Tragic as it is, this is actually a good ending all together. As a god she pushes humans to evolution, she is not a hateful or destructive god, despite her themes being so and demanding of her to cause enough suffering for a while to create that evolution. She kills you out of mercy. Well, it's only canon for poor Cahara though xd the others made it out. Ragv killed everything in his path xd

Cahara saw worse and shows little reaction. D'Arce is disgusted. Ragnvaldr starts screaming in norse and attacks it. Enki opens a book and reads a few words befor turning back to the new god and say "Bruh, is that what I came here for?"

I think there’s something extra horrific about seeing the skin grow over her smile, knowing it is the last expression she will ever make and that her humanity goes with it

He's seen enough crap in there to last a lifetime and knows by now that when horrible things appear to be brewing, they usually are. So when he looked at the girl and felt something was off, he felt a nauseating sensation come over him and just went with the flow. Expectations carried through and the God of Fear and Hunger was born.

I had the fortune to play it blind, and a part of me thought that whatever ending the girl was involved with, could be fighting something and her unlocking some divine power to defeat it... I knew it was probably dumb, but I had hope we could escape together and make that poor soul happy... seeing her twist and turn into that monstrosity was a heavy blow ;_;
I was playing as the Mercenary and i would bring the little girl everywhere even to all my playthroughs and reaching the part where she turns into the god of fear and hunger, all i felt was pain and fear as i see her transform into it, i didnt want to hurt her i even tried to talk to it and nothing worked, i tried everything just for me to meet thesame outcome everytime

Despite the horror and sadness of The Girl transforming into the God of Fear and Hunger, it is oddly intriguing. It is disgusting and horrific, yet oddly beautiful in the way it shows the suffering of not only herself, but the party as they are left helpless to do anything but struggle for their lives. It is hard to put into words how well you animated everything, down to the slight emotions of the characters

It just so happens, the God of Fear and Hunger was exactly that as a child; a human who frighteningly experienced that fear and hunger in the dungeons. There is no better vessel. Her final transformation into a faceless idol solidified that, while All-mer was a perfect godly being humanity strived to be, The God of Fear and Hunger resonated with humanity because she is a representation of their plight. She comforts humanity in showing them that they are not alone and must struggle. She is a relatable God, a figure of struggle.

Something pretty niche that i absolutely love about this is the lighting while cahara is holding the torch, the way that the light eminates from below after his torch arm is dismembered implying that it fell to the ground invoked a wierdly primal feeling. Just picture yourself exploring a dungeon and suddenly your light source is on the ground and... t-thats your fucking arm still holding it. You would be naturally drawn to the only source of light and have to scramble out of the shock of your missing arm to try and survive the creature that took it from you.
I agree with you; the look on Cahara's face is... difficult to describe, but perfectly encapsulates how one would feel. Sheer shock, horror, dread and hopelessness as you clutch your arm in the dark as something monstrous advances on you..
What i like the most about the game is that it lets you do horrendous things, it virtually never refuses your choice and NEVER judges you in any shape or form, which subjectively makes it that much more difficult moraly, since you are the only one who can condemn yourself for the sins you've commited. For example: no one slurs you for torturing your teammate, even he himself is not shown to be doing that, even his pain is shown flatly, but that makes it that much more terrifieng, since the only scream of agony there is yours.
watching The Girl transform in an animation really is a whole another experience than watching it in game. I truly did feel the horror fear and sensation of vomiting watching her figure contort and change. Bravo just bravo.
I loved how honestly in-depth this was! For an animation trying to explore most of the story in a short time, it didn't come off as surface-level or anything. And I liked the initial shock on the girl's face. Too many people are like "Ugh she betrays you" when it really seemed more like she didn't have a choice in ascending to godhood. It happened TO her and it changed her. So having her express that shock when she drops the doll was a good touch
I agree. It never shows her as hateful but instead shows her as shivering and in agony. When she ascends it transforms her into something she did not originally wish to be, but she is still merciful, giving you a swift death although partially accidentally crushing you with the power of her acknowledgement of your suffering
She did not ascend. She merged with the god of the abyss. This proves the ability of humans and new gods to reach old ones, making even more sense for Pocketcat to "buy" children with special souls. Although I still don't understand why he doesn't take the child by force, killing your characters, but whatever. And among all there, she is the biggest victim. The displayed simple speech ability demonstrates how much love the girl received from her parents.

