It would be great that the Indian Education system introduce West Indian History or indentured or Migration OF Indians from India to Guyana/ West Indies during Colonial Rule . Our Indian heritage can be preserved as well as well as be remembered throughout the world .
@@mahimaahmed9315 During Imperial rules, there were division of people of different religions , dislocation of people being moved from India to Pakistan and other continents of the world. I hold no animosities for the white people ruling except that our ancestors were badly treated .However, we learnt to forgive them so we can heal our souls and evolve , love one another and live in understanding and unity. We can all fix it .The change must starts from us the individuals and top leaders of political and religious orientations and affiliations.
@@VoiAhoyTV TRUE. You can research it on Google ,"Imperial Ruling in India. You will be in for surprises of the brutality and genosidal killings that took place between India and Pakistan during the white colonial rules. The English man responsible for the partition was called LORD LOUIS FRANCIS ALBERT VICTOR MOUNTBATTEN ,THE LAST VICEROY TO INDIA IN 1947. .According to historians, the Indians or Pakistani or other nations in India never knew about borders because they never had maps of their continent until MOUNTBATTEN ordered Cyril Radcliffe to draw up the partitions for Indians and Pakistanis to go to live as all the different sects had to wait to know their locations after the maps were created .So Indian used to be a very good country until the invasion of the British who went to India for its natural resources. Brutal violence of murders took place in massive proportions amongst Pakistan and Indians.According to historian Stanley Wolpert, acknowledged that both Indian / Pakistan political leaders played a role in the chaos in 1947 but the real, contributor for mass killings and divisions was MOUNTBATTEN. As this is all history, we just have to pray and ask GOD for forgiveness on all sides .BLESS ALL THOSE TERRIFIED SOULS WHO WERE MURDERED AND THE BRITISH EMPERORS IN INDIA. L
Many westindians are mixed race with the locals. Many westindians have some black ancestry. This is one of the main reasons why West indians have distinguishing physical appearance.
Very good program and thanks for using the specific term East Indian, in Canada and most other countries where Columbus landed the native are called Indians.....
Good discussion. I am an Indian from SA. My experience is similar in that we cannot relate to the Indians of India. Our religious and social customs are a microcosm of the time our grandparents came from India, and our social interaction with people has a unique 'south african' flavour. It's easier to speak and relate to a South African than an Indian from India. I think the Indians from India have much baggage to offload before they become part of the local diaspora.
The presentation is too shallow. There needs to be a more in-depth look at life of the early arrivals in the various territories. The mass of Indians were dropped in Guyana and Trinidad. Jamaica got a little. The Jamaican Indian minority interacting with Afro_Jamaicans were of different temperament than those in Guyana and Trinidad. For example, one of the panellists mentioned the massacre of Indians in Guyana by Forbes Burnham. Try that among the few Indians in Jamaica and the whole country would be burnt flat. That had to do with the healthy interaction with their Afro countrymen. Guyanese and Trinidadians look at Jamaican Indians as inferior to them because of that healthy inter_racial relation that exist between Indo Jamaican and Afro Jamaican. In Guyana and Trinidad the races separate mainly between Indians and Afro. So many times you hear individuals at U.W.I. complain of the way Guyanese and Trinidadians interact with other people on Campus. Got to run. Will finish this another time.
My experience has been that some men in the Carribean do treat their women badly and in a violent way....the women are not accepting it anymore. after comming to north america.
Kay Nandlall So true, in fact, that even today, 2017, domestic violence is still normalized in these cultures-- normalized and not discussed; similar to how this group of educated panel-members can't recognize how sexist they're all being in this moment towards the one female colleague, no less in a conversation about the progress of the Female in Carib culture, the avg West Indian community won't talk too much about domestic violence as an extension of deeply rooted patriarchy
Kay Nandlall, from your words, am betting that you are a wayward person, and to all you intelligent comics voicing opinions,,forget never ,,at your own peril that ages before Coolies became Americans Vedic me used to cherish and adore their females, and never was there sub servants,,it's properly known as time and place in the evolution of the Vedic race, economics and politics not deducted,, so dear opinions framers, be slow to spread rumours,,Sita and ram was our forefathers or spiritual ancestors,,please slow down as you evolve into the western brainwashed wanderers.Lastly am certain that those in this video intention was never to chastise the lady,, though it seems that way, as with wayward with modern economic and freedoms, what else can be expected?Hhahah, Kay for you my disobedient person,, am sure you are a single mother, sodomite,, or almost white phoney gal.,, what s the colour of your bleached hair dear?
I think he is making sure he has full control of the direction of the topic of conversation. He's doing a great job, actually. Whenever someone's response to his question starts to go in a different direction, he just takes control. The HOST has to be able to do that, being that there is a set amount of time for this show. Otherwise, everyone else will take control and the main purpose of the show will be unsuccessful.
I live in the UK and I must say that Indians that come directly from India has a very derogatory attitude towards Indians descendants in other parts of the world such as Uganda, Kenya, South Africa the and the Caribbean etc

