- The initial checkout of a TPI 18" floor fan, model F-18-TE.. I think this is the best fan currently on the market! I am extremely impressed with the build quality and the performance.. It is on par with the old Patton high velocity fans..

Awesome fan! Wish box fans still had this level of quality
Me too, there's really nothing in terms of box fans that's really good anymore.
Very cool to see a newer fan that is well built and easy to service. Good investment so it would seem. We have a few of the 30” pedestal variety at work. Older models made in USA. Those are surprisingly quiet, although the blades are narrow and not pitched so much. Great fans.
Agreed, I hope this will last for quite a few years.
You're scaring me with that fan so close to the edge!
Hello! I just recently received a TPI CF-18 (1 step below the f-18). My initial impression is that it is very nice. It moves a decent amount of air (more than a box fan, but not as much as the F-18). It has 3 distinct speeds, and the motor windings appear to be pretty well built (not like those Lasko joke motors). I was pleased to see that the motor does in fact appear to have oil ports (sleeve bearing motor) and the label on the fan seems to indicate a thermal switch is used instead of a thermal fuse for protection. The blades came slightly out of balance, but nothing like my old fan that vibrated the floor. (I used to have a Patton from the 90s). The CF-18 does seem to at least somewhat deserve the TPI brand name and I think its still better than most fans you can buy (if you don't want to pay $140 for the f-18). This fan also has minimal amounts of plastic which I like.
*info*
Fan: 3 speed, Fully Assembled, Auto Reset Overheat protection, Includes cord wrap around, Comes apart using screws.
Motor: TPI MCU45-12060C, 120V 60Hz 1.05A (single phase), includes oil ports for servicing
Lets hope it lasts for quite a long time! Just some information for anyone of you looking for a nice high velocity fan.
Yet another quality product!
Agreed!
Now that's what I call a solid built fan, by today's standards! 👍
Even by the higher standards of years ago, this is still quite solid..
I definitely agree 👍
Now THIS is what I call a fan!!!
Me too.
Looks powerful
It is..
Yup that fan is strong for its size and delivers great performance I have utiltech fan 20 inch high velocity fan
Thanks for letting me know.
I just realized that the motor sound emitted sounds a lot like my air conditioner outside condenser unit.
The blade shape of this is very similar to a lot of condenser fans..
That's epic
Shepherd Wolf it’s very epic
OK
POWERFUL AND GOOD BREEZE
True
I'm sure it's more than a breeze, I'm sure that those TPI fans could release a powerful wind.
I Love The sound of this Fan!!!
Me too
Where can you buy?
Please keep us posted on how these hold up.
I haven't used them heavily, but thus far, no issues to date.
I like it
OK
Does TPI make this fan in any other sizes or only 12" and 18"?
There is also a 24”..
Wow bro that's ridiculously powerful lol on all 3 speeds and Yes it has the oil ports my favorite part now i can see why your waiting to it gets super hot to use it and why you use the 12" one more because its power also bro the motor is a full size motor like Mcmillian and the capacitor is huge too it doesn't have to have a startup sound to be a good fan i enjoyed the video ... Can't wait to see more videos of it soon in the future lol
I agree it does not need a startup sound for a good fan because my fans have regular motors without startup sounds except the box fans and they still blow air
This fan is a whole lot better than the lasko 3733 if it does not shake at and really powerful and a full size motor and capacitor like patton did because lasko box fans always shakes even a little bit if not bad and there motor is tiny and underpowered
@Lemont,SoManyFans Thanks bro glad you enjoyed the video.. I'll have some more videos of this to come soon, comparing it with different high velocity fans..
@@JordanU Bro you got to get the 24" floor model with the same motor even more powerful then the 12 and 18 lol
@@LemontTheFanMan I want it but I have to figure out somewhere to put it first.
That’s a powerhouse bro! this sure does beat walmart quality
Just about anything beats WalMart quality
There's a 24 inch version on Amazon too, same stand and all. But that'd probable be a bit much for home use ....
I would probably be great for keeping the bugs off the patio in the evening. I'd get one if I had the space to store it.
Inflation pushed this thing up to 200 dollars unfortunately, but it’s my dream fan so I’m definitely buying one
The material shortages could be contributing to the price increase too. Even at 200 dollars I still think it's worth getting.
Wow this appears to be very solidly built. Other then there not being enough difference between speeds, I have to say this is probably one of the best HV fans on the market. Definitely better than the Air King. Would this beat the HV21 in terms of air movement?
The speeds is one area where the Air King is far superior.. All the speeds being so fast diminishes the usefulness of this fan, at least in my use cases.. I suspect the HV21 probably has a higher CFM rating as it has much more surface area, but this may have a greater velocity.. There's a number of fans I want to do a side-by-side comparison with of this.. Videos to come....
@@JordanU You should compare this to the HV18
@@andrewg593 That is on the list..
@@JordanU
Compare it to a Lasko 3733, I bet the 3733 is going to scream worthless if you do.
There's no point, that's like comparing a chair to a door..
Looks like they used shovels for the blades! :D
Sometimes a simple design is the best.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE........ FULL SPEED!!!!
OK
Can you compare it to a Patton, Lakewood, or Air King.
Yes
Is this worth getting for the money that they are? I’m thinking about going one
Absolutely.
It's worthy to mention that this has a slightly less powerful motor than what the Air King uses, 1/8 HP instead of 1/6. Ironically, the 12" TPI has a slightly larger motor than the 12" Air King, 1/12 as opposed to the Air King's 1/20 HP motor. However this is well worth it for what seems to be much more stringent quality control than what I've seen out of Air King/Lasko in recent years
I think a lot of the Air King's power gets lost in the weight of the blade.. This motor appears to handle the blade with much more power than the Air King.. Another item of interest, the Air King is rated at 3,190 CFM, while this TPI is rated for 2,900, for whatever those ratings are worth.. Standing in front of the two, each one's air stream feels very different.. Multiple future videos will explain that in more detail..
There's a difference between CFM and wind speed. CFM is just a measure of how many cubic feet of air the fan is capable of pushing per minute. Wind speed on the other hand is a measure of how fast the wind actually comes off the blades. It sounds to me like the TPI, though pushing less air in CFMs, pushes air off the blade faster than the Air King does, and wind speed makes an immediate difference when it comes to direct cooling
@@whoisthisguy724 I don't want to spoil the video too much, but when I tested the 12" models, the Air King felt stronger when close to it, but the TPI could be felt from much further away..
I’ve got a 12” TPI on order so stay tuned for a similar video
Where can I get a 24” one at
Try Ebay and Amazon. com
Global Industrial
Ugh, even less difference between the speeds than the 12! Other than that, just about perfect. I suppose in the use case this is intended for the speeds don't matter too much anyway.
In the intended use case, it likely isn't a problem.. Unfortunately in my use case, all the speeds being so fast does diminish the usefulness of it..
Even though motor is very powerful
That doesn’t make sense.
Sounds like old airplanes!
OK
The blades are probably about as balanced as an airplane propeller. For how powerful this air circulator is, it definitely makes a perfect workshop fan.
Agreed
Lol it sounded like airplanes with propeller
OK
it sounded like IAE engines.
OK
A 20" version would lift the house off the ground .....
There is a 24" version, very intrigued by it but I have nowhere to store it.
