just did my 05 two day ago using your video. thank you for posting such a clear vid, still had to pull air box as coils were stuck to hell. video was a HUGE help. blew out plug recesses before pulling plugs and dust in ram air ports. bike runs tons better down low now. saw your other videos and gonna do valve clearance and gasket when the season is over. you rule!!!
Great video bro! Very detailed, I just got a 07 zx10r with 4k miles, dude had it sitting for 2 years and didn't ride it, she's rough on low rpms, I'm guessing bad plugs, dirty fuel filter or maybe clogged injectors? I'll start with th plugs first.... thanks for the video bro!
Can I get this job done from the top I mean lifting the gas tank or you think is easier the way you did ....once you remove those side engine mounts are you using any support for the engine or doesn't affect removing the mounting engine brackets at all to change the Sparks plugs ...thanks for your videos 👍🏻
You can do it any other way that you want, I just showed the easiest/quickest way of doing it. The engine doesn't need any support, if it did, I would show it in the video.
For most people lifting the tank is the preferred method. Plug 1 and 4 is a hassle but not too bad. Just have to angle the coils toward the front of the bike when pulling them out. They don't just slide out, you need to force them out.
@@jarreau2001: Are you sure 1 & 4 come out? I have a 2004. I tried today with tank & airbox off and the only way 1 & 4 are coming out is if you bend them approx 1/4" - 3/8" which the hard plastic is GOING TO BREAK. The sacks of shit at Kaw made the engine mounting bracket to be in the way on purpose so the fairings have to come off to remove the bracket so 1 & 4 will come out. There's plenty of room for the POS Kaw engineers to have made the bracket out of the fucking way!! These greedy scumbags want you to take it into the dealer and pay $300 fucking bucks to have it done.
Looks like the radiator and fan isn't in this motorcycle. That would make the job really easy. Otherwise, that left bracket 14mm bolt is a real pain in the but and damn near impossible without some sort of special tool.
I don't understand, either your hand strength is on an insane level, or I just have the hands of a baby. My ignition coils do NOT come out anywhere near as easy as you made it look
@@everydayirace I mean honestly with how the spark plugs looked, it had to of been a while. They were pretty bad. The air filter was completely black and and had bee's and flies in it. I think the previous owners didnt keep up on maintaince .
At 3:54 is where he shows the bracket that needs to be removed. If the scumbags at Kaw would have made this bracket diff, you could change plugs from top and get all 4 out. (only airbox removed, no fairings, brackets or stupid ass air switching valve removed. gas tank does not have to come off either, just 2 front bolts removed and tank pivoted up. Bracket is PURPOSELY made so plugs 1 & 4 will not come out unless bracket is removed. There IS room to have made bracket diff. These scumbags want it to be hard so you'll take it to the shop and be greased for $200 bucks or more to change plugs. When i get my bracket off, a relief will be ground out and a reinforcement (alum. piece w/ drilled & tapped holes w/ bolts) put on the back side to give it back the strength. Scumbag engineers are always putting people to unneeded trouble.
@@everydayirace You probably know better than i since i've only owned this '04. But i have owned 20+ other m/cycles. If these Kaw assclowns would have made the -'04-'05 bracket diff, then you can do it all from up top, PLUS clean or change the air filter while changing spk plugs. I find it easier to remove airbox rather than fairings and brackets. But i couldn't figure out to remove airbox until i watched another YT video. Kaw assholes made that confusing/difficult too. The airbox (as you probably know) has to be turned 90 degrees then lifted out.

Mint mate that was awesome and exactly what i was looking for - Cheers again
So the radiator does have to be removed prior to these steps...?
I’m working on my bike now. I still have my radiator connected. Do I need to take that off? Also how to if that is the case

jarreau2001 i think from the tank is the easiest way for sure that’s so much more work

@@yammerhaw101 was wondering if you ended up taking the brackets out after all. I have tank and airbox out of mine and didn't know if that's enough
No way do the coils come out that easy!!!...I’ve pulled on mine (gen 3) like a motherfucker every which way and they ain’t budging.
Me too. Fucking stuck!!

Everything on the ZX10R is easy but how many easy steps to get where you need to be could dozens of steps away.
👍
thanks mate.

If it's first time in 15 years that spark plugs are being changed, then I can see them being stuck.

04-05 were 1st Gen, there are a lot of things that just don't make sense, most were fixed on 06+ bikes.
