    Have loved all the videos, I did the big lap back in 1980 and have always wanted to do it again, and by the way, most snorkels aren't waterproof, only the good brands are. cheers

      Thanks Ian I'm sure the lap in the 80's would have been a much more adventurous experience and a lot more quiet than it is now. :) We would do it again in a heartbeat maybe just in a caravan next time.

    Wow 18 months around Australia. That's a long LONG journey. Lucky man you are in Queensland enjoying the free travel. We don't see the lockdown will end in Vic or NSW.

      It is amazing how fast the time goes it feels like only yesterday we left Sydney jan 2020 with no clue what was about to happen to the world. Hopefully we are getting close to a future with less restrictions and we can all get out and explore the country again.

    Thumbs up from me guys👍
    That Cape York trip looked epic.
    Those ‘breakages’ appeared to be a combo of ageing parts and things that would need replacing after a big lap irrespective of vehicle age. Just caught up on the cracked wheel episodes - a bit of a worry on quality. Many of us 4wd owners will swap out the factory wheels as you did - care to name the wheel brand ?
    Cheers

      Thanks again yep looking forward to making the cape york videos it was a epic trip. Most of the breakages were definetly wear and tear excluding as for the rims they were a set of Tempe tyres brand ballistic steel rims. I assume they were just a poor casting as they cracked almost identically very happy with the change to patrol wheels.

    Great vids, keep them coming. Did I miss what are the new tyres?

    • @a.j.overlanding6995
      @a.j.overlanding6995  3 года назад

      Thanks mate the tyres are a sunwide 285/70/17 10ply MT. I figured I would see how some budget mud tyres go now we are not remote. So far so good fingers 🤞

    Good stuff guys! Wondering what size exactly 33'' muddies you put on chief ? as I want to fit 33.3'' AT's on my 120 that has a sagged 2'' lift with 0 offset rims, do you have any rubbing on the front ?

    • @a.j.overlanding6995
      @a.j.overlanding6995  3 года назад

      Thanks mate. The tires are a 287/70/17 on a +10-15 patrol gu4 alloys. My lift is also pretty sagged front and rear. I had to remove the front mudflaps and at full flex and with steering lock they scrub slightly in the guards. I'm sure with allterain tyres and bigger offset you should be fine. Hope that helped

      @@a.j.overlanding6995 Yep, hopefully I can get 295/70/17 AT's under it without needing to spend up too much on other mods. 🍻

    Hey guys could you give me some info on how your Max kept cracking? I was planning on putting one on my vehicle, but I'm concerned that you've gone through three of them now. Do you think the awning being attached added stress to the shell?

    • @a.j.overlanding6995
      @a.j.overlanding6995  2 года назад

      We still don't know 100 percent of the reason we broke so many but suspect the weight of the awning combined with 60,000km of Australia's worst roads and tracks. Took a toll on the tent.

      @@a.j.overlanding6995 Thanks for the quick response. I think I'll do a custom mount for the awning and keep it off the tent. I'll let you know how it goes.
