Love your channel. Love your work. The reason this bothers you is not just the business side of it. You’re passionate about your creations and put a personal touch on them for your clients so when you think you’ve lost one it stings and stings bad. Anytime this happens give it time. There’s more than just the actual structure involved. There’s work ethic, good materials, being on time, having a great attitude, standing behind your work. Even if this person has the best of intentions it doesn’t mean they have the whole package to keep clients happy. You concentrate on you. You can’t control anything someone else is doing but you can shine like a diamond in all areas including grace when it comes to this person. Also you don’t know what your clients are going through financially in this horrible economic downturn we are experiencing. They may have to pinch pennies at the moment or their spouse is giving them a hard time about the party budget, could be any number of reasons. You be YOU and SHINE at it. Everything will work for your good. ❤️

I truly understand your frustration. Im also in the balloon industry, so I completely understand. Especially during these crazy times. I’ve slightly experienced something like this. If I were you I would use this as a teachable experience. Think about when you were first starting out and you wanted to get your name out there so you said anything to capture clients and make yourself look good. In this ladies case “your competition) She’s new to the industry she may not understand the language and certain terminology we use for example I’m a business owner I would never call my business a hobby but she’s clearly unaware of that. She may not understand how much quality materials cost, labor, delivery etc.. so her advertising herself like that is truly hurting herself. So instead of you looking at this in a negative way which I completely understand because your client went to her.. which in your case truthfully is a blessing because that client was never for you.. she never valued your work she was just looking for affordability which is completely okay but those aren’t the clients you want. In this situation this is where collaboration over competition would come in. I would simply send her a sweet private message saying hello I’m a local balloon artist in the area i saw the post you made in whichever group it was… tell her to start creating healthy boundaries with clients and not advertise herself as being so cheap because when she start using quality materials, adding rentals, renting uhauls etc. it’s all going to add up. Tell her she hurting her business. I honestly wouldn’t worry about this lady babe! Keep doing you and focus on the loyal clients you do have. I do think it’s important to have a village though. 😄🤎

I just started watching your video and really enjoy and your an true inspiration and a great teacher for people who are just starting out or people who need knew ideas too. With that said, yes being a business owner it hurts when clients go somewhere else, but what I have found is a good majority come back too. It’s ok to let that person try other people maybe she was on a tight budget, things are tough today. But you don’t know what her experience will be with that person. So just remember it is never anything personal it is business. It took a while for me to feel that way, but it is the truth. You keep doing what you are doing . Don’t let this bring you down, just a lesson learned 🥰

I love your work I have been following your RUclips and Instagram accounts since I started in this journey back in February. I feel like people really does not know or understand what it takes to make something so beautiful, creatively unique and the worth it has on all aspects from the time you vision it to the time you make it and all in between. I have a full time job, I am a mother of three, also a student and I still decided to embark myself in this journey. I'm still struggling to put myself out there and sometimes I do want to throw the towel. But, when I see people love what I do and send pictures that's when I keep going no matter what others may think. So I feel your pain, and your sister gave you a fantastic idea! You keep doing what you are doing and while a door may close you will have a thousand more that will open for you❤️

I got you and I understand you completely. That customer that left will come back and will ask for less. You get what you pay for bye bye. Is so sad how far people are reaching mentally to put down them self and trying tu put down others as well. The worst you can do is to compare your self with others. And that’s apply in everything you do in your life.

I think you said it when you said "this is a business" that being said you have to expect competition...competition helps you to not become complacent 😏so don't take competition as a bad thing...look at what it has already got you thinking about your business and repeat customer. Don't take her comment about her prices being lower, she may right now be doing this as a hobby but may be looking or experimenting with what it takes to do a set up that is not very close to you. As for the customer she is a customer the fact that she was not up front with you...says you were more loyal to her as a customer than she way. But don't let these things hurt you. Keep doing your best, your customer may have gotten what she thinks is a good deal but if the other designer can't deliver the quality that you bring and what she is use to, then did she really get a good deal. Just keep doing your thang 🙂

It could be the lady who is under pricing perhaps didn't do an in-depth costing or using cheaper materials. Maybe she just wants to turn her hobby into a business and has to sacrifice to start somewhere to get clients to build up her portfolio. In which case people who can afford to, could volunteer to build up their portfolio and then charge a market related price so neither they nor other businesses are impacted negatively. However, like some of the other comments and the great advice from your sister you can only control what you do. Keep doing what you enjoy, your joy will make room for you.

Maybe contacting the customer and ask for feedback in how you can grow or improve that caused the recent change.

She won’t last in the industry, she’s not only undercutting other businesses around her but she’s undercutting herself. I’m sure your client will be back and I’m sure this other lady will realise soon enough that she’s working for free 😏

  • @TheCraftyBalloonist

Sooner or later the hobbyists will get tired of working for free.

I bet it was a rookie mistake. Bad mistake but probably she just isn’t good at marketing. Lol She will see how expensive and time consuming it is and will eventually adjust her prices. If not then your work and her work will speak for itself 💜💜

Yeah, I think that was kind of a dirty trick what she did. She's had to have seen your post before so she knows that you post in there and have a balloon business. That post may have been directed at you and your business. I think maybe the next time you advertise in there just talk about your experience and just keep posting the pictures of things that you do. Eventually, if she's not charging enough or lowballing other balloon artists she's going to lose money and she's either going to quit doing it or she's going to raise her prices. I think your sister's idea is a really good idea. I would go ahead and send the client that you lost a coupon too. Who knows she may decide to go with you after all. If not this time maybe next time.
