Thank you very much Hannah 🙏 thank you for taking the time to explain this beautiful looking sewing machine. Toyota should compensate you with a new machine for your explanation video. ❤
Wow! Best video so far on RUclips! I have been looking to find videos with explanation and yours helps a lot. I will look if you have more about selecting stiches on screen. It's my first computerized from an older lady and do not have manual with this sewing machine. Thank you a lot!!!
@@annajanus5097 isn’t it just the best machine?! I personally have never oiled mine (but I do just ignore maintenance things) and in the manual I can’t find any section that says it needs oiling, however I’ve just found you can buy oil specifically for this machine and I know people say every sewing machine needs oiling at some point in its life.
Hi Hannah, I'm new to my Oekaki Renaissance, I've used it successfully but one day later found it is only sewing on the spot ...no forward stitches created. I cannot work out what I've done, is there a function or button to rectify? Thanks in advance for advice. Thérèze
Hi Thérèze! There is a switch at the back of the machine, underneath the sewing “table” which brings the feet back up into position. It’s a bit stiff and not THAT easy to find but that should help, also ensure after you’ve filled your bobbin to slide that stick back all the way across. I hope that fixes things!
Has anyone successfully used a flower stitch presser foot on the oekaki? Cause i couldnt... Tried million different things but stitches just wont come out.... Upper thread doesn't catch bobbin thread 😭 any1 knows how to use it o is it incompatible? Thx!!!
What is the heaviest fabric you’ve sewn on this?? I would really like to get one of these for the embroidery side but I need to get a machine that can sew through webbing. Really enjoyed watching you embroider on it and it makes me want it that much more! I hand embroider but this is a whole nother level!! Hope you’re doing well!
Oil Face thank you so much! Oh yes it’s an excellent addition! The heaviest I’ve sewn is 2 layers of heavyweight wool with 2 layers of linen canvas, which was also pleated so it was pretty hefty. The machine, I felt, sort of punched the fabric in the sense that it knew it was having to work a bit harder. I hope that makes sense! It has the “super jean” function of other Toyota machines which means it can cope with “12 layers of Jean fabric” according to the website 😀
Hi Hannah, I'm trying to machine quilt with the embroidery foot so I have control over the design but, I'm having trouble guiding and making the stitching consistent . Any suggestions? Cheers Jen.
Hi Jen! Thank you for your comment. I usually have a play with the speed/stitch length and tension until I find the perfect combo. Sadly it’s a lot of trial and error I find, depending on if I’ve used the fabric before. I also find changing the stitch to one of the last options (one of the straight ones) a quick solution sometimes.
Still going strong! All these years later, admittedly has had less use recently. I made my wedding dress with it last year so it took a hammering then, but still didn’t miss a stitch!
Hannah, I’m a total and utter novice. I have managed to acquire one of these machines. Need a bit of help! I think the plastic bit where the bobbin goes doesn’t look like yours? Help me Obi Wan !!!
Oh blimey!! If you follow me on Facebook (Hannah Alice Marples) or Instagram (@hannahmarples) you could possibly send a picture and I’ll try and help. I suppose as long as there’s a stick which the bobbin slots on, which then slides to one side to disengage the sewing mode then you should be A OK and all systems go 👍🏻

This was so helpful Hannah, thank you!
Aww you’re very welcome! I’m so glad you thought it was ❤️
I love mine! I have the sage colour ...I’m loving your red! ❤️
clareyowen1 that’s so cool!!! Love that colour! What’s your favourite thing to sew on it? Just sewing in general/quilting/embroidery?
Making masks currently lol! Have been trying some merchant and mills clothes and bags..I’m a real novice! I need to try the embroidery feature :-)
I got the petrol colour one and love it - do you know if you need to oil it ? Before I would use foot antique machine after my great grandma

I love mine and it is Red too!! Can you move the needle to the right and left without selecting a stitch type ?
So sorry for the missed reply on this comment! I believe it’s only through selecting stitch type.
How's it holding up so far ?

Does it need to be oiled like other sewing machines?
I’ve not yet had to oil mine it still works quite freely but I do clear the fluff out quite often. They can be serviced as well.
