at the time of this game me and the wife lived in norman. i woked at the boomerang grill on main street and it was dead. i was standing in the lobby as the cashier wiping the same table over and over so i could look busy. i was trying everything i could to keep quiet but my boss sent me home. as i walked home 4 blocks away i could hear the fans screaming as bradford and the sooners tore tech apart!!! this is one game i will NEVER forget for the rest of my life.
I wasn’t aware that they weren’t completely healthy. OU had its chances, but the end zone pick and running the same play 4 times at the goal line proved too costly.
I remember watching this game with my old man. My pops said this about half way through the 3rd Qtr, “Bob Stoops is whopping Mike Leach’s ass like he’s a red headed step child.”
I remember the 3-way tie in the Big 12 South. OU beat Tech, Texas beat OU, & Tech beat Texas. It was close, but OU got the slight nod over Texas in the standings. I don't think MIssouri would have beat any of these 3 teams. I also remember, how at Bedlam in Stw, some Texas fans had paid an airplane to fly over Boone Pickens Stadium pulling a banner on the back that had the score of the OU-Texas game. Wasn't enough. If Texas would have made that interception in Lubbock, who knows how different things might have been? Boomer!!
I'll never forget this game. We were on a bus heading back to Norman from a high school debate tournament & all the while I'd been getting updates from an actor who'd signed up for ESPN text alerts as well as texts from friends watching at their homes. Once we arrived back at Norman High I hopped off the bus to run to my car & was met with what I thought was the dull roar of traffic...only Main Street traffic was fairly dead. That's when I realized I was hearing the roar of the crowd from the stadium a bit over a mile away lol. Made it home in time to see Norman's best attempt at being Madison, WI as "Jump Around" played over the PA haha. What a game.
I remember the Sooners the best team in America got beat by Texas that year too somehow the Red Raiders bailed us out by beating Texas Oklahoma was favored and played like it. Nobody was surprised that's what happens in Norman
As an Oklahoma this is by far the best team they had. They should have gone 14-0 and beat Florida even without Murray they had everything and an NFL oline
I'm not gonna hype up too much because the first two games were against teams we knew we should beat, but allowing just 1 touchdown in the first game and zero in the second I have to say has me pretty excited for this season. We have some things to clean up on both sides of the ball (mainly our O-line) but this team looks like they have bought in to their respective systems.
0:28:38 Michael Crabtree!! (play called back by penalty) but still flashing his insane talents. What a play right there! OU really kept him in check the rest of the game though.
There is no doubt in my mind, if OU had not been missing Murray plus a couple starters on defense, OU beats Florida for the NC in 08. But, as Don Meredith once said, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts then we'd all have a merry Christmas.
Man I miss this old Big 12. A&M, Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Colorado, Iowa State, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Baylor, the original Big 12 that could more than compete with the other P5 conferences. Texas and the Big 12 commissioners ruined this conference. Now OU is off to the SEC. Absolutely unbelievable.
Listened on radio while taking my new fiance to Az to meet my mom. I told her just remember Bradfords name and u love the sooners and mom will love u lol.
What makes this really wild is that this was sandwiched around Tech teams not quite as good as this one beating OU at Lubbock in 2005, 2007, AND 2009. That says all you need to know about the Sooners' invincibility at Owen Field.
@@Landry_Longhorns_Fan P.S. - No self-respecting Sooner calls it Gaylord Family Stadium. Only school administration & the media do, out of formality. Fans just call it “Memorial Stadium”, “Owen Field”, or “Palace on the Prairie”. 😉
Herbstreit and Musberger were a great announcing duo back in 2008.

See what happens in Norman when Oklahoma actually gets to play a night game. Way too many 11am kickoffs the past few years
That's changed in 2021 a little bit. ABC rewarding OU for jumping to the SEC.
I'm a major Tech fan. I really miss when ESPN gave us night games.
Boomer sooner
R.i.p.#12 Austin Box..
This 2008 team was sooo impressive. Great Athletes at every position. It's a shame Murray and Bradford weren't even 70% healthy against Florida.
I wasn’t aware that they weren’t completely healthy. OU had its chances, but the end zone pick and running the same play 4 times at the goal line proved too costly.
Murray did not play at all in that game
Watching this with Venables as the DC has me excited for Venables as the HC.
My dad and I couldn't remember how this game went so we put it on. After Oklahoma's first drive, we both knew this game was going to be a blowout.

@@SoonerBear still think Texas should’ve gotten the nod but I don’t know if anyone could beat Florida
@@SoonerBearMizzou would have boat raced TTU. Just like they did in 2007.
That O line was nasty.
Well it was Mr Musbergers best call of all time. A stomping in Norman he called most of Oklahomas game that season

This year's O-line and Dillon Gabriel needs to watch this game to see how it's done

SOONERS: Gators won the Natty against sooners lol
Welcome home Brent!!!
Maybe the best O line I’ve ever seen at the collegiate level and I’m an OSU alum
As an Oklahoma this is by far the best team they had. They should have gone 14-0 and beat Florida even without Murray they had everything and an NFL oline
As a Tech fan, this game crushed my dreams....
Gosh how I miss the old big 12. Such a wonderful night game atmosphere
This was on my 17th birthday. What a present

Demarco Murray was a STUD!!! IF only he played against Florida 😢
Two future ou head coaches on both sidelines in this game
Loudest game I have ever been to
This is awesome! You’re the man!
Such a sad story of what happened to Chris Brown after he had such an epic career at Oklahoma.
I was on campus corner, everyone was fired up the whole game
Funny to see the phone calls come in in the upper left corner.
Would love to see that type of team now,,,,,
