      Wrong! This man experimented with a political orientation foreign to the people and ruined a once prosperous country..his ideology was misconceived and crippling..he singlehandedly destroyed Jamaica’s economy and forced capital and brain flight..

    To listen to Mr Michael Manley in 2019 and then listen to the current crop of politicians both in Jamaica and abroad it is quite obvious that true intellect, charisma and insight has indeed flown through the door.
    Growing up in the seventies I cannot but remember the harsh days while we struggled for self reliance and pride in the building of our nation and being nurtured by this great man who was often rejected by the so called intellectuals of the day...I look back now in this day and age in awe and total admiration for the honorable Micheal Joshua Manley, the man who gave me the first real shot at a good education and who opened the door of opportunity for so many Jamaicans...rest in peace my friend..

      Mr Lex I do not think he was stubborn, maybe a little overzealous in his quest to enforce and uphold our sovereignty, even to dispel of neocolonialism but not stubborn..
      I had the great opportunity to actually sit and listen to Mr Manley in his latter years and in his time of ill health, we spent many evenings discussing what he termed then as his grave mistakes in believing that he could actually convince his people to become self sufficient without hanging on to the coattails of our more powerful capitalist neighbors ...ironically all my relatives are supporters of the JLP and so am I, needless to say I’m a better man for listening to him...communist.. he was not..proud he was..

    • @buildindian8169
      @buildindian8169 5 лет назад +2

      Mr Lex I understand your point Mr Lex but as a child of the seventies and a student of one of the so called Cuban schools, well educated and skilled in many fields I can assure you that given the time and opportunity to uphold our sovereignty and self reliance, building our social programs and stabilizing our economy through production and skills training we would not now in 2019 be importing unskilled Chinese laborers, some of which I have garnered are convicts, here in Jamaica doing Chaka Chaka work..
      Who would have dreamt that we would become slaves to the Chinese, the very same scenario faced by us in the seventies and eighties when the neocolonialist exerted ultimate control over our resources and in effect attempted to strip us of our self worth such as seen in Haiti..
      As a business owner with properties along the strips now undergoing construction I can speak with full authority in saying that we could have done better and do remember Mr Lex, that I’m a Labourite so my utterances are really not partisan but based purely on my observations of current affairs and deliberate attempts by governments of both sides to undermine our intellect and deceive us...
