I found my grandfather's family in buxar, Bihar, a few years ago. I had a copy of his indentureship document, showing some information about his village. When I went there the first family I found was them. They said that their grand parents told them that their grandfather had a brother who became a sadhu and went to Nepal but never returned. They did not know he had come to Trinidad.
He is Jamaican by both with Indian heritage so is Jamaican negros whose heritage was West Africa, or Jamaican Chinese & a host of others. Out of many one people.

that's one thing with Jamaica you will see a Chinese guy or a Lebanese speaking with the deepest Jamaican Patois accent and nobody blinks an eye cus we are all Jamaican
After living for many years in the Caribbean this is probably the first time I heard of East Indians in Jamaica. You don’t see East Indians on the Jamaica cricket team or in top govt positions or on TV. Unbelievable!
It’s so true. East Indians were kept in the lowest rung in society. Manley, Burnham and Eric Williams are great parts of the conspiracy to eliminate East Indians from the Caribbean.
Mr Ragbeif would have been amongst the last of his generation or on the tail end of India's migratory journey to Jamaica. Not to be to offensive to Mr. Ragbeif, the vast majority of Jamaican Indians/Indian Jamaicans globally today have no interest regarding Asian religions or customs especially those who are descendants of early indentured workers from 1845 +...Christianity, Catholics being the choice of the majority of J.A. Indians...I'll also make another point in that Jamaica is NOT Trinidad or Guyana where in those countries many Indians have keep hold of their religion, customs, cuisine & some still dress & kept hold of certain dialects & language. Not saying Indian Jamaicans do not celebrate certain celebrations for e.g. Indian arrival day etc because they do, only a very small minority of J.A. Indians continue to keep certain customs & play Indian folk music etc...
When they arrived in Jamaica they had only one name. Such was my great grandfather. He came with his young kids and the British require a last name so they used the father one name as the kids last name. Many people died on their way there and the British captain would log 'one soul died today'

Trinidad and Guyana got all the Indians. Finding Indians and Chinese in Jamaica is like finding a needle in a haystack. But you'll see black people all over the place.
