These tutorials are really helpful. Unfortunately, Solo is sold out on both the hard tail and t-tail 335 kits, with no information on when they will be back in stock.
Love this series man, came at a great time, as I’m getting a custom 335 kit soon! Also like to see the Railhammers getting more love too, absolutely love mine!!
Ya, I’m not sure what’s going on there. My views are down and subscription rates have cut in half. As long as people can still find the videos when they actually need them I guess that’s the important part.
I love wiring, but I'm a technologist. I hate painting, sanding and buffing. It's a lot of time and work but you accomplished a great guitar. It's a lot easier with twine ( aka string) to get the parts pulled up into the holes. I showed that technique on my firefly rewire video.
Holy moly Brad!! It looks amazing.😍🥰I want one!! You had that on the wall in the background of your vids for for so long and I'm sure you're happy that its all done. I'm stealing the tubing technique if i do that style if you don't mind. Cant wait to see how it sounds. Thanks for a great series bud.
That one is really pretty. I have re-wired many semi-hollow body guitars. I prefer to make harnesses myself though. I can say kite string is much easier to work with for fishing the pots into place. After you have done a few of them it kinda suddenly becomes easy.
Looks great mate its turned out fantastic! God they are a pain to wire up for sure and you can see why lots of old 335s now have holes cut into the back! Great build and well done

Such an awesome burst on this one! Almost unreal. I am more of a chrome than black hardware guy, but the finished result here looks great, and more unique for not picking chrome or gold I suppose. Those Railhammers are going to sound nothing short of awesome. I'm thinking you may want to put a dab of glue under the nut? From the video it looked as if it is unsecured - but maybe you already took care of it off camera? The string tension will hold it down, but it may get knocked out of place if the playing gets a bit heavy handed.
Hey Brad, would love to see a base coat video... like how different shades of primer, or using gold/silver will affect the top layer. Like (for example) I'm thinking of doing candy apple green and wondering light grey primer? gold flake? gold pearl? metallic gold? I don't think I've seen one of those videos yet.
That’s a good idea Thomas. For candy green, I would typically suggest a grey primer and silver base. A gold base will give a different look/hue, but that may of course be what you’re going for. Just make sure the gold is more yellow and not at all orange or you will end up with brown.
Nice job Brad.. about time you finished this one.. one of your better builds and your choices were spot on.. Solo has some nice variety for sure.. cant wait to hear those rail hammers.. which humbuckers were they?.. the standard PAF with a twist?..
Got it. Looked them up and I think I'm going to stay with Seymour Duncan P Rails. I have a supply of different length diameter and shape springs. So its not an issue. Also have a spring compressor for humbuckers. Think I got it from Stew Mac.
Hey Big fan of the channel, just wondering about your spray can tutorial. You never used a sealer as you said it was well sanded and you wanted the grain to show through. I want to get a similar effect but I'm not sure what grit I'd need to sand the body to. Cheers
DUDE I thought I was crazy! The Seymore Duncan springs are hugeeeee. You unscrew it and can never get it back in! I had to cut them down. Glad I'm not the only one who has been annoyed by that!
Is it possible or advisable, for easier fingers access into the body cavity, to leave the neck off for the wiring, then attach it after the wiring and body hardware is assembled?
Wiring a semi acoustic style is not fun. I have done a few myself including one that I now have decided to put an access plate on the back because it has been a total nightmare!!! Nice job though I love the finish.
I’d love to give Solo another shot, but the thinline Tele kit I bought from them was horrible. Tons of flaws, and the neck didn’t sit properly in the pocket. It’s still in my basement, largely disassembled and a reminder that you get what you pay for.
@@BradAngove Apologies if that came across as me trying to get you to solve the issue. I was just pointing out the issues some may have with Solo kits. As for the neck, it's too small for the pocket, leaving a massive gap on one side. I wasn't even able to align the strings to find a relatively sweet spot where it'd still work. Off topic though--or rather, back on topic--great work on that 335. The burst looks absolutely killer.

They’re the “humcutters”. Designed to be more like a p90 in humbucker size I believe.
@@BradAngove the ones you used in the GGBO.. were they the higher output version?
Yes, those were the humbuckers rather than humcutters.
Can't find the pickups on Solo.
You should try solo's wood knobs for your controls. I think they are great. Finish the same as guitar or a contrast.
Those pickups aren’t in solo. They’re railhammer.

I wish that I could assemble the parts on a kit. My biggest "skills" are adjusting a truss rod (only at the head stock) and changing strings.

My old 4 part tutorial? It depends on the wood type but usually 320 or 400.
The body is paulowina, so hopefully it'll work out okay, Thanks very much.
Should work fine. That’s a light wood with a reasonably open grain.