Interesting how the discussion on male-female interaction marginalised the female contributor both in time allowed when speaking and being the sole woman on the panel. Get the basics right.
They talk only about indians to Britisch Guyana, there happens more in the Caribean with the transport of the Britisch indians...please tell the true sadness story of the Girmit time...
The man is missing the point the woman is making. She is not saying all Caribbean men are idiots. Culturally, men from developing countries are more likely to feel a right to dominate. To a lesser degree that also happens in developed countries. In some developing countries, 90% men feel it is fine to beat their wives. Also, the notion that a woman is making a free and informed choice to stay home, raise kids, and balay some roti could be further from the truth than one is willing to accept. Women can internalize their own oppression. How about the saying, "If he nah beat me, he nah love me." To me, the biggest problems with Indo men and their relationship to their wives is it is the man who wears the pants and the abuse of alcohol. Men also feel threatened by the woman's education, her voice in the relationship, and her earning power.
In the caribbean 1845. Around the time of the revolution . We have excellent records of it . The 1st. ship to reach the west indies was the "FATAK RAZAL".
The times "when India did nothing" are far gone . The #NewIndia of 2017 is more than willing & has the wherewithal to protect all Indian peoples around the world .
yash sandhu And now what can of contribution did they do ? Especially those Indians who were invited after the food is ready ? British with there devious tricks know how to assist there dumping to take over others. A kind of fifo/LIFO tactics. Same things happening in America, Canada....... right now . A miticulous strategies to replace blacks with others in jobs place, etc. They seem themselves more intelligent than the mass.
I am fascinated by this immigration from mid 19th thru early 20th century which has changed the demography of so many countries globally. I wish India paid much much more attention to these 'children of India' - maybe as India grows stronger, it will find the time and energy to focus on our brothers and sisters from the diaspora.
I want to ask a question. What happens when you’re made in Black, but those in your family are in white? What happens then? And you’re trying to find yourself, and you’re forced in the pastor teacher position? Because were not supposed to stop halfway?
they are "south asian" not "east indian" that leads to the premise that the people that call themselves "west idian" for whatevr reason have smething to do with the country of India. What do the people in the east indies call themselves??
Yes some of us do have Tamil heritage. The ship route was as follows:- From Calcutta to Madras then on to Mauritius, South africa then the caribbean. The languages has been lost to the vast majority except in Suriname where some still speak hindi. There are now many bal-vikas hindi schools setup for those who wish to learn hindi as a second subject. The only way to tell of anyone's ancestry is by DNA testing to which you will find no participant. No one cares about caste system or ancestry for over 100 yrs. ( one of my grand father carried the title Algu. I guess he was tamil ).
Our Anscestors were from UTAR PRADESH and we speak Hindi and Urdu. They also came from Calcutta, Bangladesh, Bihar . I think @Bisoondath Ramlal has some facts here.
@Bisoondath Ramal and @ Sham Persaud are right to a degree. There were several areas they stopped and where they gathered people as well. Most are from UP, Bihar, and some from Madras and even a small percentage from Afghanistan. Actually, there were 3 ships that came. My family is from Uttar Pradesh and to a lesser degree Delhi and to a lesser degree maybe Nepal and Afghanistan. My grandfather had blue-grey eyes, and I was born with strawberry blond hair that later turned black. My second cousins also have blue eyes and red hair. I did DNA testing and I’m 100% Indian. Sadly, Indians don’t accept us, but the panelists made a good point - we have a richer and broader perspective being Indo-Caribbean. I still think many Indo-carribean men are wonderful husbands in that they are faithful, good providers and good fathers. But there is a lot of sexism that needs to be worked on as well, especially domestic abuse within the family with siblings and towards spouses and children.

