I’ve found Tongkat has helped to give me more energy, focus, uplifted mood and stronger libido. I have actually experienced the side effects mentioned. All 3. Insomnia, agitation, restlessness. At first I didn’t realize it was the Tongkat. To combat the insomnia I’ll usually take it earlier in the day. I don’t take it all the time because of the agitation. The restlessness doesn’t seem to bother me too much. I have noticed when I take Tongkat in lower doses then I don’t have the issues I mentioned. Many do the Tongkat formulas seem to be sold in the higher doses though. I’ve found it in some Horny Goat Weed blends at a much lower dose and there is no side effects for me there.

tongkat ali is one of the most effective natural test booster thou there are minimal side effects upon using in the 1st weeks such as headache and light sleep but i figured out it only happen when im taking it on my rest days when im not doing anything physically challenging in the day and when i dont get to drink enough water for the day normally i would chug a gallon or more but when im on my rest day i would forget to do so since im not moving that much but when i work out i had an abundant boost when it comes to strength improvement i thought it was just the placebo but it was not since im almost i had taken it for about a month now i got my blood work check before and after it was 235 before then after a month i got about 576 free test. so for those who are experiencing such side effects try drinking more water and do light workouts i have an improved recovery from my workouts as well.

Tongkat Ali is 100% proven to NOT raise testosterone at all! It simply messes with SBHG letting more testosterone move through the body. Free testosterone is bound up Tongkat Ali helps it move more freely. If you take it and think your getting a testosterone booster you are very wrong. I read numerous studies and done pre and post Tongkat Ali which proved the studies correct. My testosterone remained very low(never changed at all) SBHG went down and free testosterone went up a little. Zero extra testosterone

I thought maybe intensive boxing sessions increase prolactin or cortesole n lower my test levels so i started taking 400 mg tongkat ali n after a week i noticed that i feel great in general, i am in good mood, libido is high even after training, focus is better, it seems that my cognitive state is better n now i train every day n i have energy for other parts of my life. Just started taking it. Brand name AKARALI premium tongkat ali. I'm 58 yo and had just been through a couple of surgeries, one for my heart arrhythmia and total knee replacement. Can't really say that my heart will benefit from it, and I haven't had any arrhythmia episodes since the surgery, but the knee surgery, however, is the primary reason I decided to take tongkat since before and after surgery I really have gotten out of shape and need something to boost my energy and to help with recuperation and getting back in some degree of shape. I took the maximum recommended dose, which is 400mg, and I don't know if I'll continue that dose, but we'll see if it works out.

As a person like you that survived and aortic dissection and have arrhythmia issues as well 400mg depending on product might be too much.
Keep doing the magnesium, then add vitamin D, K2, boron, COQ10 ashwaganda and my personal favorite theanine.
When I took tongkat I noticed a boost for about two weeks and then really nothing. But I experienced some arythmia and would not recommend it to others with heart issues.

    • @colinkennedy4646
      @colinkennedy4646 11 месяцев назад +1

@C-commerce Yeah, it really isn't a problem because the ablation surgery was for a type of arrhythmia that was easily solvable, an AVNRT, to be exact. I also gave up vaping, and so my heart has really settled into a solid sinus rhythm. I really think tongkat should be used in an on and off cycle anyway, but personally, I didn't experience anything that would be reason to be alarmed.

