- Gronk has officially(?) retired, so here is 5 minutes of the most dominant tight end ever to play being absolutely impossible to tackle. Watch all of Rob Gronkowski's best career highlights and moments, with both the Patriots and Buccaneers, as a tribute to one of the best in NFL History!
His hands and balance are unusual for a man that big. Truly one of the greater athletes of this generation.
Also the straight line speed, particularly once he got moving.
10 3/4" hands! And with good eye-hand coordination! Anything close,.. he pulled it in!
He was such a nightmare to deal with
No Defensive Coordinator ever came up with a good scheme to diffuse Gronk in his prime. He was indefensible - the most dominant TE the game has seen. Great hands, speed, size as a receiver and an excellent blocker. Great personality too - players like Gronk definitely help the NFL’s popularity.
I think the only schemes that ever worked were the "Maybe we have Kam Chancellor or Bernard Pollard to try to kill him?" type of scheme. I'm not saying they were intentional, I'm just saying the only way they ever stopped Gronk was by knocking him out of the game.
because the personnel they had available couldnt match up with him. if you put a cornerback to stop the pass, they just run the ball behind him. if you put a lineman that can block, he sheds the blocker, the linemen next to him pulls the block, and gronk goes downfield for a passing route. its an absolute nightmare matchup, because in all honesty he was large enough and strong enough to just block the linemen. he had zero bad matchups and dante scarnecchia teaching him blocking techniques, alltime great linemen coach for 60+ years.
His greatest attribute, maybe overlooked, was his ability to adjust to the ball inflight. I can't remember a tight end better in that regard.
Put a corner on him, way too small and can easily overpower. Put a linebacker on him, he’s too fast for them. Safety? Too small too. Just completely over the top good
HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LOVE WATCHING THE GRONK...WHAT AN INSPIRATION
Gronks hands and blocking ability is the best of all tight ends in the game bar none. His speed in his younger days for his size was incredible . I am a pats fan living in New England for 72 years so I do have a clue to his greatness. Thank you very much.
When I was a kid I loved the patriots cause Tom and gronk they definitely are the best to ever do it
He paid the price to be great. Like Sharpe said “he wasn’t the shiftiest guy out there” so he laid it on the line every play for his team and he is one of the best winners of all time. And most fierce competitors. An honor to watch him dominate.
It truly was amazing to watch him to play throwing grown men around like there children and catching passes like randy moss dudes on of the best offensive players ever
He was pretty shifty relative to his size lol tight ends aren’t know for being shifty, they’re power houses and gronk was exactly that, being shifty is what RB’s are for
He was a better athlete than Shannon Sharpe, before he got injured he was very athletic for his size
Boy I really gets a kick watching GRONK. Knocking people out of his way. GRONK was unstoppable. The best tight end of all times. Plus GRONK was funny to.
Seeing a man that’s 6 foot 6 catch a ball on the run at the shoestrings was amazing but that was just one of the things that made him great. The stats will miss his grade A blocking ability and it’s why in time people will mistake someone else at the position as the greatest bit for those who watched all the games or review all the film it’s undeniable that Gronk was the Best TE to ever live and maybe a top 10 receiver of all time at any position. No doubt he will be in the hall of fame soon. So glad we got to see him play again with Tampa bay. If he was able to stay healthy it would have been a gift too fans. Too often the greatest athletes have their careers cut short due to injuries. Bo Jackson was another who was the greatest at his position but the numbers will never tell the story.
The most complete package you will ever see from any player at their position. He was a pro bowl type offensive lineman blocking. Best hands ever. Most highlight reel worthy TE ever. I never watched Kelce drag men down the field. Took 3 men or a low dirty hit to take him out first 5-6 years
Kelce probably wouldn't have the stats if DBs took his knees out every game cuz he just NOT Gronk Strong!! DBs just don't tackle Kelce hard enuff like Jack Tatum would !!
@@arbyarby3259 FACTS!
@@arbyarby3259yea everytime i watch kelce is like "y do they wanna hug him? I mean go for his knees damit!"
