    I mean, you can shift perspective and make any protagonist evil. For instance, let's shift our perspective to that of Gary the henchman. Gary is the father of child dying of an unnamed terminal disease and discovers he can make more money in a week as a henchman than he did in a year as a construction worker. Things are going great for Gary and his daughter's condition is improving...and then the "hero" comes along. Shenanigans ensue and because the "hero" refuses to kill people, Gary ends up paralyzed from the neck down. Now if Gary had died his daughter would have been the beneficiary of a sizable life insurance policy, but since Gary is still alive and now unable to work his daughter's condition slowly deteriorates before his very eyes until she's dead and he's stuck staring at a wall for another 20 years being kept alive by some charity organization.

    The Dormin in SotC is never shown to be evil, tho. The elder who pursues Wander *says* the Dormin are bad, but all they ever actually do is make a deal with Wander to free them from their imprisonment. They even keep their word and revive Yorda despite being re-imprisoned immediately after being freed, as well as saving Wander from maiming, death, and imprisonment with them by reverting him to infancy. All we have to color them as "evil" is the elder's claim; everything they actually do in-game shows them to adhere to both the letter *and* spirit of their agreement with Wander.

    In fallout 4 if you side with the railroad and minutemen you can give an evacuation notice to the people of the institute before you blow it up. The point of destruction is removing the technology that is creating sentient robot slaves. The place is deep enough underground that it doesnt effect the surface world in any way. @DAMusic609 you obviously have no idea what the content of fallout 4 is. Much like the makers of this video. I don't have time to explain it all here, but no, your take is not even close. The point is destroying the the technology that creates a race of slaves while also kidnapping, murdering, surveiling, and opressing the citizens of the commonwealth. The people who live there all actively take part in these activities and are still allowed to leave before the technology is destroyed.

    A little-known fact about Fallout is that it was a spiritual successor to a game called Wasteland that came out in 1988. The creators of Wasteland were unable to retain the rights to their title, so they created Fallout to be stylistically and mechanically similar, while still being its own unique experience.

  • @cardsfanbj
    @cardsfanbj 8 месяцев назад +1

    As far as Fallout 4 goes, I really don't think you're the villain. Either you side with the Institute, who has no qualms about kidnapping and experimenting on the people of the Commonwealth, or the Brotherhood, who are basically raiders with power armor, or the Railroad, who are single-minded focused on helping Synths and couldn't care less about the humans, or the Minutemen, who are probably the best option morally but are the weakest force in the game. Yes, you demolish the institute by overloading the reactor, but you have the option to issue the evacuation order, and the only extra radiation is limited to the C.I.T. ruins, which really had no inhabitants aside from super mutants and raiders.
    I mean, I do wish they gave you the option of actually running the Institute the way you wanted, but they did kinda make it clear that the Institute as-is would never have supported a director that wanted to think differently.

    I wouldn't exactly say Talion is a villain Celebrimbor is absolutely one, but for Talion's case he merely didn't want to/couldn't die yet as he needed to hold back Sauron's armies, he only truly goes over to villainy in the Blade of Galadrial dlc and even then you can't exactly blame him for becoming corrupted by Ishildur's Nazgul ring as corrupting men is exactly what the rings were made for.

    One thing you have to wonder, with Shadow of the Colossus... Especially with the future game, The Last Guardian... How were the Colossi formed, to act as eternal prisons? Given the name of the future game, and the fact Trico is only roughly human sized, I believe, for the greater good, the humans sacrificed and caused the mass extinction of all the world's other Guardian creatures, using their bodies and souls to create the Colossi, their gestalt souls as Guardians used to entrap the parts of Dormin within a gestalt of bone and sinew bodies, each alone designed to have some protection from his physical powers, and the humans made each of them resemble the species they wiped out in memory of that species. The question is, did the Guardians volunteer for the sacrifice? The fact Trico exists, at all, tells me they didn't. As the last Guardian, at least one Guardian species has a chance to start over and survive.

