My Oakley assaults have held up great on my weekly grocery runs. Can grip the frozen pizza with no problems and the knuckles are good for fending off people trying to take my free samples. 11/10

I’ve had both the outdoor research and the Mechanix mpacts and loved them both. It was easier to do fine manipulations with the ORs but the mechanix offered more protection. Once the Mechanix are soaked in sweat and form to your hand, they work even better before the seams decide to bust. If you’re military, both work great in the field or on the range.

I originally bought a pair of Mechanix FastFits as an airsoft glove, and they very quickly became universal gloves; I've used them for driving gloves, work gloves, outdoors gloves, etc... Basically, if there was any mischief that required the use of my hands, the FastFits were my go-to choice. I've even used them as light cold-weather gloves during the fall and spring.

All of these gloves seem to be suited for dry and warm places. From my own experience gloves need to be able to keep your hands dry for a whole day. When i was training in the Finnish Marine our excersises and patrol missions could last for 3-10 days out in the forest and coastline, none of those gloves would have kept my hands dry. Most of those gloves would be soaking wet after the first time I hit the ground for cover because of moss. In my own experience i find real leather palm gloves or sealskins to be really good. Leather gloves also dont get as worn quickly, all my other gloves worn out quickly on the tip of the index finger because of the stiff and sharp safety on the RK62

In my experience latex, vinyl, and nitrile gloves are the worst possible choice in cold temps. Sweat will kill you in the cold.

    • @slickmullet3891
      @slickmullet3891 4 года назад +2

Swan Ronson have you ever tried latex under your gloves to help stay warm like CJ Lange mentioned?
I think I’m with you on this one. It sounds completely counterintuitive compared to everything I’ve learned growing up about surviving in cold weather while hunting big game out west.
That said, I also do a lot of cold water scuba diving where my hands will be wet yet warm under my neoprene gloves so I do understand the point CJ Lange is making... to each his own I guess!

Got a pair of wileyXs hard knuckle gloves because you mentioned them. Got bit in the hand by a dog while wearing them and they did get punctured, I needed no stitches and the polymer knuckle absolutely saved me. The dog basically crushed my index finger and put a few holes in my plam, but if I didn't have that polymer knuckle protection I can only imagine how badly my knuckles would've gotten torn up. The gloves sucked at heat resistance and at like $90 they're not cheap but I'm so glad you mentioned them. Thanks for saving my hand dude!

Oakley Assaults lasted about 2 months into the deployment without tearing. Ive had 3 pairs and ALWAYS tear out on the thumb/fore finger seam
Ran MULTIPLE pairs of the WyleyX hardknuckles/removable. Great all around glove, good cut, with thicker leather you trade durability f/dexterity solid choice. Found an old pair of Blackhawk S.O.L.A.G. gloves still in the package while going through some old boxes and decided what the hell. Been great, pretty sturdy, paded knuckle is nice. I like the wrist support you get with the double velcro. Im a fan. Best feeling gloves Ive ever owned were Hatch Kevlar Shooter’s gloves from about 12yrs ago. They changed the material on the inside on the newer models and are no where near the same dexterity.
    Good review Flannel Daddy.🤓🤤

5.11 Taclite 2. Favorite gloves to date. 350-400 hours of long gun Picatinny rail use before holes developed. Could remove a suppressor quickly in a pinch but not recommend as a habit. Still thin enough to use touch screen and perform body searches. Breathable and comfortable enough for all day wear without having to take them off (20+ hours). Worked as an SOF instructor 5+ years.

I have a pair of leather Hatch gloves with a thin kevlar lining that is probably 15 years old now. I deployed with them, trained with them, jumped with them, etc.
The dexterity is about 4/5 (after breaking them it) but the durability and overall value is the best I've seen.
Note: I kept them away from bodily fluids and petrol but thats a given for any glove you want to keep.

I had two different pairs of Oakley Pilot. Winter and Hot weather. The hot weather(being MOSTLY leather) is very form fitting and breathes well. I love them, i use them for almost everything being that i have to pairs.
One for work as a contractor(shooting, searching etc.) and one for riding motorcycles and now that pair is being used for some labor work.
I got dragged by my bike recently and the glove suffered minimal damage. Very sturdy and robust, i swear by them.
The winter....i used them in my time in The Marine Corps, they served me well BUT dont put them in a washer/dryer. Especially if you wore them the fuck out..they will disintegrate.

I never looked back after I bought a pair of PIG FDT Alpha gloves. They are by far my favorite, with hard use they only last a few months but the dexterity and thinness is insane. Just like the delta's you can pick up change off a flat surface, but I feel like the FDT Alpha's are a little more durable. Highly recommend trying them out.

I would like to add a couple of suggestions. The Atlas # 370 gloves ( Amazon ) are great gloves. They are thin, fit tightly and have neoprene coated palms and the bottom of the fingers. The back is a stretchy knit material. I use them at work for some electrical protection from accidental wire contact. The gloves provide unparalleled gripping ability, really. They are not heat resistant or flame proof however they do a great job of protecting the hands. Another option are cut resistant occupational gloves. ( WW Grainger ) A stretchy light weight knit glove that fits tight with a rubbery gripping surface. Great for protection from wood and metal splinters, sharp metal edges like sheet metal, thorns ETC. I ware them a lot. Once again they are not heat resistant.

I'm pretty sure the touch screen capability is meant for civy shooters, or military guys hiding in a back corner on tinder. I don't know about the US but all of our mil gear in Canada that has touch screens seem to be resistive (detects based on pressure) as opposed to capacitive (detects based on electron transfer). Meaning it doesn't matter what you wear or what you choose to hit the screen with.
