@@patmichaud7352 I believe it is the Schmidt Array SA250 (Josh talks about it on his own channel that it's one of three boards he has, a small for fly gigs, a large for the studio, and this medium one for all the fun new pedals)
Ok this one is very special: Two great guitarists and a very special board, every second of this is full of great taste and deep pedal wisdom. I have the Myriad and love it, unique versatile, crazy creative, well, a myriad.
This is dated 12/21 and I've never seen it and it is an amazing video ! I just have to be so grateful to both Josh and Don Carr 👍. Josh is an incredible guy who knows so much and stays humble enough so he can just keep advancing !!! Don is on point here. No way I could keep up with conversation with Josh but they both talk that different dialect really well together. I didn't miss a second and repeated a bunch. Thx to Josh, Don and Sweetwater 👍!!!
Such an amazing player and I love how into sharing his knowledge and passion he is. A true master and student of guitar and I really admire his use of the historic and modern gear in his own voice. I can't get enough of him nerding out on his gear!
I really like Josh’s wet/dry solution. It is not easy to find pedals to fit into your rig that will do what the poly does (at least not for me). I also like the idea of having some guitar specific pedals like the TS for the strat. I also ended putting together a mini board just for my strat. Josh’ solution is more elegant.
This series is great! I dig Josh’s philosophy of bringing out all the nuance of your tone and nurturing it as opposed to just compressing it or adding too much gain. Very cool!
For sure! I believe there's an addendum to that though: if you're bringing in gain, give it the extra volume it needs to really blossom. A clean sound at the same volume as a distorted one will just eat the latter up.
Its so interesting adding modern technologies to primitive 12-bar, the results are audio-magic but The real magic is the level Josh-Smith takes primitive 12-bar... not so primitive... great video, wealth of knowledge
I live in Belgium. I was first interested in the Vemuram brand and thanks to this brand I discovered 2 exceptional guitarists: Josh Smith and Oz Noy! These 2 guitarists have become a reference for me! I have the Oz Noy signature and the myriad Fuzz ! Great pedals
I've seen Oz Noy a few times in Greenwich Village in NYC.,,,,amazing player and one of the reasons I bought the Roland Blue Cube Artist which he used on a couple shows.
Josh is amazing. I got to see him last night and didn't even know he was playing with Joe B. That was a treat but wish he and Joe traded licks all night. One of the best around
+1 million for the KingTone pedals. Jesse is a player first(and that man can play!) and a pedal builder second. He knows all about the peculiarities and preferences of musicians that want to use the types of pedals/gear he develops.
Found a tchula! It’s not expensive either. I mean it’s not cheap either but definitely worth the price. I ordered one. It’s white not metal colored like his but other than that it looks the same. I hope it sounds the same.
The chulla is the one pedal I didn’t recognize and was super curious about. From the start i fixated on it (probably because i didn’t know what it was) i had a feeling it was important though. Now i want one after hear how much you use it. I’ve never heard anybody say they have a pedal on that much during a gig. Basically you click it on and roll with it. I like that. If i have to turn knobs and turn this on and that off i get annoyed. I like shit you can turn on and forget about. The only knobs i want to turn are the ones on my guitar. I can deal with an occasional adjustment on an amp due to the room or a drummer that thinks he needs to be heard more than me lol.
He sounded so good without the Tchula on. It's cool that he gets what he wants out of gear though. I just don't like the volume boost of the Tchula and the grit it adds to his sound, only when compared to not having it on. Josh sounds awesome regardless, it's just my opinion anyway.
The Sweetwater experience just keeps getting better! Josh Smith!? One of my newest favorites I discovered during the pandemic lock down! A musician that has his own sound and very happy to see this sit-down with Sweetwater! Thank you for the video Sweetwater and thank you Josh Smith for your time to help guide us along our own musical journey:)
Zipper fuzz.....I like that and really like that H9.... I'm thinking about an Xmas H9 for me Hmmm what do I get my significant other I got it !! A 65 Super Reverb
I hope Sean Michael's make a big comeback with Lovepedal I use and love his EPH3 for echo He makes great drive pedals bar none Also have his CoT Church of Tone drive pedal Very close to the Tchula My board is very minimalistic Guitar - Sunface - Xotic Clean boost - Analogman TS - Lovepedal EPH3 Wah after drives and before modulation when I get the right one
Josh is absolutely right about this, but with a caveat.... At 30 minute mark hes talking about balancing clean and driven tones... this must be kept in context. There's a huge difference between a guitar amp on stage in a club with a 4-5 piece band relying mostly on the amp rather than PA, versus a guitarist going direct to console, onstage with 8 other people, another electric guitarist, with multitracks and 1500 people in a congregation for church gigs. Its just a whole different philosophy of balancing your tones. You need to be useable to the FOH engineer whos trying to manage a thick mix. I use a 3-4db VOLUME boost for sections i really need to stand out but I'm also choosing my drives accordingly as well. If I want something super thick a juicy I'm going for my TS style drive. I'm also using different EQs on my boost to do what I need it to. With technology today there are 6 ways to do all this depending on your rig, but you gotta look at it differently than you would if you were playing a small club gig where the audience is hearing your amp directly and you actually do have to compete with a drummer and other instruments.
amazing ......but ive been playing for 20 years and i still do not know all of the jargon.....if someone could throw in explanations while they talk that would be really helpful ......sorry im not up to snuff
So many incredible stompboxes in Josh's pedalboard! 🔥 Don’t forget to like and subscribe to get the latest videos in this series 💙
What brand is the actual pedal board???

