When Bay started making his Transformers movie in 2007, I think Peter never actually auditioned for the role, never had to, because they had a clear idea, who should do the voice, so they directly approached him. Casting is for people to show their qualities, but they already knew Peter's qualities, as he did the voice for this character in the past.
I agree. I tried briefly watching cartoons when someone else voiced Optimus Prime. They may almost mimic the voice, but they can't capture Peter Cullens' soul that he puts into Optimus Prime. He brings that something extra to the character. He seems like a genuinely nice, humble man who is a true gentleman. He based OP on his brother Larry, so OP is that much more special to him. 😎❤