First of all Israel does not reach out for its people. Israel's goal is to take over Palestine therefore reaching out to JEWS as a way to convince them to come and help accomplishing the take over of Palestine. Indian does not reach out for Indian in the diaspora when in trouble because India is still a country that is not united in terms of one people, maybe if you guys address the "CASTE" issue/reality/problem that is the epitome of a very fractured India. Dr. Mahin Gosine is very sexist, and outright wrong on many issues and Mala Rampertaap as a journalist seems to hold her ground and is very knowledgeable on many issues in comparison to her male counterparts. The interviewer is brilliant and asked some great questions.
By the way, What is Israel.12 tribe of Jacob, scattered worldwide.Even 80% of Jews mixed inIndia.early vovage to Kerala. The first Christian community, AD 52 St.. Thomas started in Kerala.Same race I am on.How the traditional name used be? The custom follows.
Indians whether you are from North, South, East or West are still South Asian. I just wish that the people in T'dad. my home country would get along and live better with each other. We are all God's children.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
The videos are too short. I studied West Indian History and there are more to learn .Indians still maintain certain aspects of their inherent cultures, religions, custom. There used to be a minority caste system there but no longer accepted or practiced. We are fusing more with African Guyanese and Caribbean. However, there can be political tensions during elections but Indians are hard working, close knitted family oriented, constructive people who are resilient and greatly believe in elevation. I came across with Patels in London who have treated me kindly and they are reserved, quite and decent people.
I try to keep my sofe voice and language from going I remember Pakistan🇵🇰🇵🇰 and God Bless my Car bean and Pacific Brothers ,and sisters🌹🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️💌💌💌💌🏝️🏝️🏝️🏝️🏝️✝️☪️🕉️🛐
Men need to shake off this arrogant chauvinistic attitude towards women especially in certain cultures such as the Caribbean India and Africa. If a woman wants to advance herself she should and have the right to do so. Women are resilient and super when it comes to being diverse and we are natural managers. We can multitask and I don’t see a problem with a woman taking care of a home but also having a career
It’s nice you wanted to make this video... However, you have to focus on the subjects and timeline the events of Indian in the Caribbean appropriately. Goodbye
+CaribNation TV Dr. Mahin Gosine said Isreal helps its people all over the world. That is a good gesture. But India does not come to Guyana's aid when in trouble. You did not mention how Isreal is able to help its people in different countries. India has its own problem. Indira Gandhi supplied Guyana with Tata buses and open her mouth against the West regarding democracy in Guyana. That's why Nixon called her cold blooded animal and later Kissinger apologized to the Indian people. England should have not given independent to any Caribbean nation, including Guyana. Criticizing the white men and continuing to run to their countries of England, Canada & USA.
North America does not belong to the whites they stole it from the First Nations, so we have as much rights to be in a country like U.S.A. and Canada just like any European people.
Vejai Seepersaud That your refs to Kissinger, an autistic lizard who saw the world as a numbers system and instigated the Cold War proxy-conflicts in the Middle East that yet continue to this day, and to Nixon, the dude we IMPEACHED for being paranoid, ruthless, and downright devilish, should justify "British should never have allowed Guyana its independence"... is v weird to me
Every time Mala Rampertaap wants to talk she is immediately interrupted by men. She has so many great and brilliant ideas she cannot finish because all men, every one of them interrupted her. This is really shameful. She is the most brilliant of all and I could not learned anything because she was not able to finish an idea before she was silenced. This is very embarrassing to say the least.
Indian 🇮🇳and Pakistani🇵🇰 don't get along with Caribbean Indians. And most Pakistani don't not like me at all. I kind of like the Caribbean people of the Indian Subcontinent.
I was a little kid I heard my father in a convo with my mother after he returned from a test match at Albion played by the. Indians and Guyana and he said indo guyanese tried to shake the Indian cricketer hands and give them money etc and they look at us with scorn I NEVER FORGET THAT..... THE REASON I DETEST RACISM PEDDLED BY POLITICIANS WE ARE ALL GUYANESE REGARDLESS OF OUR ETHNICITY

