- Meet the newest additions to our collection : Pseudophasma fulvum nymphs or "Minca"' and discover how we will care for these little guys and set up their tank!
They are found in the wild in Costa Rica & Columbia, and eat privet or plantain. We used an enclosure that has some compost on the bottom (some people use toilet roll) and placed wood in for climbing as they are an arboreal species. We put privet in a little vase of water and made sure the leaves prevented the little guys from getting in the water. I know other keepers also wrap aluminum foil on the top and then stick the privet thru so they can't fall in.
Like most other stick insects, it's important to keep their humidity levels up and so misting in an enclosure that has good air flow (to prevent mold growth) helps! In the summer, we mist daily and reduce to every other day in the winter. But be sure to do what's best for your animals and don't over water!

Like with getting any new pet, be sure to do your research beforehand to make sure you can take the best care of them. When finding a pet, make sure they are coming from a legal and safe source! While I am a wild animal biologist, I still have a lot to learn so do your own research about keeping your own pets! - Животные
Have you ever kept stick insects? If not, would you like too? I've loved learning how to keep them and the Phasmid Study Group is a great resource! 💚

What a lovely video about some lovely little critters. Thanks so much for sharing such an informative and fun video as always :)
When I had my Peruphasma Schultei, I remember picking privet and honeysuckle on my way home from school haha, brings back memories of keeping stick insects myself
Thank you Leo! 🥰
Ahh they are incredible! We used to have some, in fact the husband was considering getting some but instead went for this species (which we haven’t kept before!). I find sometimes it’s quite hard to find privet, I’d love to grow some of our own as it would make the weekly husbandry much easier 😅 would you ever keep them again? 💚🤙
Another great addition to your collection. Love the video!
The collection just seems to keep on growing doesn’t it? 😇😘😅 thank you for watching 💚
Very interesting! This is a cool look into the insect’s habitat. Also, that macro lens is nice 📸
I love the macro lens! It’s so fun to see their faces! Do you keep any insects? 💚🤙
Shelby On Safari Nope I do not but I have a cool little video coming out soon with one I found 🐛

Thank you 😊 do you have any pets, bugs or other species? 💚🤙
@@ShelbyOnSafari We had a pomeranian .. and she stayed with us for 16 years... until 2017. :(
That’s incredible. ☹️many years together 💚
I've been looking forward to the reveal! Brilliant choice, such a great and fascinating species. Still jealous of those macro shots ;)
Haha! I cannot wait to see them mature and have wings 😍 then we will have fun trying to get those macro shots for you 😅
@@ShelbyOnSafari Hope you're ready for all the babies though haha, feel free to send some my way when the time comes 👀👀
Hopefully we will have a mix of adult males and females! And if we do, thank you for offering I will do 😊
Wow that's so amazing!
They’re so tiny aren’t they? Can’t wait for them to get bigger! 💚🤙
Yes but I'm actually like scared to hold them. Idk why^^ maybe because like I have a fear of all insects
That’s okay! I am very ticklish and some of them actually tickle when I am holding them. My mom doesn’t like bugs either and she can’t even watch these videos so you’re brave just to watch! ☺️
Yeah at the beginning I was like no way I can watch it all! Haha But they don't look too bad. I could never hold them tho^^
I have spiny leaf insects and phyllium monteithi insects, I feed them eucalyptus and Lilly pilly and am going to be selling babies when they hatch on gumtree 🥰
Hey KK! Oh that’s so cool! Baby stick insects are so cute 🥰 thanks for watching 💚
Ahh they’re so cute😍 I’d like to get into keeping animals like these guys one day!
You’d love it! They’re so fun to watch 🥰 but they too moult and finding their little exoskeletons is crazy! 💚🤙
Shelby On Safari that’s so cool! I keep finding locust and Dubia moults everywhere now I’m looking for them😂