You've just hit it on the nose that CKD patients CANNOT take this supplement! Approx. 5 months ago the first 2 days I tried 400mg's of TA with 600mg's of Fodagio Agrestis and couldn't sleep for 3 days straight, very frustrating. The weird thing I also noticed that my mind was fully alertm didn't feel tired and was full of energy within that 72hr period which isn't always safe because mentally and physically you should be zonked after not sleeping for 3 days and not feel like you could be weight lifting on your third night of having no sleep! Keep in mind, the 3rd day I did not take any TA and this effect was solely on the first 2 days of taking TA with FA. I had decided to start on this because I was watching a podcast from Andrew Huberman which he had recommended that we start at 400mg's of TA & 600mg's with FA. Day 4 I was still not able to sleep but can feel that it was starting to wear off and by day 5 I was able to get back to sleeping but didn't fall asleep until close to midnight but atleast I fell asleep! 2 days later I started at 200mg on TA "Tongkat Ali" and 600mg's of Fodagio Agrestis, worked out later that day and it felt awesome! As the days went by as long as I gave it 3+ hours to get into the system my workouts would be great but did notice that when starting to take this on the first week when I tried working out 1hr after taking it, my mental alertness was not there and my workouts was not good and felt like it had no effect on improving my workouts not like how week 2 did for me "Just mentioning this now because I can tell you this from experience".
Keep in mind I have never went off or cycled this supplement and started noticing around 90 days later I started having pains on my right wrist and my left ball joint right below the knee and the pain would not go away but worked through it. By around 75 days into taking both supplements I started to notice that my gains and the effect it had on me was wearing off and it didn't give me the same push like it did during the first 2 months and was tapering off where the drive I had before when working out was just 50% compared to the beginning and same thing with the mental focus so cycling on and off with these supplements is recommended!
By the end of month 3, I started noticing constant urination throughout the day around 6 times throughout the day and almost every hour during sleep times which I know isn't good news! It got so bad that my right lower back was hurting and had decided to just stop taking it which caused a whole lot of issues immediately right after I stopped cold turkey taking both of these pills. For the next couple of days I felt very irritable, couldn't sleep, very short tempered or aggitated and major anxiety to the point where after day 4 I drove myself to the ER because of the pain in my knee, my wrist, my back and the anxiety was so bad my left side of my face felt a little numb and my heart just didn't feel right! I had a blood and urine test done and also chest XRAY's and also an ultrasound near the kidney's and stomach area and my test resulted with EFGR 51 which I think it's CKD3 "Chronic Kidney Disease" and before I was at EFGR 61 the year before!
After 7 days of going off these supplements I was able to feel normal and start sleeping normal and started looking into why this was happening and thought 100% it was the Fodagio Agrestis causing this because I have seen a video about FA that came out in 2022 about Fodagio Agrestis causing harm to the liver and kidneys which at the time didn't think Tongkat Ali was the supplement doing this to me. Approx. 45 days later I started with 200mg's Tongkat Ali using it only on my workout days which I did notice that the effect it had on my was nowhere the same as being on it daily so in the beginning of week 2 started taking it everyday as Andrew Huberman said cycling it wasn't required BUT around day 11 the constant urination and light back pain started to kick in again. I'm writing this is to let others know that even with low doses of this supplement isn't safe if your are a CKD patient and now have to worry about the after effects of going off this knowing what it did to me the first time I went off it cold turkey but this time will slowly go off it taking 100mg for the next couple of days to see if the anxiety and other complications it caused me the first time will not be as bad as going off cold turkey.
I'm hoping that others will have a chance to read this and also learn from this. I think that even if someone had no chronic kidney disease will not have the problems I ran into as fast as I had it but in due time or with the longer use of this supplement, you will eventually run into the same problem much later down the road!
I will update the phase of going off this supplement once I am back to normal and my system is 100% clean from the side effects. Forgot to mention that I am 51 years old. I'm hoping that no one starts at the high dosages that Andrew Hubermann is suggesting because that's so unsafe and very surprised that he's recommending people to start so high and hope my experience with TA & FA will help you guys! Cheers

@@randygonzalez5758 After some testing and trials I do know that increased urination is related with too much toxicity to the liver. I do find that if I took 200-300mg every 3 days it was pretty safe for myself so by the time my week was over, I would've only taken Tongkat Ali just twice a week averaging 400-600mgs per/week compared to 800mgs but did find that because I am only taking it twice a week 300mg was the better "performance equalizer" in my workouts and not 200mg. I'm pretty sure 200mg would be even a safer amount to take twice a week.
My workout schedule is a 2 days on and 1 day off so it works out great and will see how the "frequent urination" affects me and only time will tell. I usually try to drink a detox drink twice a week and find that it really helps flush out the bad crap out of my kidneys and liver so that usually cosists of 2 whole green apples, 2 whole red beets, 2 celery, 4-5 slices of ginger, a bushel of parsley or corriander and a bushel of baby spinach blended into my Nija blender and sifted whith a cheese cloth to separate the pulp and it's good! FYI, I'm almost 52 years old and the one I've learned throughout the years especially when you're taking supplements is to always "DETOX" 1-2 times a week to get rid of the toxins in your system and to avoid raising your ALT & AST levels in your liver, it's VERY unsafe even just drinking post and pre-workout drinks!