I agree that I found Indian from India are not so welcoming towards us from outside of India. Sadly, I hope indian can realise we are the same people but things happen in the past that made our ancestors leave. Further. It does give some scares for the next generation of who are we
I am an Indian born and raised in the Middle East. I lived in India for 20 years and them moved to Canada. I hear and understand what you say. However, we will still look like Indians but, the moment we speak or communicate with Indians, they know you are not from around. Its not them or us its just the way it is. They are welcoming not immediately welcoming, it takes some time... Because, they don't see any common grounds. The moment they do, they will be welcoming. Sometimes, the inferiority complex kicks in as well. This has a major role to play...
Oh no they get rid of our fore parents from the country and I don’t ever feel connected to India in fact I consider myself more ‘civilized’ with a rich cultured than them!!!
There is little Native people living in the Caribbean so there is no reason to Call the people who are descendants from India East Indians. The people do not think of themselves as East Indians but rather Indians. A better term would be better is Asian Indian.
+Dravidian DK1000 Why not say East Indian? They are just making sure that East Indians Are not mistaken for Indians who live in India. It the same as not calling all black people Africans. Its not a bad term.
East Indian is how you define what kind of Indians you are talking about, so people won't get confused between native American Indians and East Indians.
stefhen bryan so, by the same token there is nothing such as Afro caribbeans...they are Africans. Get real, we are all Trinidadians and have equal rights to be their.
Approximately 20% of indo-caribbeans are mixed with other races. The vast majority are still 100 % indians, i.e DNA standard.
You can't tell if someone has African ancestry
Wouldn’t say many. Everybody on that panel looks Indian.
@@AzureKite191 Yes you can, stop it.
Stop the lies.
OMG Mala! Stand your ground!!
Very good program and thanks for using the specific term East Indian, in Canada and most other countries where Columbus landed the native are called Indians.....
They should prolly be called indigenous people. They have no connection to India in any way.
Mala you're very smart women. God bless you.
As a male, I can see the male dominance in this dialogue. The moderator kept interrupting the lady and changed the subject.
@@phillipjames5365 Exactly my thoughts. He was very unprofessional and it’s was extremely evident that he is sexist.
So true
Interesting. If you spend some time in India then maybe you might be able to relate and appreciate the present day customs of India.
I certainly wish to do that. It is our motherland. Jai Shri Ram
A good program thanks.. It would have been much better if the woman was given a chance to speak!!
Yes! Minus that, it was excellent and I really enjoyed it!
Let her talk
From my little observation, generally Indians from India have a derogatory attitude towards other people of Indian heritage. I hope that I am wrong.
Hi. Thank you for this program. My family is from India and I live learning about them
Lovely talk. I am impressed with very logical questions and answers. Really wonderful talk ☘️🙏🏻☘️
My experience has been that some men in the Carribean do treat their women badly and in a violent way....the women are not accepting it anymore. after comming to north america.
So true! Enough is enough!

