Same here I love the Ashland cam I have been viewing other virtual Railfan cams lately I have been watching the Fort Madison cam for a while now I have 2 computers some times have 2 streams going at once I like the Ashland one I love hearing the horns I dont like it that Ashland its a no train horn zone.
Engineer, based out of queensgate yard in cinti., ohio, but i live in kentucky, freight routes i ran were to corbin, louisville, indianapolis, lima, willard , and walbridge, russell, ashland, huntington, columbus, amtrak routes were on the amtrak cardinal , between cinti., oh. And indianapolis, and between cinti. Oh. And huntington, wv.
Mute Man: "I didn't see it coming!" Blind Man: "I didn't hear it coming!" Deaf Man: "..." Train Man: "Mute... Blind... Deaf... uh... are you sure that's what you three are?" Their Three Wives: "They legally changed their name for a dumb joke."
CSX crew: "Bill, the horns stuck again and we are entering Ashland" "Thats fine, Virtual Railfan" has 2 cameras there, they'll get a nice horn show" *conductor trying to fix the problem* "Wait, thats the camera right there, ahhhh shoot, they got my backside"
I've had that happen with my car's horn in downtown traffic. Now *that* was embarrassing. Took me ten minutes parked on the side of the road to find the horn fuse.
There probably were a ton of complaints about how the driver was leaning on the horn for no reason. I've seen this happen with cars a few times too though.
Where I once worked we had an old pickup truck that occasionally decided of its own accord to honk its horn. One of the guys I worked with was a bit of a nut and when the horn decided to go he would just act enraged at whoever was in front of us.
Wow he was in the engine that was a serious case... he was maybe trying to turn off the air compressor so no more air would get to the horn so that would shut off the horn.
That was pretty funny. I spotted the co-pilot(co-engineer) working in the engine bay trying to stop that continuous horn blast before you showed it to me again. In case a situation like this happens (again), bring earmuffs with you. Maybe use the same type of headphones that plane & helicopter pilots use.
Those people that don’t now any thing about trains standing at the side of the track were like I’m listening too music can be you be Quiet can’t you stop
we have a parade ever year, not a train parade but a regular one with floats and whatever and withn it there are quite a number of semi trucks used with their trailers ands one time, a semi trucks Horn got stuck and the driver couldnt stop it so he went down the Whole parade route with those air horns just blaring away and with how slow those trucks have to travel down the route, I felt really sorry for the people who were on the trucks trailer that had to endure the whole thing........
we have a parade every year, with trucks that pull trailers that people use to design for the parade and while they go down the parade route, the truck drivers like to sound off the trucks horn(s) at certain points, but one time the driver sounded it, and it actually got stuck just like the one on the train here, I guess there was nothing the truck driver could do, so here was this truck going down at least the 5 mile parade route, his horn just Blaring away the whole time, bet it wasnt very much fun for all of the people who were on the truck's trailer having to listen to that the whole way down the parade route, most nerve racking thing Ive heard in quite a long time....and those horns are LOUD...lol
daylan phelps it has bad wiring being a Solenoid valve and that the electric flow to the magnets could have been constantly moving even though they released the lever
Uday Pullela because that was a needed route and they don’t want to spend millions or billions of dollars moving it like me. And the city likes the trains
Gordon: "No respectable engine ever whistles (honks in this case) loudly at stations. (or crossings or towns) It isn't wrong, but we just don't do it."
It's always Ashland's live feed that has something going on and I'm loving it.
railfanallen it's true, Ashland almost always has something wierd going on
railfanallen yup
railfanallen It's where all the action is.
Well at least he doesn't have to worry about blowing the horn at every crossing.
Poor guy was trying to crawl into the engine to get away from the noise.
R J
Looking for the horn cutout.
The engine would be even louder
There is an air valve behind the engineers panel , where the horn sound can be increased or decreased, from a retired csx and amtrak engineer.
@Steve Logan you really used to work for Amtrak & CSX? What were you?
Engineer, based out of queensgate yard in cinti., ohio, but i live in kentucky, freight routes i ran were to corbin, louisville, indianapolis, lima, willard , and walbridge, russell, ashland, huntington, columbus, amtrak routes were on the amtrak cardinal , between cinti., oh. Steve Logan that’s amazing.