It's almost like scanning someone's mind, that person did not ascend to the digital medium, but a copy of their being was created in this new plane. Only one fundamental characteristic: All who ascended, kept their consciences, or at least their primordial will. The girl, in turn, merged with the god of the abysses. She didn't keep her consciousness like the new gods. Therefore, her process is different and should be named as such. It's as if a very small portion of her will remained, but without the strength to control what she became, unlike the others.
I think my favourite part of this is honestly the sheer HAUNTED look on Cahara's face at 00:38. It's so perfectly empty and broken and shocked all at once.
It bothers me how there's so few animations that actually follow the tone of the game. This is one of the only two that fit with Fear and Hunger and isn't some comedy or meme animation and I very much appreciate it.
I think the minimalist animation with the grungy texture really encompasses this game perfectly, not to mention the wonderful transitions with this emotionally complex song. This was your first post, and without a doubt, the God of Fear and Hunger recognizes your attempts to push towards greater heights. Well done
The girl needed to know Hapiness and Joy before she could became the God of Fear and Hunger. Because you cant know what real Fear and Hunger is without being on the opossite side.
This is beautiful, the fact that it really describes the emotional core of the whole experience, the reactions to the protagonists as they stand before the god of fear & hunger it just... feels so accurate.

It's absolutely incredible. Powerful atmosphere between the imperfect lineart and your takes on the characters and locations, AMAZING music choice (you've introduced me to Plenka, I've been rinsing their discography ever since), and your grasp of storyboarding is excellent. My only critique is that it isn't longer! Love it, keep up the great work!

I love this. You can actually feel it. Ive been binging analog horror lately. Somehow i think a lot of analog horror fans have ended up here. The idea of a girl who has known nothing but darkness, a cage, destitution, giving herself up to become a god is S-tier storytelling. The idea that these four adventurers who showed this girl the only kindness she had ever known. The look she gives, even Enki has a hard time being cross to her. Its something else.
I like how in the thumbnail enki the dark priest has little to no blood on him and a may be wrong about this but i think it represents how out of all our characters he's the only one able to truly defy good hood and is able to resist taking the false bargain and so pays the least for it

While this game is very terrifying and tries to make you uncomfortable, you end up loving and getting attached to everything, mostly the main characters. this is a beautiful video because it showcases exactly that same roller coaster of emotions that this game is. loved the part at 2:13 where Cahara is worried about the girl, makes me feel incredibly nostalgic and glad I played this game. Well, now that I think about that, maybe if she's a god, she can one day create a happier world, one that would no longer need or fear any other god, and finally let her rest. The Girl is somewhere there inside, there were memories, there was an act of mercy. I am just sad there also had to be so much pain.
One of my favorite little details is that enki isn't there in the last frame when all the other characters died to the girl turned god. This is because he cannonically escaped the dungeon and wrote the god skin bibles

I can't overstate how perfect this is. So many emotions! I've been watching this for months, and I always feel something new every time I watch it, from fear to despair to love to anger to compassion, there's so much emotion to unpack here!
I hope that you know that legit whenever I see this in my recommended, I always watch it, no excuses. It's just... so perfect. So beautiful and haunting with it's storytelling.
I'm so in love with everything about this game and this animation especially. The choice of music and your brilliant choice of art style + depictions of some scenes is just next-level. 0:50 is one of my favourites, the backstory scenes for each of the characters are so brief but I always thought D'arce and Le'garde's looked beautiful and you brought out the potency of that scene so well!

