I’m sure Princess Pauahi would have made a wonderful Queen… however I think it’s safe to say that Queen Lili’uokalani was, still is and will always be immensely beloved by her people.

She would have been a good Queen, however, It's her husband Charles Reed Bishop that would have been influencing her decisions, as he had Pauahi sign some of her land away to create Punahou School, which let to educating the many children of the overthrowing Missionary families, and not the native Hawaiians. It's the reason she created the Kamehameha Schools to allow kids of Hawaiian ancestry a chance to be educated to be competitive.
If she was Queen, ALL kids of Hawaiian ancestry would have been educated, unlike now which is limited to her own resources.

The Hawaiian Kingdom DID have an army, clearly the other commenter has no knowledge of the overthrow or the Hawaiian Kingdom.
Our barracks were next to the Palace (where the fraudulent “state” capitol currently is) & they were required to have a minimum of 500 men stationed there at all times. We also had military stationed elsewhere throughout the islands.
The US invaded with 120 men.
We outnumbered them 5-1 and were more heavily armed.
Some people really need to educate themselves. 🙄

The problem was that the Queen asked her people NOT to attack and cause bloodshed, and she said that Justice would be found and asked for the U.S. President, Cleveland to investigate this overthrow. He did, and claimed that the Hawaiian Lands were illegally taken, and that they should be returned back to the Hawaiian government. However Cleveland was voted out and McKinley was voted in, and with that, the U.S. was in a land seizure mode across the many Islands that they could grab.
The US had only 120 men, but when they are aiming their guns and cannon at the Queen, it's the same as someone holding a hostage at gunpoint, or a woman being raped. The Hawaiian people had as much love for their queen as she had for her people not to be killed unnecessarily.
Congress and President Clinton did acknowledge that the overthrow would not have happened without the help of the US military's aid, much in the same way the Ukrainians were invaded by USSR to protect their "Russian Citizens" who were asking for help against the Ukrainians, in the lands the Ukrainians owned. The US government, sent in military to protect the "US Citizens" who felt threatened by their monarch in the land the Hawaiians owned.
If the whole free world including the US feels that Ukraine should keep their sovereignty from invaders who took their lands by force, why is it not the same for Hawaiians keeping theirs?
Because they say Hawaii elected into becoming a territory and then a state? Wrong, most of the Hawaiians still alive during that time petitioned to NOT be a territory, but their numbers were overruled by the many OTHER ethnicities here from immigrants who came to work the plantations and families. The only ones who should determine their fate and future should have been the Hawaiians only, not anyone else. Not the invaders, and not the immigrants who came here.

Correct, because our Queen, unlike America, was a moral woman and also because we are a neutral nation state.
Our Queen knew the US was coming before they even unlawfully entered our sovereign waters, likewise our Queen was well aware the second they pilled into port and unlawfully steppes foot in our sovereign lands. The US marched from the harbor to the Palace… had our Queen wanted to take them out she would have had her soldiers take them out the second they stepped foot on our sovereign lands and her doing so would have just because it’s a violation of international law for a foreign army to enter sovereign territory without prior permission.
Cleveland and Queen Lili’uokalani had actually come to a legal agreement wherein Cleveland would pull US troops in exchange for our Queen agreeing to not prosecute the treasonous insurgents… reluctantly she finally agree, however Cleveland never held up his end of the bargain. In international law this legal agreement is considered a treaty as it was agreed upon by both parties, so even though Cleveland left office and McKinley was elected in, McKinley was actually supposed to continue in upholding that treaty & every US President since is legally obligated to uphold that treaty. Treaties remain intact until the agreed upon terms are fulfilled or until both parties invalidate it, this is why technically we still have open treaties with numerous countries, treaties of friendship, treaties of trade etc.

Its a moot point since the Kingdom had NO ARMY to protect itself and wouldve fallen anyway. They left themselves vulnerable to the inevitable.

    • @The.Hawaiian.Kingdom
      @The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Месяц назад +6

“No army”?!?! The Hawaiian Kingdom barracks, which was right next door to the Palace (where the fraudulent “state” capital now is) had a mandate to have a minimum of 500 men there at all times (that’s just the minimum at the Palace barracks, we obviously had other military stationed elsewhere) The US only invaded with 120 men. Also, Britain, Japan, China and France all offered to aid our Kingdom AGAINST the US, Britain and Japan even sent Navy ships that were in the area to port here & sent word to the US invaders that they were here on OUR behalf to aid us against them.
Now mind you, this was all on the heels of the US civil war, the U.S. had lost a very large portion of its “military aged” men, the US army was weak, we could’ve easily taken the invaders out by ourselves without breaking a sweat, we outnumbered their troops at nearly 5-1 & were more heavily armed.
With the aid of our alies, we could’ve taken the US out altogether. The ONLY reason the US exists today, is because we are a neutral country like Switzerland and our Queen was Christian and knew that if we fought it would result in the death of many Americans and the US would no longer exist. Essentially, she had the morals that the US lacked… and still lacks.

Princess Ruth looked like a badass. She would have fought those US dogs and won! Then Hawaii still would have been an independent country, and Hawaiians wouldn't all be living in North America, like they're forced to do now because of greedy American capitalism.