Reason Kelce has stats is cuz defenses won't go fir his knees
Even in his last years in Tampa he was slow but was always open somehow and caught any ball thrown his way. He also blocked like no other TD. TOTAL PACKAGE!
Gronk is a great example of an athlete valuing love for his sport as well as the friendships he's built over that time more than money. This will endear you to fans a lot more as well.
Truth be spoken. Rob Gronkowski is not only the greatest TE in the history f football a case can be made he's the most dominating player at his position to ever play professional football.
Without a doubt
There is Roberto Gronkowski and then there is everyone else ! Most complete most talented most feared biggest mismatch talent in NFL history at tight end when he was Prime healthy Rob.
I like the story of how the Patriots traded him before he retired or left. The new team called him to tell him he was traded and he said, "No, I can't be traded. I retired." That's how he was open to join Brady in Tampa.
What are you talking about? They were talking about trading him before the '18 season but after talking to him and finding out he was all in and wanted to stay with Brady they kept him, then he semi retired in '19 while Brady was still on the Pats and they traded him to Tampa the next year
You do know that when he retired he still had one year left on his deal, so if he came out of retirement the Pats still had his rights, a player can't retire then make a comeback and sign with another team if they were still under contract when they retired
He didnt wanna go to the lions so he said he was gonna retire
Shows how lame Coach Bill is also; he pushed out both stars. Then Brady to Gronk scored the first two touchdowns in the very next Super Bowl, enough to win the whole game. @@alexdelgadillo4860
@@Jfen79what i heard is that he retired when he found out pats were trading him to the lions
He rather be retired than playing for another QB thats not Brady.
So he became active again and the pats still have him so he asked to be traded to Tampa to play with Brady.
Dbs were literally afraid to tackle him lol the goat of tight ends.
The Prime Gronk is ultimate
If there was a factory to make the best tight end, this guy was it...Big, powerful, and talented
Kittle is the closest thing we’ve seen to Gronk. Not as massive or strong but still shakes defenders easily and is probably a lot more athletic in terms of speed and agility.
Great blocker too which is one of the reasons we don’t get to see him used as an offensive weapon as much as he should
Just when we thought Graham was the best we had ever seen, along came GRONK.
He was way more physical and could block real well
I’ve never heard anybody ever say graham has/was/or even considered to be the greatest tight end of all time.
He was barely considered a top 2 TE in the league next to Gronk at his very best and dude fizzled out after like five seasons in the league
Never considered graham the best at any point in his career.
@@jdls12 There were people in the early 2010s saying that Jimmy Graham was a better TE. Boy were they wrong!
He was amazing to watch play. Such a good career
Nice tribute man. Gronk was one of a kind.
It’s like one d-back said. Gronk was Tom’s get out of jail free card. Just a massive beast. Once in a generation type player
One of my favorite player.
When you watch Gronk you realize that’s a man who loves what he’s doing!
Gronk's hands always amazed me...Just MASSIVE....just some absolutely giant mitts, but yet so soft...The football looked like a little pea in his hands because they were so big. But, they were like glue as he caught everything thrown even remotely near him. What an absolute joy to watch play football.
Definitely the best of his era . Plus he was fun to watch
You have to Love Gronk
Definitely the GOAT 🐐!!!
wow nice edit man, very effective stuff. pulls at the heartstrings. very tastefully done
Nooo don't leave us yet Rob! Who will sit with Tom by the kiddie pool in the lawn chairs at One Buc answering silly questions? Not to mention catch our 3rd down conversions and red zone tds?? I'm devastated how could you leave Tom hanging like that after he came back? Give us one more Gronk please!
We sure miss him up here.
everyone needs a Gronk in their life.
Human cheat code. The best qb and best TE of all time on the same team.
Rob Gronkowskii along with Tom Brady are two par excellent that probably won't come along for quite some time.
Dude is the definition of beast mode
Living here in New England it was awesome watching the Patriots last 20 years
As a 44 yr old lifetime Patriots fan ( Massachusetts resident).