А ведь есть еще момент 2:28, будто зеркально отражающий состояние игрока, когда тот таки доводит девочку до алтаря тьмы (или как там эта гора трупов называется), а потом познает всю прелесть настоящего нового бога, которая выражается не в самой битве, а в осознании, что душу, уже в прямом смысле этого слова, после сильных потрясений добрым (или относительно добрым) отношением не залечить (по крайней мере, так быстро). Ну и финальный монолог о тщетности бытия, да.
Не знаю в какой раз пересматриваю этот шедевр но коментарий решил написать только сейчас. В первый раз посомтрел клип на момент его выхода - я тогда только слышал о вселеной Страха и Голода и не знал ни сюжета ни персонажей - как же сидьно мне запали в голову образы тз твоей анимации, все эти сцены, неизвестные мне сюжеты. Только из за твоего клипа я в тот же день купил игру и залип в неё на десятки часов. И даже сейчас, спусят два года, я наслаждаюсь этим клипом - у тебя получилось идеально попасть в атмосферу игры за счёт стиля, повествования и музыки Плёнки. Спасибо за этот шедевр ❤
Это шедевр. Эти кадры. Эта анимация с музыкой. Всё слилось во едино. Тот вайб, что этот клип дарит просто за гранью. Этот шедевр лучше всего передаёт весь спектр эмоций игрока во воемя игры и ужаса персонажей от самого подземелье. Самый запоминающийся кадр, это их шокированный взгляд на девочку. Особенно констатирует с наёмником. Он будто бы не замечал сначало и в его глазах было холодное равнодушие, но потом шок.... Это шедевр.

I like when the shots of the bloodied characters come onto display, they all look calm and collected *except* for Ragnvaldr, who is just pissed out of his mind.
keep in mind that every main character can turn into a god too, not like old god level, but a god nonetheless also ragnavaldr has an ending where he basically turns into a demonslayer with moonless which is pretty awesome

Just wanted to say that this was a very amazing animation and I'm glad I could pick up on all the references and nods to the ingame lore. I also found it really interesting that you placed Cahara as the leader of sorts and how you established his emotional connection with the girl. I personally would've thought that Ragnvaldr would have a closer connection to the girl due to his tragic backstory but Cahara's motivations also fit really well that it doesn't seem out of character at all. The entire sequence at the 2:00 mark was a masterpiece in visual storytelling. I could feel the literal emotion in each character. Cahara was just so sad, D'arc was cautious but on guard while Ragnvaldr was ready to square up immediately and Enki had this clear "different day, same shit" look to him. The next frame when all of them looked concerned you knew they were screwed. I hope if you're still making these that your next one is just as good if not greater.
Does anybody else just rewatch this over and over? Like god, it's so good at catching how horrifying it is to be in the dungeon what with watching Cahara having his arm torn off and looking insane, with Enki's head in the mouth of the Crow Mauler and more. And gosh, the transformation of the little girl, so good, but so horrifying watching the skin warp and twist, watching what used to be the tiny girl transform into this horrible deity that exudes such power.

I was playing as the Mercenary and i would bring the little girl everywhere even to all my playthroughs and reaching the part where she turns into the god of fear and hunger, all i felt was pain and fear as i see her transform into it, i didnt want to hurt her i even tried to talk to it and nothing worked, i tried everything just for me to meet thesame outcome everytime

Despite the horror and sadness of The Girl transforming into the God of Fear and Hunger, it is oddly intriguing. It is disgusting and horrific, yet oddly beautiful in the way it shows the suffering of not only herself, but the party as they are left helpless to do anything but struggle for their lives. It is hard to put into words how well you animated everything, down to the slight emotions of the characters
So why was she the vessel for it

It also looks to be a bit inaccurate. the actual transformation see's the skin of the girl shed at the new gods feet, not transformed.