JDzOnline it was along career
JDzOnline if you have any questions that you might want answered, i can probably answer
Well, nobody can say they didn't hear the train coming.
unless your an 80 year old man who can't hear.
Mute Man: "I didn't see it coming!"
Blind Man: "I didn't hear it coming!"
Deaf Man: "..."
Train Man: "Mute... Blind... Deaf... uh... are you sure that's what you three are?"
Their Three Wives: "They legally changed their name for a dumb joke."
Yep, better that than no horn at all!
Happened to a CN eastbound in Mishawaka, IN winter of 2019. CN 2165s K3LA blared and could be heard for miles.
Railbuffs probably loved it. I'll bet it was music to ears.
Henry: It isn't wrong, but we just don't do it!
Sir Topham Hatt: TAKE HIM AWAY!!! AND STOP THAT NOISE!!!
Haha! Serves them right for making it a quiet zone!
I have heard about this happening, but unfortunately didn't get to see on live camera.
Well, you can't physically see noise.... can you?
I'm imagining Homer Simpson forgetting to let go of the lever haha.
Just playing with a little slot car track he built in the cab
Doh!!
No, its peter griffin that's doing it.
Some say, he's still honking that horn non stop through every town he goes through.
You know the warranty just expired too!
“It isn’t wrong, but we just don’t do it!”
CSX crew:

"Wait, thats the camera right there, ahhhh shoot, they got my backside"
I would have been so embarrassed to have that happen to me and I would try to fix it. Man I don’t want to imagine that
I've had that happen with my car's horn in downtown traffic. Now *that* was embarrassing. Took me ten minutes parked on the side of the road to find the horn fuse.
Happened to me with my old car. Horn barely worked right. When it did, 9 times out of 10 it stuck.
Especially through a quiet zone
Next minute, Karen is raging in the ear of the CSX Public Relations rep about a train blowing its horn all the way through Ashland VA
There probably were a ton of complaints about how the driver was leaning on the horn for no reason. I've seen this happen with cars a few times too though.
Almost certainly at least one local resident complained.
Couldn't he go into the fuses and disable the horn?
So much for Ashland's quiet zone
I would be impressed if this train came through Winfield Alabama with its horn still blowing
Have u tried turning it off and on again
That just happened a few weeks ago where I live on the Harrisburg east sub. Between Harrisburg and philly. But it was 11 at night!
"It isn't wrong...but we just don't do it." Then he told Edward what Gordon had said.
A ship in duluth mn did that it was the queen paul r tregurtha largest ship on the Great lakes
Where I once worked we had an old pickup truck that occasionally decided of its own accord to honk its horn. One of the guys I worked with was a bit of a nut and when the horn decided to go he would just act enraged at whoever was in front of us.
"It Isn't wrong"
chuckled Henry
*But We Just Don't Do It*
Gotta throw the whole thing out
A stuck train horn is the least of the problems for Ashland and the train/tracks.
I would expect that from a U30C or a Dash 8-40C, but an ES44AH? You have to be kidding me, GE Transportation.
Trans-Galactic Express GE At it’s finest
More proof that EMD is better
I don't give a toot.
How does that even happen?
Wow he was in the engine that was a serious case... he was maybe trying to turn off the air compressor so no more air would get to the horn so that would shut off the horn.

I don't think the people of Ashland cared. It's the government that wanted the quiet zone. Lol!
That's a major ooops! Have to get Kathy (COTU) to take that up with the town counsel at the next meeting! LOL :)
Does anyone know what those containers are on the first few cars?
Ash from Pepco power plant
Those people that don’t now any thing about trains standing at the side of the track were like I’m listening too music can be you be Quiet can’t you stop
What else would he be doing.....
Trying to find his wallet
XD!
Checking oil or fuel.
I don't see why.
Automcanic finding the cutoff
Cover your ears! I have earbuds in! IT JUST MAKES IT LOUDER!!!
Now that’s a screamer!
we have a parade ever year, not a train parade but a regular one with floats and whatever and withn it there are quite a number of semi trucks used with their trailers ands one time, a semi trucks Horn got stuck and the driver couldnt stop it so he went down the Whole parade route with those air horns just blaring away and with how slow those trucks have to travel down the route, I felt really sorry for the people who were on the trucks trailer that had to endure the whole thing........
At least it wasn't in the middle of the night.
Hey, John, wake up! You fell asleep holding the horn on!