So true, in fact, that even today, 2017, domestic violence is still normalized in these cultures-- normalized and not discussed; similar to how this group of educated panel-members can't recognize how sexist they're all being in this moment towards the one female colleague, no less in a conversation about the progress of the Female in Carib culture, the avg West Indian community won't talk too much about domestic violence as an extension of deeply rooted patriarchy

The host here does repeatedly cut off the female panelist, deferring to male panelists.
Otherwise, informative and insightful coverage.
Mahin thank you for being the realistic member of this panel. Paul your comment about unfaithful men is the same of unfaithful women.
CaribNation it would of been nice to hear more from the woman's point of view. Interesting video nevertheless.
I live in the UK and I must say that Indians that come directly from India has a very derogatory attitude towards Indians descendants in other parts of the world such as Uganda, Kenya, South Africa the and the Caribbean etc
On the contrary I'd love to meet them🙁

Interesting how the discussion on male-female interaction marginalised the female contributor both in time allowed when speaking and being the sole woman on the panel. Get the basics right.
Host should have a show of his own....very interfering ...it easy very informative n interesting🙏🙏🙏
How about the saying, "If he nah beat me, he nah love me."
To me, the biggest problems with Indo men and their relationship to their wives is it is the man who wears the pants and the abuse of alcohol. Men also feel threatened by the woman's education, her voice in the relationship, and her earning power.
Raj Beekie thats generalizing not all men would beat their wives because its embedded in the culture. its cuz they feel a need to which i dont agree.

And now what can of contribution did they do ? Especially those Indians who were invited after the food is ready ? British with there devious tricks know how to assist there dumping to take over others. A kind of fifo/LIFO tactics. Same things happening in America, Canada....... right now . A miticulous strategies to replace blacks with others in jobs place, etc. They seem themselves more intelligent than the mass.
A very useful discussion
I am fascinated by this immigration from mid 19th thru early 20th century which has changed the demography of so many countries globally. I wish India paid much much more attention to these 'children of India' - maybe as India grows stronger, it will find the time and energy to focus on our brothers and sisters from the diaspora.
I love this show!
Yes WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE to have that Guyanese Caribbean rich culture I never identify with India please
I want to ask a question. What happens when you’re made in Black, but those in your family are in white? What happens then? And you’re trying to find yourself, and you’re forced in the pastor teacher position? Because were not supposed to stop halfway?
This interviewer is something else
they are "south asian" not "east indian" that leads to the premise that the people that call themselves "west idian" for whatevr reason have smething to do with the country of India. What do the people in the east indies call themselves??
So which religion do you follow
mostly hindu and christian with a small percentage of muslims.
do any of you guys in the carribean from Madras ??! can you guys speak Tamil to some extent ? I
Yes some of us do have Tamil heritage.
My grandfather from Trinidad could read and write Sanskrit

Powerful comment about Israel and India.
24:15 that resigned look.
Ah so typical, don't let the woman talk.
Vejai Seepersaud
That your refs to Kissinger, an autistic lizard who saw the world as a numbers system and instigated the Cold War proxy-conflicts in the Middle East that yet continue to this day, and to Nixon, the dude we IMPEACHED for being paranoid, ruthless, and downright devilish, should justify "British should never have allowed Guyana its independence"... is v weird to me

Mala stand ground the Male domant is not allowing you to explain
Every time Mala Rampertaap wants to talk she is immediately interrupted by men. She has so many great and brilliant ideas she cannot finish because all men, every one of them interrupted her. This is really shameful. She is the most brilliant of all and I could not learned anything because she was not able to finish an idea before she was silenced. This is very embarrassing to say the least.

However, we will still look like Indians but, the moment we speak or communicate with Indians, they know you are not from around. Its not them or us its just the way it is. East Indian is how you define what kind of Indians you are talking about, so people won't get confused between native American Indians and East Indians.