It just so happens, the God of Fear and Hunger was exactly that as a child; a human who frighteningly experienced that fear and hunger in the dungeons. There is no better vessel.
Her final transformation into a faceless idol solidified that, while All-mer was a perfect godly being humanity strived to be, The God of Fear and Hunger resonated with humanity because she is a representation of their plight. She comforts humanity in showing them that they are not alone and must struggle. She is a relatable God, a figure of struggle.

Something pretty niche that i absolutely love about this is the lighting while cahara is holding the torch, the way that the light eminates from below after his torch arm is dismembered implying that it fell to the ground invoked a wierdly primal feeling. Just picture yourself exploring a dungeon and suddenly your light source is on the ground and... t-thats your fucking arm still holding it. You would be naturally drawn to the only source of light and have to scramble out of the shock of your missing arm to try and survive the creature that took it from you.
I agree with you; the look on Cahara's face is... difficult to describe, but perfectly encapsulates how one would feel. Sheer shock, horror, dread and hopelessness as you clutch your arm in the dark as something monstrous advances on you..

What i like the most about the game is that it lets you do horrendous things, it virtually never refuses your choice and NEVER judges you in any shape or form, which subjectively makes it that much more difficult moraly, since you are the only one who can condemn yourself for the sins you've commited. For example: no one slurs you for torturing your teammate, even he himself is not shown to be doing that, even his pain is shown flatly, but that makes it that much more terrifieng, since the only scream of agony there is yours.
Except if you are a pedo. Which is understandable.

I loved how honestly in-depth this was! For an animation trying to explore most of the story in a short time, it didn't come off as surface-level or anything. And I liked the initial shock on the girl's face. Too many people are like "Ugh she betrays you" when it really seemed more like she didn't have a choice in ascending to godhood. It happened TO her and it changed her. So having her express that shock when she drops the doll was a good touch

I agree. It never shows her as hateful but instead shows her as shivering and in agony. When she ascends it transforms her into something she did not originally wish to be, but she is still merciful, giving you a swift death although partially accidentally crushing you with the power of her acknowledgement of your suffering

This proves the ability of humans and new gods to reach old ones, making even more sense for Pocketcat to "buy" children with special souls. Although I still don't understand why he doesn't take the child by force, killing your characters, but whatever.

It's almost like scanning someone's mind, that person did not ascend to the digital medium, but a copy of their being was created in this new plane.
Only one fundamental characteristic: All who ascended, kept their consciences, or at least their primordial will.
The girl, in turn, merged with the god of the abysses. She didn't keep her consciousness like the new gods. Therefore, her process is different and should be named as such. It's as if a very small portion of her will remained, but without the strength to control what she became, unlike the others.
Showing the end of all the new gods before the birth of fear and hunger shows how in touch you are with the essence of the first game.
I think my favourite part of this is honestly the sheer HAUNTED look on Cahara's face at 00:38. It's so perfectly empty and broken and shocked all at once.
It bothers me how there's so few animations that actually follow the tone of the game. This is one of the only two that fit with Fear and Hunger and isn't some comedy or meme animation and I very much appreciate it.
I think the minimalist animation with the grungy texture really encompasses this game perfectly, not to mention the wonderful transitions with this emotionally complex song. This was your first post, and without a doubt, the God of Fear and Hunger recognizes your attempts to push towards greater heights. Well done

This is beautiful, the fact that it really describes the emotional core of the whole experience, the reactions to the protagonists as they stand before the god of fear & hunger it just... feels so accurate.

The idea of a girl who has known nothing but darkness, a cage, destitution, giving herself up to become a god is S-tier storytelling. The idea that these four adventurers who showed this girl the only kindness she had ever known. The look she gives, even Enki has a hard time being cross to her.

I like how in the thumbnail enki the dark priest has little to no blood on him and a may be wrong about this but i think it represents how out of all our characters he's the only one able to truly defy good hood and is able to resist taking the false bargain and so pays the least for it

While this game is very terrifying and tries to make you uncomfortable, you end up loving and getting attached to everything, mostly the main characters. this is a beautiful video because it showcases exactly that same roller coaster of emotions that this game is. loved the part at 2:13 where Cahara is worried about the girl, makes me feel incredibly nostalgic and glad I played this game.

