As someone who is Chinese, I can tell there's two meanings behind what yae's cn VA just said .
She said "她是我女朋友”
In Chinese, it can mean she's my girlfriend (romantically) or she's my girl friend (platonically) and based of the joking tone of what the VA said it's most likely the second, platonically.

To break down the horrible misleading TikTok video.
1. No Yae Sakura and Yae Miko aren't alternate dimension counterparts, that was a theory made up by fans because they reuse some character designs.
2. It was the Japanese VA's joking around.
3. The only VA's who are limited by what they can say and joke around about while in character are the English and Chinese.
Literally, like, how tf they have the confidence to say yae sakura = yae miko, when their personality is alr on opposite spectrum.
& It was Ei's CN VA who said it i believe? Which also doesnt mean much since she didnt talk as Ei + alot of VAs light heartedly simping for other characters on stream + i've seen some chinese ppl explained the word she used could meant 'female friends' rather than 'girlfriend' (which they got attacked by those Sexuality Justice Warriors)

Ok, ships aside. Stealing someone’s art and not acknowledging the fact that even the artist said they do not allow edits is just disgusting. Artists work hard for their pieces, getting them stolen and ending up getting disrespected is just not right and will never be. I can‘t believe someone woke up and said to themselves, “You know what? EDIT: So a lot of people are pointing this out, but a lot of genshins characters don't even have confirmed sexualities (including many of the character that people claim are lesbians), and much of the "proof" is flimsy (like some people taking a small cutscene of two women talking = lesbian level of flimsy). It isn't actually important to my comment, which moreso is about the hypocrisy of wanting some ships to work regardless of cannon sexuality while wanting OTHER ships to be banned cause they aren't the correct sexuality . if you are talking about genshin ships, they didn't ignore a character's original sexuality, because there is no confirmed sexuality, so until proven otherwise by the creators, characters are pan/bi

I've said this once and I will say it again. The headcanon shippers are the ones ruining the community. They are beyond childish and just end up distracting from other larger issues that need to be seen and talked about. As a person whose loving the lore of Genshin Impact right now, and a non-yaeyato shipper, that just... that claim on either Ei saying Yae is her girlfriend or Yae saying it about Ei. I remember exactly what Yae said in the story cuz I knew one of two things would happen. 1, people ignore it or 2, people would attack Hoyo for it. What's crazy is that in the story, Yae said "She is an old friend of mine." So this whole thing is legit a troll lmao
Apparently the voice actor did a joke saying "she's my girlfriend" in a live from and this person decided that this was enough as proof.
A random stream where the voice actors always joke between each other is apparently enough for it to be Canon.

Still following this person logic it means that Aether Canonically called Kaeya daddy and he (Aether) has a thing for him just because Zach joked about it calling him daddy probably because he (Zach) think that Kaeya is attractive which to be honest he's not wrong.
Or maybe Aether x Albedo are Canon because Zach and Khoi flirt during the stream sometimes.
Also Aether and Lumine are reunited because the voice actor played at Genshin together as Aether and Lumine and Thoma is their babysitter.

When I saw it I immediately thought that he's definitely a babysitter type of person however considering Aether and Lumine actually game personality and not the voice actors they wouldn't need Thoma as babysitter since even if they do make jokes sometimes they are really mature and responsible adults, not to forget the fact that they are actually older than every human character (Noelle, Barbara, Jean, Lisa, Kaeya, Thoma, Childe, this characters that aren't mixed with creature who have a longer life span) so even if Thoma would definitely be a perfect babysitter and he would definitely do that Aether or Lumine wouldn't do anything that needs them to be kept in place since they are way more mature and serious than some adults.
They only joke when they can but when they hang out with their friends they are really calm and composed, more like the calm type of friend that tease or roast you a lot and that rarely gets mad or pick up a fight with someone they hate but when they do they don't really hold back.
At least that's what I gathered from their voicelines and the hangout or the Canon lore of the story events.

I never specified he would be babysitting them (Aether/Lumine) specifically. if you notice I said he would be pulling babysitter duty FOR them. this could indeed be interpreted as him babysitting them, and also as them having asked him to look after the less mature members of their group for a while. Your interpretation of it is still valid, with valid points about Aether and Lumine.

yae miko is a shrine maiden, shrine maidens have a special rules where they have to marry specifically men who are trained in certain art's and have practiced the 'naughties' previously. hoyo absolutely loves using real cultural information genshin, therefore it is much more likely yae would love ayato than any other character, as he is trained in multiple different arts.

@@andrewfantome4020 Due to the fact they belong to two out of three of the most influencial groups of Mondstadt, the fact they are both Knights of Favonius (well, Diluc was one before, at least), and the fact they both use claymores, of course people ended up shipping them even before we even got Eula into the Game. The shipping was as toxic as the people that do LGBT Ships (especially Beidou-and-Ningguang Ships and Ei-andYae Ships) and was so toxic to the point that it is on par with the people hating on Eula for her Character Background.
This ship sank so hard when we finally have the Voice-Overs or Diluc and Eula about each other.

