A good cover is one that shines a light on the songwriting. We replace the timbres, maybe even the rhythms or the chord voicings, but we keep the underlying structure and melody, and by relating the cover to the original, we can "factor out" the differences to get a clearer look at what's underneath.

Because whatever you interpret it as, it's sad yet motivating, depressing but also uplifting. For me personally, it reminds me of all the hard times you will inevitably go through in life, but how you will always be able to push back eventually, until you can't, and then you've pushed life to be as good as it can be.