Эта анимация не просто показывает весь мрак, жуть и безысходность, она делает это настолько хорошо, что в некоторых моментах даже сам "страх и голод" способна перебить. The Girl is somewhere there inside, there were memories, there was an act of mercy. I am just sad there also had to be so much pain.
One of my favorite little details is that enki isn't there in the last frame when all the other characters died to the girl turned god. This is because he cannonically escaped the dungeon and wrote the god skin bibles

I can't overstate how perfect this is. So many emotions! I've been watching this for months, and I always feel something new every time I watch it, from fear to despair to love to anger to compassion, there's so much emotion to unpack here!
I hope that you know that legit whenever I see this in my recommended, I always watch it, no excuses. It's just... so perfect. So beautiful and haunting with it's storytelling.
I'm so in love with everything about this game and this animation especially. The choice of music and your brilliant choice of art style + depictions of some scenes is just next-level. 0:50 is one of my favourites, the backstory scenes for each of the characters are so brief but I always thought D'arce and Le'garde's looked beautiful and you brought out the potency of that scene so well!

Больше пары десятков раз уже пересмотрел и каждый раз момент 0:39 меня дико веселит (о этот взгляд, будто говорящий "следующей будет моя... душа"), а момент 1:29 пробирает до мурашек (этот равнодушный взгляд даже страшнее всего того, что обычно представляешь у человека, совершившего роскомнадзор). А ведь есть еще момент 2:28, будто зеркально отражающий состояние игрока, когда тот таки доводит девочку до алтаря тьмы (или как там эта гора трупов называется), а потом познает всю прелесть настоящего нового бога, которая выражается не в самой битве, а в осознании, что душу, уже в прямом смысле этого слова, после сильных потрясений добрым (или относительно добрым) отношением не залечить (по крайней мере, так быстро). Ну и финальный монолог о тщетности бытия, да.

В первый раз посомтрел клип на момент его выхода - я тогда только слышал о вселеной Страха и Голода и не знал ни сюжета ни персонажей - как же сидьно мне запали в голову образы тз твоей анимации, все эти сцены, неизвестные мне сюжеты. Только из за твоего клипа я в тот же день купил игру и залип в неё на десятки часов. И даже сейчас, спусят два года, я наслаждаюсь этим клипом - у тебя получилось идеально попасть в атмосферу игры за счёт стиля, повествования и музыки Плёнки. Спасибо за этот шедевр ❤

Just wanted to say that this was a very amazing animation and I'm glad I could pick up on all the references and nods to the ingame lore. I also found it really interesting that you placed Cahara as the leader of sorts and how you established his emotional connection with the girl. I personally would've thought that Ragnvaldr would have a closer connection to the girl due to his tragic backstory but Cahara's motivations also fit really well that it doesn't seem out of character at all.
The entire sequence at the 2:00 mark was a masterpiece in visual storytelling. I could feel the literal emotion in each character. Cahara was just so sad, D'arc was cautious but on guard while Ragnvaldr was ready to square up immediately and Enki had this clear "different day, same shit" look to him. The next frame when all of them looked concerned you knew they were screwed.
I hope if you're still making these that your next one is just as good if not greater.

Does anybody else just rewatch this over and over? Like god, it's so good at catching how horrifying it is to be in the dungeon what with watching Cahara having his arm torn off and looking insane, with Enki's head in the mouth of the Crow Mauler and more. And gosh, the transformation of the little girl, so good, but so horrifying watching the skin warp and twist, watching what used to be the tiny girl transform into this horrible deity that exudes such power.

Being a mercenary, Cahara has probably done a lot of odd and dangerous shit for money but getting his arm cut off after probably just stepping foot in the dungeon (assuming its a guard with a meat cleaver) is probably a big wake up call.