Why? Let me guess, it's a fine..
we have a parade every year, with trucks that pull trailers that people use to design for the parade and while they go down the parade route, the truck drivers like to sound off the trucks horn(s) at certain points, but one time the driver sounded it, and it actually got stuck just like the one on the train here, I guess there was nothing the truck driver could do, so here was this truck going down at least the 5 mile parade route, his horn just Blaring away the whole time, bet it wasnt very much fun for all of the people who were on the truck's trailer having to listen to that the whole way down the parade route, most nerve racking thing Ive heard in quite a long time....and those horns are LOUD...lol
"Quiet zone"
CSX 752: That sign won't stop me because I can't read!
And what is the problem? According the many train videos, American people love to hear a train horn and hates quiet / no horn zones.
Quite the horn show
This happens to transport trucks & highway motorcoach buses too.
I never seen a train horn get stuck like that
How could that ever happen?
Good! That's what all quiet zones deserve!
Is that what a train alarm sounds like when someone's trying to break in?
yep totally!1!1
The Lever That turns on the horn could be stuck on HORN ON
daylan phelps it has bad wiring being a Solenoid valve and that the electric flow to the magnets could have been constantly moving even though they released the lever
Oh my god. I’ve seen videos about this.
That guy was like 'hmmm. what in here?'
Okay that sounds werid

Does "stuck" mean it simply refuses to turn off?
Thomas Palmer maybe so
Even if the engineer is not activating it?
No it means it's stuck pressed down
AlongCameDalton but that is clearly not right because Ashland is a no horn zone.
It was at that moment the engineer knew.... he oofed up
Precision railroading
i've only had to deal with a blaring train horn in my ear for an extended period of time twice in my life
Why have a train running through designated quiet zone?
Uday Pullela because that was a needed route and they don’t want to spend millions or billions of dollars moving it like me. And the city likes the trains
... and we like the Ashland videos!
Well that actually fits right in, along with the people that drive on the tracks all the time... 😕😕😉
This occurs rarely
of corse the horn got stuck... its CSX
They could’ve just closed the valve in the Control stand lol
Very long train & nice video
At least it was a good sounding horn
Bad wiring maybe
Some valve probably got knocked loose and opened fully
Yup
Defective Nathan m3 horn
Daniel French The horn is actually a Nathan Airchime K5HL
Daniel French A Nathan M3 would have been amazing!
Uh oh
Wow
This Happened With A Norfolk Southern That Passed By My House
*DAYUM CSX.*
What the What just happened ?
It seems that the horn didn’t turn off so the conductor went to the engine to solve the problem...
Oh yes
At least it’s a k5hl
Knew someone was desperately trying to find a way to fix it lol
ohh no the quiet zone well im preying for that crew
Every train should behave like that. :))
They behave like that we'd have less people mis judging the train.
i like the horn but very weird for that to happen and the train worker tried to fix the train horn and i hope he got it fixed
Naythan Wallace if not, he was coming up on Acca yard in 14 miles
And someone would still get hit by that train...
0:27 RIP HEADPHONES USERS
Good. I bet, not one car pulled in front of the train. 4 minutes of the horn.🤣
CSX 752 is Sick by having a stuck horn
Ashland really needs the horn stuck.
That didn’t hurt my ears
He is defently fixing it
i feel bad for the guy outside
of course its Ashland
Well I hope the guy trying to fix it was wearing ear plugs
Gordon: "No respectable engine ever whistles (honks in this case) loudly at stations. (or crossings or towns) It isn't wrong, but we just don't do it."
Everything breaks in Ashland. Home of the worlds worst drivers.
THIS QUIET ZONE OFFENDS SLAANESH
All he could’ve done was to drop the circuit breaker for the horn.
D A Sheffield CAN'T, IT'S ON THE OTHER TRAIN.
D A Sheffield if it's an air valve stuck open that won't do anything
It isn’t wrong but we just don’t do it.
Well, I guess it's safe to say that it isn't wrong, but we just don't do it. Sorry no-horn zones, it's nothing personal.
(Yes, it's a joke)
Trains coming to a crossing in Mexico be like
I’m autistic so Sound even loud ones make me laugh 😂 not sure they should fix the horn on the move.
Many people will not understand why it would make you laugh. Could you explain more? I just want to make sure people don't misunderstand you. :)