I'll be straight up, I know it's probably not what you feel like doing but, I got run through the wringer while searching for help. I found a private integrative medicine practice near where I live that specializes in hormone optimization. This Dr. used to practice family medicine and during his studies figured out that he could do the most good for people by balancing and optimizing hormones. They essentially make us who we are, change how we think, how we respond to stress and other situations and did I mention they change how we think??? It's crazy. Anyway, I'm commenting because, the side effects seem very real with this supplement. Not saying a low dose wouldn't do some good for you but, there might be better ways to attack the problem. I commented above, it's a bit of a longer read but, you might get some ideas on what to try next. The long and short of my situation is that having a good Dr. hasn't freed me from having to read and study about my body and what is going on but, together the 2 of us have made great progress in 13 years. Slow but, forward. Check out @humangarage on instagram. I am all about this guys' stuff now. He deals with how the body keeps score of our trauma and how to help your body put it behind you. If you deal with PTSD, he may be the best person to help you. It might seem silly or like it won't work but brother, most of us that have finally found someone who tells the truth after being lied to and ripped off until we are ready to give up. Check him out. I wish you well and I hope you find the results you are looking for.

Thank you for the very helpful and comprehensive analysis! The side effects would just stack on top of what I am already dealing with in those areas. No more sleeplessness, restlessness or irritability needed. haha I was checking up on this because I have been experimenting with aphrodisiacs lately and have had some pretty noticeable successes with Maca Root Powder, combined with Muira Puama & Damiana. The Maca tends to peak at about 30 minutes to an hour after ingesting it. The Muira Puama is a quick release formula so, I take it right before activity begins. I usually take the Damiana with the Maca Root Powder. What I noticed is that my mental arousal is pretty high with this combination. I have also experienced an increase in sexual pleasure; When it feels good, it feels better than usual which has led to longer intercourse times and longer periods of physical arousal. If I orgasm before the peak wears off my orgasms have been a little longer and more satisfying but, it's quite the dance to perform on top of my already cumbersome dance I do for my overall health. As far as helping with ED, I wouldn't say that any of those make it any better with prolonged use but, I do cycle the Maca powder on and off and notice better results with a few weeks on and a week off, or maybe just a few days off. Combine all of that with a 3 or more days of abstinence and you've got a real horse in this race. :D For more information on helping with ED, I have been following a gentleman named Gary Lineham (@humangarage) on instagram. He also has a youtube channel where he shows you how to do fascial maneuvers that help the body get back to better function. He is super knowledgeable and I have just written myself a plan to use his maneuvers to help my own physical performance in many ways. From my own journey that began about 13 years ago I suspect that MOST ED can be traced back to malfunction and disease in the gut, (Liver, spleen, kidney, adrenal glands and more) which all begins with how we live our lives, what we eat, what we drink, where we live, devices we use, how we sleep (SLEEP IS HUGE!!). If you don't sleep enough, minimum 6-7 continuous hours a night, you will feel awful. Eventually, your body can't keep up with the high stress hormones and the body and brain not being able to repair themselves and then you are really in for a treat. Don't lose your health!!! It can feel impossible to get it back and it might actually be! Do more GOOD things for your body every day than you do bad things. It's not what you do some of the time that really matters (unless we are talking about meth, lol! Don't do meth.) It's what you do all of the time. Another thing I have read multiple places is that in terms of things you can put in your mouth or do daily that will help the most, Movement and Minerals are the most important. Move your body for fun and for exercise. Take minerals. Look at RE-Mag & RE-Myte made by Dr. Carolyn Dean. She made a breakthrough with a formula that uses picometer sized particles which just happens to be the size that our cells are ready to accept. It makes absorption much better with lower doses than any other powder, pill or liquid out there. They are game changers. I use Ultima Replenisher to mix into it so it doesn't taste so off-putting. Raspberry & Lemon are the 2 best flavors and I mix them both in 1 liter of water a day. If you are only drinking regular old bottled water, you are likely losing a lot of minerals by the day. Gotta put them back! If you drink caffeine or alcohol you are losing even more! Sorry for the book! I have just suffered for a long time while everyone I sought out for help just made their money off of me. I hope this helps anyone reading.

Tongkat ali makes me angry or irritable. Any ways to avoid that?

    • @ArsalanAspires

It is a known side effect. Not much ways to work around it except for minimizing other factors in life that also add to irritability. Caffeine can be one. Also not getting enough quality sleep when taking Tongkat Ali can contribute to it too.
      I hope this helps!
