    I wear XL length wise growing up in a garage and my father and son being mechanics this would be great heck I'm going to even get me a pair. I really like not having the Velcro I'm a hot hands guy and hate bulky gloves. Thanks Sean for the info/great review ✌️

      Hey thanks for watching Rodney!! I hope you like them (I suspect you will). They’re certainly convenient and super comfy. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

    I own some of these and really like them. I wear them working outside and for shooting. The nice thing is you can just wash them. I still use the cinch down ones when is is colder to keep the cold air out.

    I use Mechanix gloves at work all the time...love them! Not the FastFit but regular velcro closure. I will have to see if the supply department at work can get these if they have bright colors. Need hi-vis colors for signaling a crane! Thanks for sharing brother!!

    Love the FastFit glove. Absolutely excellent. I have many pairs for various things.
    I have a pair for shooting, obviously.
    I have a pair that stays in my truck for driving (I fidget a lot, and will eventually break off (not bite) my fingernails, gloves prevent me from doing that)
    I have a pair that I use for literally anything else where I need light hand protection:
    - building a tool shed
    - loading up lumber
    - changing a tire
    ... so many uses for gloves, and the FastFit is outstanding and versatile

      They’re great aren’t they? And at such a low cost even if they only last me a year I’m not worried about it when we’re talking $15 a pair. Thanks for watching Michael, all the best! 👊🏻

      Dude I just saw a pair on amazon for $8.99!! (MFF-05-010 FastFit) They are black and gray, and have a red strap... but still, $9 even if you just have them as backup or in a dedicated system for some specific task, they are an excellent value.

    Great video,, I also dislike the Velcro fastening versions, mainly because the left one seems to make my watch feel uncomfortable, whereas the fast fit ones, don't do this,,..

    I like this idea of branching out the EDC stuff. I'm a fan of Mechanix gloves and I haven't seen this model yet, that's pretty neat. I wonder how well it stands up to cold (up in New England). If it had a pocket for like hand warmers I'd be 100% on board for semi-cold working conditions. Being able to message with them is a pretty cool feature too, being able to communicate with them is pretty handy. Always good stuff, Sean!

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 года назад

      Right on man, thanks for watching! They’re warm enough for temps in the 40’s and up I’d say. Anything colder and you’d want some winter gloves for sure.

      You know me Sean, I'm always checking in on your videos and it's great to hear from you. I'm tempted to push the gloves to slightly colder temperatures by slipping in hand warmers in, I also do pretty well in cold. I'm that one idiot in shorts and a t-shirt running track while it's in the teens out. It's nice to see the kit reviews in addition to knives. Peace,
      -Roman

    I will have to watch for these in a store to check for fitting, I'm usually a 2 XL with some brands. I also can't stand messing with the Velcro cinch tab/strap business. Thanks.

      Thanks for watching JP! I know that most auto parts stores sell the Mechanix brand gloves. Even if they don’t carry this particular model you may be able to try them on for size to see how the brand fits you. Happy new year!!

    Good video pal. I really liked the cut and dexterity of the mechanix gloves, but the pair I had didn’t survive a deer season in East TX. Found the synthetic leather didn’t provide enough abrasion resistance, and punctured a bit to easy vs. barb wire. Any thoughts on synthetic leather these use vs something like cow hide or deer skin? Maybe a possible video topic on gloves.
    I switched to leather, and especially found it a beneficial hunting here in CO in the winter, or running a chainsaw/axe. I’ve even go as far to keep two extra pair of Ozero gloves in my truck.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 года назад +1

      Yeah the palms definitely won’t survive hard use, especially things like barbed wire. I do like leather gloves. I have a couple pair of cow hid gloves that I’ve had for probably 10 years and they’ve held up. Not sure what brand they are, but they’ve always been my chainsaw gloves - I actually keep them inside my chainsaw helmet, lol.

    I’ve been wearing Mechanix gloves for quite a few years now, but I don’t think I’ve ever owned one of the fast fit variety. I may have to give them a try. I still like the original fabric the beat. I’ve found that the new honeycomb looking stuff on the backside of the hand isn’t nearly as durable or warm. But, they’re still pretty amazing gloves. I like them for concealed carry especially since I can shoot just fine with them on. I’ve tried other gloves for shooting, and I haven’t found another brand that provides as much warmth and still gives good dexterity/feel.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 года назад +1

      I totally agree on the shooting aspect. I’ve not found a glove even in this ballpark price range that I can shoot pistol and carbine with easily. And you’re right, the new lighter more breathable fabric isn’t as durable as the old school variety. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

    Are they hard wearing enough? You said you had that multicam pair for a year and they are worn out? I am not a heavy manual kind of guy, but that seems like a bit short life perhaps?

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  2 года назад

      They hold up pretty well. I wore them a lot during that time and did a lot of yard work around thorns/branches/etc. so I was getting them caught in stuff constantly. With moderate use I think they’d last much much longer. I have about 8 pair of them; one of which I’ve had for 5+ years and they’re still going strong.

    • @techwg

      @@GearedTowardGear1 I have a pair. Unfortunately they keep pilling up when the velcro on my flashlight holster catches them. Quite disappointing. Other than that they do seem good.

    Really liked the review of the gloves. I like the going into gear a little more deeply. The gloves look really good and you answered 1 bug question regarding touchscreen. My only remaining question is do they provide a cold barrier against the steering wheel?? Appreciate the link.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  4 года назад

      Hey Rick! They do provide a barrier against a cold steering wheel. Depending on what the steering wheel is made from they’re not the grippiest gloves ever, but I’ve driven with them a number of times. It’s definitely not a true cold weather glove, but I’d say temperatures in the 40’s and up & these are enough for me. Once it gets into the upper 30’s I’d want a more purpose built cold weather option (which Mexhanix does make).

    Hey Sean just wondering if you have any experience with Artisan Cutlery. I’m looking at getting the shark with copper scales. Are they any good,I know they’re heavy as hell but I’m looking to get knife that will match my copper flashlight and zippo. Something not to expensive. Suggestions appreciated

      Hey Big Al! Yeah, I’ve owned several knives from Artisan Cutlery and from their budget subsidiary CJRB. I haven’t handled the Shark but I’ve heard good things. One other option to consider is the Kershaw Copper Natrix. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