As sad as it looks, Diluc is one of the very few who truly understands Eula's Character but is great dislike for the Knights of Favonius ruined it for him.
Additionally, Eula didn't have the patience to understand that Diluc is just simply one to put faith in and show compassion for others without having the ability to properly express it (he has one hell of a poker face). Eula, at this very situtaion, was no different from the people that judged her for her clan.
TLDR: Diluc and Eula would naturally never get along with no hint of redemption, despite the Shipping long before. XD

The "Ei/Yae is my girlfriend" thing isn't 100% correct. Through the shipping lens, YES you can believe that they said it in a romantic context. HOWEVER as far as my Chinese ability is concerned, "女朋友" can reference both girlfriend AND friend who is a girl. Also, what happened to "What the VA's say isn't canon lore"?
Liking a different ship isn't problematic if you mind your fucking business. No yaeyato shipper would genuinely want to interact with shipping police like them anyway, and this is coming from a casual Eimiko liker. Honestly, I just want a peaceful experience with the game. You know, like watching the cool edits people make, listen to theories or lore people found, support an unproblematic ship or two that I find adorable. I even made an online friend within the game that I'm going to meet up with this summer. Wholesome, right? Luckily I don't interact myself with Twitter very often. I only have a Twitter account to look at what my favorite voice actors are doing.
I think people need to realise Genshin isn’t about shipping, it’s about two travelling twins who were separated and are trying to find each other (at the start anyway). Stop making such a complex and amazing story all about romantic relationships between characters. Feel free to ship something, but don’t turn them into arguments and become a toxic waste dump over them. It’s not worth giving this amazing game a bad reputation over.

I have a theory that these people see themselves in these characters, so when something doesn't go according to their opinions it feels like a personal attack just like endeavor's redemption arc in mha, a lot of people who suffered abuse by their parents saw themselves in Shoto so they got very mad when he "forgave" endeavor for the abuse, because they don't want to forgive their abuser so they believe Shoto must not do it as well
No character has a cannon sexuality unless the creators of the game really said so or released the character with a sexuality. No ships are cannon either. I got attacked once for saying that ships aren’t actually cannon and no matter how they are implied as like a close friendship, the fandom will always try to force characters together and probably most of the genshin fandom doesn’t even have friends because there’s a clear difference between a romantic relationship and a close friendship. Genshin fandom sucks and most of it is filled with annoying mean people so I probably wouldn’t get involved with it. The good parts of the genshin fandom get attacked from the bad side too

I witnessed something similar in another fandom. Usually when there’s media with lots of characters and overlapping interactions across all genders, stuff like this happens in the fandom. A person will say “X character is gay because they had intense interaction and implied discussion with X!” and said character also had implied intense interaction with characters opposite their gender. People get into fights and be like “no this character is not gay!” and “if you say this character isn’t gay ur homophonic.”
Fandoms fight over these ambiguous ships because of that “my way or the high way” mentality. Ambiguous interactions usually leave fandoms in shambles because: more people want gay rep, some people hate gay rep, and there’s no canon gay ship for people to latch onto. All of these people mixing creates fandom fights.
Them making some canon gay ships wouldn't change anything. They would ask for more because they never can get enough. Believe me this is not about ships. This is about people who want to appear righteous on the Web, have authoritarian complex and just look for any reason to let lose their abusive self's.

Gonna debunk something as a honkai player: Yae miko & Yae sakura have never been confirmed to be the same person, to my knowledge. If i am wrong, please do correct me. Also alternate universe of the same characters can have different personalities and preferences, I've seen it before just can't remember where
Hell there's a good example in Honkai. Namely Kallen and Otto being married in another timeline.

I mean, i believe Yae and Ei have a much more complicated and deep relationship, Yae is not one out of four, she is Ei's only familiar and she has taken a human form where they share constant interactions outside needing each other. Yae goes to Ei with sweets and novels just for the company. But I still don't fully ship them outside of thinking it's cute. I think Ayato and Yae are cute aswell. I don't see the need for all the aggression in this community with harrassment and such, both sides like the characters, just in different ways sometimes.

genshin itself is different from the community, as it's just a game and not actually interacting with the toxic community (not counting co-op). to base the game, something that people have been working hard at, off of the community, feels unfair to the developers. personally, i enjoy the game, and stay away from the community and co-op, and it makes for a fantastic experience. it's not a perfect game, but i love the way the elements react, i love gliding over the beautiful scenery, i enjoy recreating the food that's in genshin. there's more than the community
I played for about a month. The content was lacking, and the game felt like it was 10 years old.
They have apparently added more content, doesnt change the outdated engine and graphics. Doesnt change the piss-poor drop-rates. Doesnt change the vocal morons in the community.