The Patriots could lose every game for the rest of my life and I'd still Love the Pats!!!
His running style looks so awkward but it works. Goat
There’s no Tom Brady 7 Superbowls without the greatest TE of all time helping him to over half of those.
I feel like a old man being able to watch him his whole career and now he’s retired
:47 That’s what we call the Gronk heavy shoe!!
That catch against Denver was epic. This game itself was epic
What a catch radius on that dude!
Without question the greatest TE of all time.
I’m glad he came to the bucs for a couple years!
So glad he was able to come back and join Tom for one last hurrah!
No one ever shows it , but he was also a great blocker
They do, there r also clips on him blocking, he could throw away big dudes
Great tribute, gronk was him
*BEAST*
6ft7 Slavic beast, nobody touched him at his best, made everyone look small and average on field period
Gronk is TE in NFL like Shaq is C in NBA. We all wished they had longer primes.
Gronk bad to the bone!
What a beast
Well done!! Thank you.
I love kelce but you heard it from one of TE 🐐himself uncle Shannon said Gronk the most dominant unstoppable TE ever in his prime 🦍🦍🦍💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💯💯💯
wtfff?? this is exactly like baby gronk when he rizzed up livy dunn!!!
i know right
The white Hulk!
Well have your retirement Gronk thank you 😊
Amazing American man.
There was a play against the Packers in 2014 that people always forget about for some reason, he trucked and spun around like 3 dudes and nearly got into the enzone.
Gronk Smash!
Man that catch and tackle slip vs the redskins was amazing. Imagine if he had been able to somehow regain his balance 🤯
Best tight end that’s ever been…
What an embarrassment of riches we had up here in NE. Gronk was just one part of such a monster.
I miss the good ol days of Brady and Gronk
Big dope.
How do you tackle a tank ?
Now Josh Allen is the QB version lol
God I miss the Brady/Gronk(and Belichick) days. Now we just plain suck again.
Best eva
😂😂
Gronk was a freight train.
I give him credit, he absolutely killed my Jets
Him and Thurman Thomas.
As a kid his favorite game must have been "whack a mole" for the first seen shows him in that mode.
Ya cuando estas en el campo es una guerra el tamaño no es todo pero si ayuda Gronk era muy grande
Nah gronk Fr give Brady a few more rings than he should we all know
Brady in turn, helped Gronk with a couple rings as well. The NFL is a team sport.
Is it a requirement for RUclipsrs to drown out the dialogue with "background" music?
Watching these clips I noticed that these "professional" football players aren't wrapping him up in their poor attempts at a tackle. Granted it probably wouldn't have helped, there best chance of stopping him would have been forcing him out of bounds.
P.S. did I seriously see him hop on one foot for 5 whole yards?
Travis kelce has nothing on gronk, gronk is the goat of TE hands down
Are you going to show the clip of earl thomas flattening him? I’ll bet NOT.
I wish he would do one more year I think this team has it again go bucs
Greatest of all time. Others can catch and run as fast or as good or better, but he could block, and he could block good. Not just a chip and roll out. But block DE and linemen all day. So, as an overall TE, the greatest, but as just receiving TE, others might be better.
Gronk was fun too watch and i liked his game but Gronk played in an era where you couldnt intimidate receivers and go up side their heads . Dont get me wrong he is probably top 3 on my list as a top TE but i would have loved to see if he would have faired well against players that could unload on him any kind of way . I mean the last few yrs of Gronks carrer he was hurt a lot with this soft NFL could he have taken players that was going up side his head and facemasks in the chest ? Either way he was a bad man and a 1st ballot hall of famer with no question .
6'6" 270lb reciever
The Bucs just aren't the same without him.
He got past 6 Colts defenders LOL
TE
To man cuts, just show the damn plays ffs
It,s shameful To see Gronk retire for the Patriots And bucs Without him the buccaneers Have players 😢
Me know that not real football
As goofy as he can come across I heard he hasn't spent a dime of his NFL money yet.
