F. Chopin : Prelude op. 28 no. 2 in A minor (Kissin)

- Evgeny Kissin plays Chopin's second prelude in A minor op. 28.
"Presentiment of Death" is an immediate contrast, with a slow melody over a fixed accompaniment of four-note chords played two eighth notes at a time.
the jump from minor to major and major to minor is beautiful in this piece
Music is a dream, Chopin was a genius, thank you for sharing and greetings from Ensenada, Mexico.
This was barely Chopin

This so badly needs a transcription for violin and cello. That would sound awesome.
Wholeheartedly agreed.
Skoryk 'alludes' to it in his violin concerto #8 (ruclips.net/video/4ZbsPiUAh9Y/видео.html). Sort of a brief arrangement for violin and bells
This melody is way older then Chopin

Indeed. I did an arrangement of this prelude for symphonic orchestra, you can check it on my channel :)
i'm in my bed listening to this after watching höstsonaten (autumn sonata) for maybe the 15th time, this is perfect, too perfect
autumn sonata, you mean Ingmar Bergman's? I seemed to have heard this tune from there, come to think of it.
@@abgrunder yes ingmar bergman's movie, ingrid bergman plays this prelude in the movie
Just watched the Bergman, a difficult intense film. The prelude was not known to me And I thought the daughter was faltering, then I realised, when the mother played it was the nature of the piece.
I wish this piece extended longer.
This piece is just great! I really enjoy it playing this prelude. I've even played it for my friends wedding.
feels like minimalisme more than 100 years earlier. Beautiful, fascinating and yet so sad...
I love the dimminued chords between major and minor changes so disturbing
I hate when it stops, in the middle to play the melody alone... It makes me hate it, but suddenly I truly appreciate chopin, because of the intention behind the sheet.
Wow. Such a solemn, intense piece created with simple notes.
Perfect for trying to apprehend your life's mission. Oh, and Sony, thank you for posting this for us.
Are you ok, Chopin???
No???
ok :((
This is the greatest piece of music ever written.
Autumn Sonata 💛
What?
@@Henri.d.Olivoir That's a common nickname for it bruh.
@@seank.cunningham3841 seriously, lol? I have never heard it before. And also, it makes absolutely no sense at all, as this piece is far from being remotely similar to a sonata, both in form and style, and its mood is absolutely nothing like autumn
Edit: I did a little research, it seems this piece is played in a movie called "Autumn Sonata", so this is not a nickname, it's just the name of the movie it is in
beautiful movie and prelude
@@Henri.d.Olivoirit’s also in sunrise: a song of two humans!
For some reason, I get the mental image that the left hand is a painting - perhaps a Munch - and the right hand is the art expert talking about the painting.
imho this is simply one of the darkest pieces ever written
Not only darkest but also dissonant.
Precedessor of Schoenberg
With Chopin’s prelude no.4,20 and sonata op.35 third movement
Hauntingly Beautiful x Chopin
I have come here after reading "Tara" by Mahesh Dattani, a play by an Indian writer. Tara which means star and it's suppose to shine, but Tara's (a girl) story is something different whose life has no light. Born as a conjoined twins with her brother, because of social system which gives less importance to a girl child and whose rightful leg is forced to give to his brother after the surgery. The status of women and the sacrifice they make specially in India is well portrayed by Dattani in the play.
Same
This piece feels dark and lonely
you find? I think it´s hopeful!
gnarlissimo
This piece feels like a metaphor for life
it's Chopins take on a gregorian chant about death....

I donno why, but chopin gives me mad radiohead vibes
So real
To me, this piece is really painful to listen to because of the awkward dissonances that all of the bass chords cause. However, it resolves itself in the end with nice harmony. It's not my favorite, but maybe it was intended to be unsettling.
I recommend watching Ingrid Bergman's (character) describe this Prelude in the film Autumn Sonata...

Dissonance is the best!
Bla, bla, bla...
Dissonance makes things interesting.
Whatever you do, don't look up Scriabin sonata 7
lovely
j ai découvert ce morceau dans Hannibal saison 2 et je l adore
Disgusting and horrendous place to find such beauty. Such a pity. Watch something positive instead.
wwbenee Hannibal was a masterpiece..it’s an art. There’s no problem if someone likes Hannibal and Chopin in the same time
I’m also here from Hannibal!
@@wwbenee jesus relax
the genius is to make major chords sound painful. When everything goes dark...
A performance marked by incredibly sensitive control and such refined restraint... profoundly moving...
u good, chopin
*magnífico*
If Chopin was a musician today it would be DOOM METAL
this music sound in the museum of horror in Berlín, while you see the saddest photos ever seen from the judish in the second war. the experience is incredible, music couldnt been chosen better.
This is in a 4/4 signature with a low bpm around 55 right?
+Mr “Nobody” Blank It's in cut time.
Which means it is 27.5 bpm. I would still feel 55 anyways.
Its not perhaps, it is a 4/4. Its written on the score i Have @home
Your score is wrong unless it looks like the one in this vid. "Cut time" (the C symbol with the line through it as it appears on the score in the vid) is 4 quarter notes, 2 main beats ONE two THREE four, it is a shorthand for 2/2.
Nice breathing and rubato!
This at least resembles atonality. Is this the beginning of how atonality became a thing?
Chopin was the first composer to actually go there, yes, and not just in this prelude. There are several pieces of him that have atonal and dissonant structures or phrases.
Hannibal
Season 2 episode 12.
The harmonies are so Hannibal coded.
man chopin must’ve been a really sad guy
nah, he was just doing a cover

Belíssimo
It's sad but I like it.

This is my favorite piece by Chopin because it sounds nothing like him.

This is dark af
an awful, dreary, tragic little piece - and Kissin makes it shine in all its painful gloom
טיפה לחם ומשפחה וחברותא תלמידים והיאחזות באנושיות.
Autumn Sonata brought me here
4/4 perhaps but this piece is written with 2 beats
Jean-rené K it is written in 2/2 tho
Yeah it’s a C with a slash meaning half common time aka 2/2
My real question is:
Why chopin indicates this piece as A minor, but it is actually e minor?
But it is in A minor.
No it isn't. F sharp in bar 5 is clearly out of tonality. The bass contains b a# b g, that has no sense in a minor, but in e minor it is playing around the dominant b of e minor
@@newton1372 most of it is harmonically ambiguous but the last cadence is V7 to i in a minor and the last ten measures are easily in a minor. Also to establish e minor you would need a V to i cadence in e minor. Not only does that not happen in this piece, but nowhere is there a b dominant chord that resolves to an e minor chord. The first three measures is an e minor chord which then becomes a I 64 G major chord, then a D7 dominant chord that resolves to G major. The next chord is a b minor chord. None of this indicates a tonality in e minor. Hope that helps.
It more closely resembles the 3rd mode of C Major known as E Phrygian with an A sharp.
E minor would have an F Sharp accidental.
Like per chi è italiano e per chi lo guarda dopo il 2020👍