    Always go Institute after my first play through of Fallout 4 where I tried that. Once you're director why not close down the Synth program and make the Institute do something useful? Also after seeing Desdemona's Railroad and Maxsons' Brotherhood the Institute doesn't seem so bad. The Railroad needs written instructions to find their own butts and the Brotherhood are power mad thugs with delusions of nobility. So yeah be the General of the Minute Men and Director of the Institute.

  • @sunayocarissime5309
    @sunayocarissime5309 7 месяцев назад

    Its one of the reasons why I use the Subversion mod for Fallout 4. Doesn't make a lot of sense to nuke an entire facility underground when Diamond City and Good Neighbor are literally only about a mile or so away from the epicenter. Kind of defeats the purpose of, "saving the Commonwealth." It leaves the Brotherhood of Steel kind of annoyed at you but at least you're able to save not only the Minutemen, but the BoS, Railroad and Institute all together. Bethesda really kind of screwed the pooch with the plot to Fallout 4. Even in New Vegas you had to option to spare all three factions so Fallout 4's original vanilla story is lackluster.

    (The Last of Us Part 2)
    The controversy behind this game was that it was subject to HUGE false advertisement (suggesting Joel is a playable character much more prominently).
    Similar to how Jess appears in the thumbnail to this video, but they have a different narrator. Sy does fine work as is, but largely not what we (the audience) were led to believe we would receive.
    This (talking about the game again) did not turn out to be the case. The developers of the game decided to deceive their audience and fans of the first game by killing one of the most beloved videogame characters in the first act after emasculating him, for modern day, political reasons. This gave us Joel's death, but they didn't earn his death. Then they force fed us a character we all hate in the form of Abby, because we are then forced to play as the insufferably written character who murdered our hero.
    We are not the villains for playing the game. Neil Druckman is the villain, and his weapon is propaganda.
    I say no more.
    (Fallout 4)
    Following the events of Fallout 3, where you have the option to nuke an entire town for 500 bucks, or screw EVERYONE over by poisoning the water supply, Fallout 4 plays less to moral ambiguity. Despite my appeal for the game, this is where it fell short for me.. Most of your actions don't really generate the same traction in this game's world.
    Institute is almost cartoonishly evil. Brotherhood of Steel isn't too far behind. Both are following extremist ideals, and cannot coexist. It's clear that the Minutemen and the Railroad have less 'evil' tendencies, and while they give you the option to nuke the Institute, you also have the option to signal evacuation for the scientists and their families before destroying their home. It's not until the Nuka World DLC where you can become overboss of three raider gangs and start unleashing them upon the Commonwealth to line the pockets of your murderous friends, as well as your own.
    (Skyrim)
    On one side, as you said, the Dragonborn CAN be evil.. But I think Parthunaax said it best "Is it better to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature?"
    Having a dragon's soul (AKA being dragonborn) doesn't innately make you 'evil', either. Uriel Septim VII, Martin Septim are considered to be dragonborn emperors, and yes I know they're from Oblivion, but they are not evil characters for having a dragon's soul. The player has the CHOICE to partake in evil actions, but this in itself isn't a certainty. Just like how joining the Dawnguard to fight the vampires isn't an evil act, or choosing to join the mages College of Winterhold, despite the Nords looking upon magic with great fear and judgment.
    Evil in itself, at least with mortal characters isn't an innate attribute.
    It's a description following their actions.

      There's no real hero on that game. All of them are villains except those infected.

    The description is basically that you are a group of mercenaries hired by a company to kill off the "hostile" wildlife on an alien planet so that they can terraform and colonize it. So essentially its Avatar and youre tricked into thinking the alien monster youre fighting is the bad character because they are built up like a boss so they can take you on 4v1

    The Skyrim entry really is a huge stretch. The only thing that is cannon is that you defeated alduin. They never said the HoK was the head of the fighters guild, dark brotherhood, thieves guild and the mages guild all at once or even at all. The only cannon events are that of the main storyline and the storyline of the dlcs

      I’ve never played Skyrim, but I know that you aren’t necessarily the villain as the player can CHOOSE to act villainous. It depends on which route you want to go down as if you want to be a jerk and side with the Dark Brotherhood or do you want to be more heroic and side with the more heroic factions.

