stopt bij knooppunt Strombeek-Bever en niet bij knooppunt Sint-Stevens-Woluwe op de R0 zoals in de inleiding? En de A12 toont op 25km alles wat er de voorbije 60 jaar misloopt met ruimtelijke ordening, design van wegen, consistent wegbeeld verkeersveilighei en gezonde mobiliteitslogica in Vlaanderen. Dit is de Vlaamse versie van een Amerikaanse Express wat of 'stroad' in suburbia. 🤪😲🙄
