Sonny You make a very nice Video and even better h. I have many now and You convinced me to get some more. Gone a bit out of fashion but with Your help they come back and more back! USA gardeners are all beautiful people and teach it so well. In Australia I am now hooked on it again and again!
Ahhhh i love this video. So,they take a whole year of work to change color go it. I have 2 hydrangea one in a spot where it is shielded from morning sun by a building. It gets afternoon sun and has never produced more than 2 blooms. Oh, how it breaks my heart. The other in a pot I feel uncertain about where to plant, but I think since this video I have a better idea now. Tell me if I dig up the other next to the building will it bloom still?
Mi planted my hydrangea in sun and its.wilting all day Can I move it now to shaded area. Its also budding. Plant is a lacecap. Love your videos hope you can help. Love my hydrangea.
Hydrangea are beautiful. I have about 40 in my yard. Generally speaking there is no true 'red hydrangea' only (different shades and intensity of the pink color). To get the red color you desire you will need to add lime to your soil to raise your soil PH level.. To get blue color you will have to lower your soil ph by adding a soil acidifier-- I prefer the organic/all natural products. Remember changes in the flower color generally happen the following year..
I have some in pots and they do fine but I live in 5a Zone in the USA--my care of them are just a little different. I have to put them in the garage in the winter. Since you live in a tropical climate. It will definitely need to be place in the shades and you may have to water more often to prevent the soil from drying out. They perform better when they have consistent moist soil and some shades and fertilizer (so you will have plenty of flowers). Good luck!
Here's something to try. When you cut the flowers smash the bottom of the cut stem with a hammer to open it up, then put them in a vase with a teaspoon of Alum (buy it at the chemist). Guaranteed to make them last much longer in the vase.
Thanks Allen - we have hydrangeas in the back garden and they have been thriving for years with no shade. This year we planted 2 in front and they just died probably of dehydration because we did not water them enough. Can't blame the sun because the ones at the back are happy in the sun. 1 When is the best time of the year to plant and 2. Do you have any tips for a sunny spot
Hydrangeas are my new favourite flowers. Hello Allen, is it possible to grow in pots? I live in Singapore, tropical humid climate here. They are really expensive to buy here costing about 15 dollars a stalk. Love to get some advise from you. Tk u. Malathy
I planted 2 mophead hydranges in front of my house which is the north side, only get little morning sun. I have had these almost 3 months. THe problem they are having is something is eating the leaves. Now I spraying Neem insect repellent on them. Is there anything else I can do to keep the leaves from getting eaten up. The bloom on one was purple the other pink and these are fading to green which is ok for me now. I just concern about the leaves.
I can not get my Hydrangeas to bloom. I have 3 different types, they all look like crap. They start to bloom but petals are small and stay small. I had the same problem last year, thought it was because I pruned wrong or too much. I don't prune anymore, I feed them in the spring, I water when dry, they get 8-10 hrs of sun. What more can I do?
I have just bought 5 beautiful hydrangeas. (12 inches high blooming) I plan to do some brick raised beds because there are lots of tree root to dig them out and I know they will come back. I will not plant them under a tree. They will get morning sun. My question is how high should the raised bed be. The roots will be under the raised bed and would that present a problem for the hydrangea.
It’s so beautiful but it’s required cold weather and a lot of follow up I wish I can plant it in my garden I can plant it inside only with air condition help 😄
isu sah yes they grow from cutting. Make sure you use the woody part for it and apply rooting hormone. Honey can be used as substitute for the hormone. Good luck!
My mop head Hydrangeas did not like shade at all. I don’t know where everybody is saying part sun mostly shade because I had mine in morning sun and they never bloom for five years. Now in full sun bloomed beautifully.
Great vid but the editor may have qualified it as thumb down bc as the host was describing a visual...there was no example...the host was ignored. Yes, there was one at the end but it moved so fast it defeated the purpose of the content.
+rickster348 Are you feeding it? Does it have enough root space to grow? You need to prune them also….I prune mine in winter but others will tell you otherwise. Perhaps ask your garden centre?
+Captain Coco - I've given it a little Miracle Grow, epsen salts, etc., I'm afraid to trim it because it's so small, (around 3 feet). It's bloomed but just little flowers., And as of today, (4-18-16, zone 5), it ain't lookin' very hot. I'm thinking I might dig around it and loosen the soil a bit and ad a little more Miracle Grow. -Thanks.
It is from Japan. Nice to meet you, I see it, and thank you for a hydrangea. As it is splendid, I register Channel! I am glad when you can see my Channel if good. Thank you in advance.

Help, Brown thumb here. I left my Firelight in the sun too long and now its wilted pretty bad. Should i trim off the blooms?
Give them plenty of water and put in partial shade for a few days if it is in a pot.
Thank you so much, blessings to you always, Annie

My hydrangea developed black spots on the leaves. How can I treat this.
Sounds fungal, prune affected leaves and avoid top watering.
really grt thx nice
Soooper 😚😚😚
Sooooo jealous! Mine are small! Probably because there are a lot of roots near them they probably can't grow
Beautiful fawas
Do these grow from seeds? I bought what I was told is hydrangea seeds. seeds looks so small like dust I was suspicious
Yes many bush seeds look like that.
you can also take a mature flower, cut it really short and put them in water, the root will start growing
@luvflowers1 thank you for the information :)

- I planted one three years ago and it's hardly grown. It looks ok but it just hasn't grown much. Any Hydrangea doctors out there??
