Colorado Springs Utilities condemns recent water rights purchase by Aurora

A decision by the City of Aurora to buy more water from the Arkansas River Basin is growing into a larger dispute over water rights. The Colorado Springs Utilities Board is worried this purchase could permanently remove water from the basin, which is already in short supply.

This is why we need to make sure the city doesn't annex that huge plot in fountain/security, when they do CSU will be required by law to provide this new development with water. This takes from current COS residents and lines developers pockets. They need to annex east of powers first, those folks are getting screwed for utilities being just outside city limits, even though it's the middle of town now. Those houses were built 45yrs ago.
