Hi Rudy, thanks for a really good demo of this pedal. I liked the way you organised the progression by focussing on one control at a time and varying the others around it, so all permutations of settings were available to objectively assess. I was impressed by how well paced way it was too, sub 8 mins. duration for a four control pedal is just about right in my estimation so another box ticked! I'm looking for a Timmy style pedal and this sounds just what I'm looking for and at a decent price too. Thanks to your presentation, I'm now off to order one.
Hi Gareth, thanks for the comment. I appreciate it very much. I always try to give a good overview of a pedal I'm demoing. It doesn't always work out but that's ok :). With some pedals - such as delay or reverb pedals - I tend to go a bit long, when it's an overdrive pedal it's a little easier to keep it under 10 minutes. Big fan of the Timmy style pedals myself, I hope you enjoy playing this one!
@@RudyBressers Well....now I bought the Joyo American sound (love that warm tones) and we all know who's to blame :P But you can never have enough pedals, can you :)
I have a Pure Sky (Timmy clone) and it’s a great sounding drive, the Orange Burst is also really good, for the money they’re excellent and you can’t complain, you can get the Pure Sky on AliExpress for £20 with free shipping guaranteed within 10days, mine was delivered in 9days to the UK. The Orange Burst is about £24 including free shipping. I’m sure you’ll be happy with whichever pedal you decide to go for. You could also go for one of the their new dual drive pedals, The Brigade is the Pure Sky on one side and their Tube Screamer on the other side, cost is about £50 Other decent dual drive pedals worth looking at are the Brutus, High chief, Nightwolf, Sundance Special, Andes.
Thank you for the video! I got me one and it is a keeper. I don't play with much overdrive mostly and that pedal does the trick very well to add some dirt without messing up the basic guitar sound.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah this overdrive has been on my board ever since i got it. As you say, it's great for those light overdriven tones without effecting the tone.
Great Pedal, if you have a good amp, this really squeezes some good tones out of it, also works with the Joyo American, for a simple solution into a PA, I am very pleased with mine, mainly use with a Marshall and Vox Amps.
Good review, I'm considering to buy this pedal. I saw other reviews but some were more concerned for showing their skills or having a clean sound that was not so clean, anyway... I will buy it
very good demo!! This pedal is really awesome!! Caline make fantastic pedals, but they should try to improve the quality.. The footswitch of my pure sky broke after a very short period of use.. Ok the price is ridicolous, i know, but with a little more charge they could improve the components.. Two minutes after the switch broke i order ed a New one on Ali express.. I can't do without a pure sky.. Orange burst is fantastic too.. And another awesome pedal that many didn't understand was the sand storm.. Looks like they discontinued it.. Shame.. For anyone who wants to buy a caline pedal, i suggest to buy two for each one.. For the price it"s a bargain!!
Thanks! :) It really is a very nice pedal, it has been permanently on my board since I bought it. Haven't had the footswitch give out on me yet, but that did happen on my American Sound once. Luckily I was able to fix it again. That's perhaps the cost cutting you can expect for this very low price point. The Orange Burst wasn't bad either, just not the sound I was looking for. So I sold that one after a little while. Great bang for buck for sure these Caline pedals!
I actually sold my two of these, because I fell in love with the MOSKY Deluxe Preamp( more tweakable...), but just today I ordered one Caline Pure Sky back, a very nice pedal! : )
@@RudyBressers Yeah, just called a guy to whom I sold the two: he´s returning one of them and I´ll sell him a TC El MojoMojo hes interested in: WINWIN foe each one...! : ) the CALINE Pure Sky really sounds almost like the very expensive Vemuram Jan Ray! : )
@@kimmolingonheimo That's a great solution! You can swap some pedals like this without having to buy new ones all the time.. very handy :D. Didn't know the Vemuram Jan Ray, wow that's an expensive overdrive haha.
I'm a little late to the party but... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. So many "reviewers" crank every overdrive pedal ALL the way up. I want to hears it overdrive... NOT distort. If I want distortion... I'll buy a fricking distortion pedal!!!!!!!!!
OMG! This pedal sounds good. I was looking for a transparent OD and I was leaning towards budget Klon clones. I think this pedal is much better. I read that Azor OD is like the Pure Sky?
The Azor overdrive is the mini version of the Caline pure sky as I understand. But they're not 100% the same. The Azor sounds a little more balanced and even more transparent.
Good demo, to point, thanks\ it's a really good pedal I hear people say that for the price it ios fantastic. But I say for any price its fantastic it takes humbuckers, P90s, Strat singles well. it works on all my amps well. On its own, really good. before or after other pedals, really good. Useful; sound across the full range of its knobs Its become a permanent fixture along with King of Tone and Sovtek Deluxe on my board. I need no other drive or distortion or what not other than these three All else either sold or will be sold
Thanks! I absolutely agree, this is a very good sounding pedal.. regardless of the price. I like how it sounds with P90s too, and Strat or Tele single coils. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good overdrive.
That's a difficult choice :). I think the orange burst has a little more drive. So if that's important then that could be the one you pick. For slightly more subtle sounds the pure sky is great. But hard to go wrong with either one.
They're both very nice iom, I think the Orange Burst delivers a bit more drive/distortion, the Pure Sky is maybe better for those subtle crunchy tones. Depends on what you find more important for your sound.
Thank you for going through the full range of the controls. 98% of unqualified pedal demos never turn the gain down below midway. Good job !
You're welcome, glad you liked it!

Great Demo, you had me at no talking and kept me watching with some great playing.
Thank you! :D
Excellent demo. Beautiful guitar playing.
Thanks, I appreciate the comment!
My Compliments Sir... Very few have the know how to actually demo and OD. You covered it !!!
Thank you very much, I appreciate the kind words :)
Tons of clarity throughout the gain levels.
One of the best demos of this pedal, thank you! Now I'm puzzled, was going for the orange burst first, but now ... not so sure anymore :D

😅😅🤣🤣
It gets a bit harsh from half way gain through. It really shines as a low gain drive or as a stackable one with other gainy pedals.
That's how I use it too. And stack other overdrives for more/higher gain.

Definitely, especially with single coils this pedal sounds very nice.

It adds some harshness but your clean sound is already a bit harsh
I do have the treble up quite a bit. Personally I like that, but if you dial back the treble it's more mellow of course.
My always on pedal
how to pedal he is based?
I think it's based on a Timmy overdrive
so this os what i want for my tele and strat jimi vibes sorry just a newbie want to learn the guitar world from key to guitar
It's a good way to get to sounds you like, especially for very little money.
@@RudyBressers yup thanks.
It's simply a 25 buck Vemuram.
why all demo with treble on 8 ? never touch bass control and treble on 8 ever...
Haha sorry dude, maybe a little bit too much treble on this one indeed :)
Sounds like shit when the gain is up. Get the orange one if you want that sound. This one sounds the best with the gain off or around 8 up
Cool lick @5:37!
Thanks! :)
Sounds like a good overdrive... but why sooooo much treble??!! Such shrill tone... especially with the gain all the way up... ditch the pick axe mate.
Haha to each his own my man, luckily you're free to choose the tone you like ;)
