Torquay is a seaside resort town on the English Channel in Devon, south west England. Known for beaches such as Babbacombe and cliffside Oddicombe, its coastline is nicknamed the English Riviera. Torquay Harbour near the town centre offers shops, cafes and a marina. Torre Abbey, a monastery founded in 1196, has art galleries and extensive gardens featuring plants from local writer Agatha Christie's novels.
Its attractions have been officially recognised by TripAdvisor, which named Torquay as the UK's top seaside resort - an award that's very much worth having: “These awards are based on millions of reviews and ratings by those that really matter - travellers themselves,” said TripAdvisor spokesperson James Kay.

...I'm from Torquay, but live abroad now, (45 years away) just seeing how colorful, healthy looking, peaceful, well looked after, beautiful layout, fresh air and blue skies people walking fast, especially the women...has knocked me back, it's like a dream land compared to here in Taiwan, (22 years here) here its drabby buildings, unkempt, boring environment, people walk slow here, polluted rivers everywhere. People drabbely dressed. Such a VAST difference. Sometimes I wish I never moved from Torquay. What a contrast!

Whats it like in February? I'm going here half term school holidays from Yorkshire with my daughter who as additional needs she's 10yrs old we going with Caledonian travel 4days break hope it's worth thev 5& half yrs drive ek I thought I would go somewhere different staying at torbay hotel.