Gronk being impossible to get tackled. Shows highlights of him being tackled 🤣🤣
On the first contact. No.
The league was made more boring after he left
Best TE ever. No one had the whole package like Gronk! He wasn't just a glorified receiver, the man was a O Lineman when it came to blocking too.
As much as I despise the Patriots, I always enjoyed watching Gronk. Greatest TE ever.
Yup you are right I'm the same way.he is fun to watch
not the greatest TE ever.....he's good but might not even hit the
top 5.
@@crazyharmless666 If you’re not trolling, then I’m questioning your football IQ. Tony G is the only TE all time I would put over Gronk, if Gronk isn’t the greatest. Maybe Travis Kelce once his career is over. But to say Gronk isn’t a top 5 TE all time is laughable.
@@DeSeanBigBlueNation there are about 7 other TE that have similar or better stats than gronk and they didn't have tom brady(the greatest quarterback ever) glued to them their entire career. The best argument for gronk is his blocking stats on runs and passes. which not every tight end does sadly.
@@crazyharmless666 do those 7 TEs have as many records as Gronk? Gronk still holds the NFL record for receiving TDs by a TE in a single season. Gronk has the most seasons with 10+ TDs by a TE. Gronk has the most 100 yard games by a TE in NFL history. Gronk has the most receptions and receiving yards by a TE in super bowl history. If people want to put Tony G ahead of Gronk, I don’t agree but that’s fine. I would even consider Travis Kelce over Gronk. Nobody else tho, to say he isn’t a top 5 TE all time is ludicrous.
The perfect tight end catching passes from the perfect quarterback. No wonder the Patriots won all those Super Bowls! The Bucs as well!
Wrong! Gronk was active for only 4 of the Patriots Super Bowl appearances and lost in 2011 and 2017. He won 2014 and 2018. Gronk was not there for the miracle 3-28 comeback in the 2016 win. Brady was and is great with and without Gronk.
@@vipahman Right?! Brady has chapters. The early 3. The Moss-Welker years. Then Gronk and Jules. And now Evans and Godwin (and for a while Gronk!). Still the best TE ever and Brady might only have 6 rings without him, but he's Brady's favourite weapon, not his first, last, or only
@@vipahmanGronk also had amazing stats during those two super bowls with the patriots with over 170-180 yards 15 catches and 2 touchdowns. He also won a Super Bowl with Brady again with the bucs, for 6 catches 67 yards and two touchdowns. I think the point is that Brady and Gronk are a dynamic duo.
@@vipahman2018*. And they would’ve won that 2018 sb if he did play sadly.
@@vipahmanI mean, you can definitely thank him for keeping the team in it till the very end in LII though. That one was lost to poor defense, not offense.
Happy Retirement Rob Gronkowski!!! Thank you for what you did in New England and Tampa Bay!!! Enjoy your Retirement Rob Gronkowski!!! Let's go Patriots and Let's go Buccaneers!!! Do your job New England Patriots and siege the day!!! Thank you Rob Gronkowski!!! We'll miss you #87!!!
he had the largest catch radius ive ever seen. could catch it bent over by his shoelaces mid stride, while also able to leap up and grab the ball one handed, back shoulder, spinning to see the ball at the last second. way up in the air. he averaged 25 yards per catch. just absolutely insane.
rob gronkowski is what I thought American Football is when I first started to watch, I'm not from america so...
The Gronk is definitely in the conversation if not the best tight end blocking and catching the ball that the NFL has seen he is absolutely a beast I'm not a New England fan at all I've been a Dolphin fan since 1971 but the the Gronk is the best in my opinion to play the game and it seems like a fun dude
One can only imagine what Gronk could have accomplished without his injuries
Love this man, I miss watching Gronk dominate very much and this brought some great memories back
I know being a Pats fan I’m biased, but who was a better tight end? Nobody else comes to mind. Toughest guy on the field!
I never get tired of him playing! Gronk and Tom are just magic together ! ❤️
Best tight end ever , nobody else comes close!