    Got a few for you but, of course, are spoilers, so lemme space this out. And beware spoilers for Home, KOTOR, Alpha Protocol, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, Dead Space Extraction and Calisto Protocol.
    Okay, here we go.
    Home: Now, you're not inherently the villain at first, but by the end of the game you can conclude that you might actually be a serial killer. It's entirely your call (and convenient placed items).
    KOTOR: Let's be honest, I can't not mention this one given you're the Sith Lord with amnesia.
    Alpha Protocol: A half villain to be true, but you're playing into a cold war by being a patriot. If you decide to take over Halbec, the bad guys, or not is entire up to your choice.
    Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City: A low hanging fruit, sure, but you are playing as Umbrella's clean up and resource recovery crew. DLC will later let you play as heroes, but you're ultimate the baddie for most of the game.
    Dead Space Extraction: For part of the game, you actually play as a cultist to the marker. Now, granted, depending on your choices depends on how much of a scumbag you are, but you are ultimate a cultist who believes the marker will bring salvation.
    Calisto Protocol: You delivered the virus that caused the mutants you fight. Even in the ending of the DLC, you end up dying to provide information for future situations

    When did that stuff in Far Cry 4 happen? I had completed all of the side quests (except for the Shangri La missions, which I never finished) before I actually took out Pagan Min, so I had no reason to play, after killing him.

    • @bloodwolfgaming9269
      @bloodwolfgaming9269 8 месяцев назад

      As you progress towards the game's climax, you have multiple key moments where both Amita and Sabal have very different ideas on how to proceed with the Golden Path. And when it gets to those points, it literally makes you decide on who you think is right. Though I don't think many of those choses matter except for the final "Who do you side with" mission. Because after that, you end up getting a mission to kill the other if I remember correctly. Then, you finish the rest of the story, take out Pagan Min and who ever you sided with becomes the new "ruler" of the country.
      There really isn't much of a "story" after you kill Pagan. It basically just lets you keep playing if you want to explore the entire map and get all the collectables and whatnot. But yet...no matter who you pick, you end up dooming the country basically. Sabal is stuck in the roots of tradition, including marrying off underaged girls for the sake of carrying on "tradition" and whatnot. But it would ultimately lead the country to economic ruin. Amita would lead the country to be more "economically" prosperous, but only by turning it into a drug state. Yea, the country is more solid economically, but the Golden Path basically become drug lords with a lot of the citizens ended up becoming addicted and/or overdosing on opioids.
      Or you can get the secret ending at the start of the game. Spoilers ahead: The whole point of Ajay going to Kyratt was to lay his mother's ashes to rest. When having dinner with Pagan at the start, if you actually listen to him and just stay there, he comes back, takes you outside and lets you put your mother's ashes on a shrine, all while explaining how he knew your mother very well and cared for her dearly. Afterwards, he takes you to his helicopter so you two could spend the day shooting guns together and then the credits roll.

    I think you have the wrong TLOU game. You could argue Joel was actually the villain in the first game because he stopped their hope of finding a cure.
    Ellie's actions in the second game were all justified. Abby tortured and murdered Joel.

    • @duhmzdaih
      @duhmzdaih 8 месяцев назад +3

      Wrong. Abby torturing and murdering Joel doesn't justify genocide. Joel is the villain in the first game and Ellie is the villain in the second one. That being said, Abby still sucks as a character, Ellie's change of mind at the very end is nonsensical and TLOU 2 sucks overall.

    Keep making the same mistakes and I'll keep pointing them out the donkey Kong in the arcade game isn't the same donkey Kong that is in donkey Kong country we also know that the donkey Kong country donkey Kong was a baby at the same time as Mario because of the second Yoshi's island game meaning 1 the donkey Kong bloodline ages the same as humans or at the very least has a longer lifespan then normal gorillas because cranky Kong who was the original donkey Kong is still alive despite most likely being well above 50 which is the very end of a gorillas natural lifespan the point is the donkey Kong in the game isn't the donkey Kong from donkey Kong country and the Mario in the game isn't the same Mario that is in the morning games especially when you consider one is a carpenter the other is a plumber
