      Thank you, Toby. This video was great at explaining how to set everything up. Picked up a 16GB ProX2 yesterday while it was on sale. I'm happy that it's able to use the dedicated RATE button on the 7D2 and only send over what I want. WiFi transfer is the only thing I really use with WiFi.

    I would suppose that canon has not added wifi, possibly due to ever changing technology, if your camera has wifi and for some reason it becomes incompatible with some new wireless file transfer then your camera would not work anymore. but if all you need to do is buy a wifi card or some other device for wireless transfer than your always current and never limited, but not limited canon

    Hey Toby
    Any idea on the approximate range for the wifi signal?
    I'm wondering: if I had the software on my laptop, how far away can I wander away from it and still transfer images successfully?
    Thank you for sharing all the quality free content!

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  9 лет назад

      John Campbell With line of sight I can get 30-50 feet easy. Sometimes a little more. Depends lots on the camera you slide the card into - how solidly built is it, how much it blocks the signal.

    I know it's a while ago - but found this very nice video. I tried to follow the steps, but my iPhone losses the connection to the Eye fi as soon as I set the card into the camera. Any suggestions. I've increased the timings in the setup to 3 mins. Hitting the rate button doesn't activate the network....

    Toby, with that Wi-Fi can we stream video to our PC to project in full screen the video with our projector? I understand that feature is possible with the canon 70D, right?

    How reliable are Eye-Fi cards? Sure, any form of media storage has the chance to fail at any given time, but expecting photos to transfer and for them ending up not going through for whatever reason is a bit off-putting. Currently shooting with a 6D & 1D4 atm and would like some sort of extra "backup" in the form of immediate wireless transfer

    Does the eye fi card only give you to images stored on the eye fi card? I am just wanting to be able to pull selected pix from my 7D2 to my iPhone to send as a comp, or maybe instagram.Can you still use the rate trick to send photos you select to your device using the less expensive mobi cards?

    Curious as I'm also looking at the FlashAir II which is an option and have a question about the eye-fi card. My question is this...does it connect to the tablet/phone and need a wifi router to connect to transfer aka part of an established network or does it create its own network hotspot? Earlier posts shows that eye-fi has to be part of a network wifi connection to work vs toshiba creating its own hotspot. Basically do I have to have a portable wifi router as well or just my tablet/smartphone and camera in the woods? Thanks.

    What is the estimated transfer time for Raw files? If I'm shooting and want to share the real time images with a client/creative director, would you suggest making the transfers in jpeg only; or is there an alternative for tethered shooting? Thanks.

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  9 лет назад

      Robert Nicolas Long USB cord and shoot tethered to Lightroom. - That would be my suggestions. RAWs can be quick if you are nearby - just a few seconds but there are pauses at times so a wired approach is going to give you better, more consistent results.

    Is it possible to shoot only RAW photos, with only the Eye-fi card inside my 7D, then transfer any RAW photo (only the ones I choose) to my Samsung S5 and be able to see the photo correctly in my Smartphone camera roll (and send it through whatsapp?
    I ask you that because I have a wified G7X and I´m not able to manage RAW files with Canon official app, and would prefer not to shoot in RAW+JPEG mode with my 7D :( .
    Thank you so much and congrats for your chanel (also sorry about my english if I wrote any "trash" :)

      Using the ProX2 cards from Eye-Fi www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/896329-REG/Eye_Fi_eye_fi_16pc_16GB_SDHC_Memory_Card.html?BI=4773&KBID=5287 you can transfer the RAW files you choose. I don't know about the S5 but I suspect you will need a program that can view and decode RAW files, only then will you be able to see them in the camera roll. Let me know if you find that it can show them natively.

      its quite possible you are shooting at higher ISOs than you should. I had the same issues when I was first starting out. Pay attention to your ISO and don't expect shots to be super clean when you look at them at 100%
