Never as clean as when you peel them. Also I find it that the mushrooms have a more delicate taste when peeled and the peel wont ruin the mushrooms taste because of all the dirt stuck on the peel that never comes all out even if washed also won't taste like dirt.
Yes, just wipe them off with damp cloth. Mushrooms are grown in a sterile environment. Washing them will make them soggy, dilute the natural juices and not brown well. And besides, even if bacteria or other microbes were present, there's no washing method that completely removes or kills them, its cooking them that kills them.
After removing the bottom stem I remove the top skin of the button area to clean it properly. After washing all the dirts then put this in hot water for 2 mins if any insects in that umbrella area. It becom lil soggy. B
Depends on how badly it is bruised. If you're the one eating it, I'd say don't worry about it if it doesn't bother you. You can always use the bruised/not pretty mushrooms for something like a pasta filling, soup, etc. where you can't tell it's bruised.
A little bit dirty, there was a bug crawling from underneath where the steam was, I just dumped them in some water with baking soda, they still look dirty after wiping them with a paper towel not to mention the germs from other people touching them
Maybe at home I guess? You do this in a kitchen you’ll be immediately removed from your position….you’re doing multiple boxes containing hundreds. If you can’t slice at least 100 in under 7 minutes you’re not prepping
Yes I'm sure this method would not work in a restaurant 😂 This is geared to home cooks. I am curious though, what is your method for cleaning mushrooms in bulk at restaurants?
With mushrooms the cleaning is just passing a cloth to clean the dirt, you can use a little bit water, but keep in mind that mushrooms absorb a lot of water.
@@voixlavoixI peel mine for extra cleanliness and this eay I also don't taste its dirt in my food and it's a much more delicate taste. Still has nutrients even after peeling.
The heat from cooking kills off any bacteria. Wiping the dirt off gets rid of any taste of uncleaness. By wiping dirt off and cooking it, it tastes good and is harmless
You realize mushrooms will suck all nastiness you try to wash off with water because they... absorb damn water 🤡 Wiping them is cleaner like srsly And if its extremely dirty (but where you'll find them like this?) you DON'T WASH THEM, YOU PEEL THE SKIN OFF

Coat the mushrooms with all purpose flour or corn flour and then wash them off with water, you would get clean white mushrooms.

So you don't clean the dark stuff inside?
Not unless you see dirt in there. The inside is very delicate.
If a mushroom is brused can it still be eaten?
