  • In conversation with Emily Murch, Hand Weaver and Dyer.
Can any video do justice to the exquisite shawls and scarves Emily weaves? Everything she creates has 'intent' - the selection of the patterns, the threads, the colours she skilfully hand-dyes, and the way the finished cloth hangs in balance on the wearer.
Inspired by the fabulous natural beauty that surrounds her home in the Peak District National Park, the colour palette and weave create a multi-sensual experience. No two are ever the same. You won't find her work on sale online, because it's only by touching, feeling , wearing her garments - as well as soaking in the depths of colour and pattern - can you appreciate fully each unique piece.
If you want to find Emily's work, check out the Peak District Artisans' website for events she's attending, or follow her on Instagram or Facebook as @hummingloom.
Thanks to Ian at High Stone Gallery for the still photos

Great interview! Interesting exploration of a journey from law to the Civil Service to creating a baby which then led to creating miraculous works of art in silk and yarn. A more satisfying creative arc would be hard to find. 👌❤
