The '57 Pontiac, in my opinion, is one of the most beautifully styled cars of the elegant '50's era. And three deuces too!! Wow! Lou, I love your vids!
HI matt zehentner, Glad you enjoy the design of this car :-) Happy to read you "love" the vids. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
I was in kindergarten when this car came out. It was beautiful then, and it's beautiful now.
I think the car probably gets better looking with age, Lou
I first remember these cars before I was in grade school barcrrt Between 1963 and 1966 I still like them 2022
One of the great unsung classics from Pontiac.
An amazing car. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
My first memories of cars were my Dad's yellow Pontiac Star Chief (1954?) and 57 Ford Fairlane 500. So this brings back great memories...
Glad to read this video brings happy memories for you :-)
My dad had one of these when he married my mom in 1959. Still have pictures of it. Thanks
HI Chris Tolbert, Nice memories :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
I think that's my dad's Star Chief. My grandmother bought it off the showroom floor .. 3 two barrels...that's it.
Hi Joey, Thank you for viewing and sharing this might be your Dads car. Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Rock and Roll for Pontiac
• Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂.
Glad you like this one. Lou
I have seen many 1957 Chevys. But, I cannot recall seeing any of the 1957 Pontiacs. The reason why I know this is true is that I did not know until recent years that all the 1957s looked similar regardless of whether they were made by Pontiac, Oldsmobile, or Chevy! I was born in 1957!
Hi Jed, Happy to read you and this car have the same birth year. NICE! Lou
Gorgeous car with that notable side spear styling feature. Really neat front turn signal indicators. Jewel like instrument panel with a full complement of gauges. Very rare. This is the first one I've seen.
Lou, your videos are always well presented in a friendly conversational manner asking just about the same questions I would if I were in your place.
Fun car to video and share. Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Pretty wild story Terry but I like it How about doing a video giving that car a hard revv That would be phenomenal
Hi Robert, Happy to read you enjoy this story. The rev's are fun :-) Lou
I had one, but mine was in black and white. I wish I still got it. I called it Caesar.
Hi Lennart Sjöström, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this Channel you enjoy! Please Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Nice looking car. I like the red top.
Hi Harold, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
I had one in high school. Loved it.
Hi G Howard, Glad you "loved it" and have wonderful memories :-) Nice, Lou
One of the coolest cars you've ever done. If you had time you could have compared it to the famous 57 Chevy Bel Air. These models looked similar and had many of the same parts. I wonder if they had some of the same engines as well? I have no complaints, I enjoyed the show!
Hi Jed Clampett, High praise for this car / episode :-) Lou
very nice...definitely a car from another time....just sit in it close your eyes and try to imagine how it was back then....if you're not old enough to have been there
Hi Christopher May, "close your eye and try to imagine" I like that :-) Lou
The 57 Pontiac with the 347 Tri Power is definitely my favorite GM car of the 50s. Like the 58 Pontiac's too. The 59 I don't like quite as much even though that was the first year of the 389 engine
Hi Jeremy Thompson, Glad to read this is a favorite of yours :-) Lou
A very good looking Pontiac , full of interesting features - nice to see something different from that era !
Agreed. I enjoyed how original this car is. Fun car to video (a little challenging weather), Lou
Another real nice car.
:-)
This car looked like the famed 1957 Chevy!
I can see why you'd say that.
Terry was correct in chasing this one.
Nice :-)
Wow...... right out of a dream.....😍👍🏻😉
Hi George B, Watch this video two times before bed and have "sweet dreams" :-) Nice! Lou
1950s cars had the best design interior dash style in all history of automobile! Cars just dont have "class" anymore! Period point blank!
Agreed, so much fun to sit inside them and look around :-)
What a nice car, looks like it has tailpipes under the car as well as the outlets through the bumpers....
Yes, you're right, the bumpers appear to have a exhaust outlet (had me convinced they were there) but one the car started I heard the sound from under the car and found the exhaust. Good catch, Lou
Here is a notes Kramden from Terry the Owner "Thanks am enjoying your site......Not uncommon to run the exhaust not thru the bumpers like the factory did as those tailpipe pieces are impossible to find. they are extinct .They are long since rusted out. so if you u are lucky enough to have a nice set. You save them 4 posterity so u no longer run the exhaust thru them..........thanks Terry", Hope that helps, Lou
Wow I want a classic Pontiac star chief so bad
Hi Brian Murphy, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of a Pontiac Star Chief soon, Lou
Most Excellent Example of the Star Chief Conv. Tri Power. Imagine being Flagged Down and told I wanna Buy your Car? Well, I did the opposit of that driving a 1983 Crown Vic Wagon in MINT condition Royal Blue that was a business lease vehicle never used with a family. and had 40K on it. Fully Optioned and I saw a local family test driving a 1981 Ford Crown Vic wagon that was in rough shape with double the miles I had I checked it out at a local lot. And more money then I wanted for mine. of course I pssed them and did a 180 and flashed the lights beeped the horn until they pulled over and explained why I did. 20 minutes later they were in my house signing the title. they were so grateful. And it saved me from advertising it. I wish I had that car now. $3000 was a steal LOL!
Hi Gene978, It's a amazing story. Thank you for sharing and adding to this story, Lou
a new era for Pontiac that lasted until 1981.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
Am I seeing it wrong or is it 2 dual barrel carbs and a single 1v carb? The front one looked like a single but it's prob from the angle. Also very cool story, luckily the couple didn't call the cops on some guy following them haha.
Hi Jeffrey, 3 - 2 Barrels. You're right, a fun story on how he purchased the car, Lou
feel sorry for the guy that had to part with such a working fine Relic he must be upset by now to see it on this car stories show.
You're probably right :-)
He didn't have to part with it. Hopefully his wife doesn't nag him anymore.
dummy exhaust in bumper. Below bumper was the actual exhaust pipe
Yes, you are correct.
Robert Callahan interestingly, seems like the bumper exhausts really corroded out quick: in my Memory of those that did use BUMPERS: OLDS, CADDY,ETC..these ponchos were incredibly desirable in my High School Days......, also V8 Mercury’s, Pursuit Police packages (( ** a fertile field).
Lou Costabile Interestingly, these 50’s Ponchos were extremely desirable, also the Police Pursuits packages of Ford,Chev, etc..., even in the 60,s could be a fertile “ My Car Story”......thanks..
Wonder Bar and a Power Antenna was not a rare option
Thank you for sharing.
Lou, why don't you take these cars for a short drive??? Other hosts either drive the car, or have the owner take them for a quick trip around the block!!!
Hi tom ryan, It's based on time. The more time I have, the more video you see. When I'm at a car show, no rides, just review. When I stop by someone garage, a ride or drive is possible, like in this video link here for you to enjoy! Lou ruclips.net/video/bNJ1dx-kwxY/видео.html
How do you hurry though that car just because it's windy ?
Hi Tim Holder, Glad you asked. If it starts raining, the Care Taker is going home, and then there is no video to share & discuss with you now. Stay well, Lou
@@loucostabile Hey don't get me wrong I love your show.
The tri-power plaque is not original to the 57 Pontiac.
Hi Harold, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
What a Visual Treat!!!!!!! Maybe tell Donald Trump to ride in this one ..............To His Inauguration!!!!!! It would make America Instantly Great Again!!!!!!
That's a good idea. Lou
he can ride in one to jail
1957 Pontiacs have ENGINES not MOTORS
