I'd like to amend my comment above. The white square button I press does not take a still picture. I'm not sure what it does.

I have an s23+ , and the button I press to take a still during a video takes it, but it also stops the video. To get a still from video, the Samsung directions say to play through video and identify the frame you want as a still and then click on that frame, and it creates a still.

I just cranked out my Samsung Galaxy S23+ and the white shutter button clearly is visible once I press record for video. I've got the companion stills to prove it, but unfortunately there's not a tab here to upload photos.