The same here 😂

Did Josh´s toggle switch cap just fall off at 33:18? Yes it did! Stunning playing as always!
Same at 27:25 😅
Josh Smith is a legend! That Flat V Guitar is so darn cool, I’d love to own one of them, very rad
Ha I see Josh is wearing the Julian Lage shirt I also got at Lage’s recent concert 🎸

Don reminds of my cool aunt Brenda that still smokes cigarettes and would buy me beer when my parents weren't home.
Yeah, he looks like someone's aunt with that hair lol
Great conversation and the interviewer actually knows what he's talking about without trying to constantly prove it.
It’s good to see good people get alot of work. I’m seeing you everywhere these days so thats nice. I love your playing and you’re a nice guy.
Sweetwater should do a contest where Don Carr goes to your place so he can find out what's on your pedalboard.

Josh you are an inspiration ... that Kingtone soloist tone tho' .. Dang !!!
I’m with josh on the batteries. Blue Panasonic my fav. Can’t find em in stores like few years ago
He has amazing touch. That tone! 🤤
Nice update of Josh’s board…I remember he did this with Andertons years ago
He was using the GigRig back then. Wonder why he replaced it
@@emdblues I couldn't imagine how you could replace a gig rig but im impressed. Its all in the line 6 looper and the morning star.

Waiting for sweetwater to get some chase bliss stuff. Especially the pre amp mkII.
Very interesting, thanks for posting, nice to hear a guitarists approach.
came for the Beebo, stayed for the SRV (et.al.) vibes
I really enjoyed this. Thanks guys
Love to see the MC8! I have an MC3 and love it.
Josh would sound with or without any pedal...;)
Love this series. Keep them coming 😀
Amazing board. Great playing and interview. Thanks 🙏
What is the case he is using!? I love the lifting top level that snaps in and out of place!
Nothing sounds better than an H9.
I love those pre amp MKII’s but they are super expensive! Worth every penny but so far my penny’s haven’t amounted to one yet…yet.
A split level pedalboard?!?!?! 😳🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
David Paich's alter ego! 🤟👍
Sweet and new That Pedal Showwwww oh wait this is Sweetwaters page.
What model is the actual pedalboard? Sorry if I missed it. Love the convertible top.

While you're at it, get your hands on a Pickle Vibe. You won't regret it.
Hes been having his sns sales quite a bit the last few months. Hes back just rebuilding his business currently. Order away!
I see four batteries. What pedals do they power?
I would say the 2 vemurans, soloist and he mentioned the tchula at one point.
Top 10 player on the planet
Anyone know who manufactures the actual pedalboard itself? That thing is rad with the latches.
Anyone know the actual pedalboard box/case itself?

@@matekerek1039 thank you!!

Josh! This is great. Can you share your electric mistress preset for the h9? Your Leslie preset is awesome
Stop the presses! This musician is playing with Joe Bonamassa! Oh he’s good!
They should call the tchula the teacher. Cuz it teaches you how to set the knobs on your other pedals
Awesome! Thanks guys
Battery 🔋 powered
Great show, thnx!!

Hendrix used Wah before Fuzz, at least in every book I ever read about his effects chain.
Thats what josh said. And that srv used the wah after fuzz

Well, not really when you think about it. But he does deserve a PhD for making it ! 😁

I dumped every pedal I own from my live rig.... SO MUCH BETTER... !!!
interviewer always interupting and comenting not letting Josh saying one whole sentence
