SecretYoungLink007 When David co wrote this with Jeff P. David said he watched a documentary in the 80's about Africa showing people who was suffering and dying. He felt moved by that and imagined himself there and what he would do when writing Africa. Jeff P said its a boy that is trying to write a song about Africa but has never been there he can only guess what it's like by watching tv or remembering the past. Africa is the best tribute you can do to that continent
So much joy.... Love for the beautiful ancient continent of the world from where the human evolved.... This song perfectly defines Africa.... This song must be whole African Continental Anthem.... This song unites Africa.... Love for my beloved brothers and sisters from India🇮🇳
Love 💓💖🙏 from France too !... I love You all, my over the World Friends !... No more borders, just on heart, just everybody hand in hand... Same blood in our veins... same love in our Heart, just the same feeling for Music.... Thank you Toto !...🙏💓
Although he's history now but i never got it why Luke brought back Bobby Kimball. Saw him with the band two times and it was embarassing cause when he tried to hit the higher notes the voice cracked and he even sang out of tune. In the early days his voice was great but clearly he didn't took care of it.
I suspect they didn't have proper monitoring to allow themselves to hear their own voice and match it with the other singers. These days most performers have in ear monitors. Really tightens up the sound overall.
OH MY GOD I CAN"T BELIEVE THEY ACTAULLY PLAYED AFRICA IN AFRICA🤯THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE
If Africa ever united...
this should be the national anthhem.
I'm sure band members of Toto never thought they would come to Africa someday.
RIP Mike Porcaro (1955-2015).

JEFF Porcaro
please
Perfect example of music having the ability the cross and unite different peoples and cultures. Simply outstanding!!!!
Coolest live version of Africa... 👌
One of the most beautiful songs Toto ever performed... it crossed the boundaries of so any cultures. God Bless you
Played live in its home continent.
+michael jagger I wonder if David Paich really felt it the same there then when he was writing the song.

Mike Porcaro was all about dat bass all about dat bass no treble!
May he rest in peace.
big like for this version...
Thanks for sharing.
this concert wrapped up the era of Toto with no lead singer

LOVEly.
omg the spirit there you see and are filling there
I think their live performance of Africa in Joburg is their best in my personal opinion.
♥️♥️♥️
This is what Martin Luther King Jr worked for
RIP Mike Porcaro (1955-2015)
RIP Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)
For this show more African type instruments would have made this even better.
Does anyone have the audiofile for this?
It's on the Toto XX album.
I would watch this than michael jackson's concert if i was born in the 80's
What a shame. It’s too blurry to see anything
I see everything though
Eh the female vocalist isn’t meshing that well. They sound like they didn’t practice together.
I think she's hitting her notes but he's having trouble with his higher notes.
Where’s Robert Kimble when you need him. ☝️

@@TheWorldTeacher his name is Robert Kimball not Kimble. and he was fired from the band because his ruined his voice due to cocaine use back in 1983.
@@Dynamo69420, thanks for the clarification, Sir/Madam.
