@RobandLynnontour I will tkae them out and clean them with our carpet cleaner. It was so muddy at Wharfedale. I don't think any got into the carpets, but better safe than sorry.

O no frustrating to have to cancel the trip Bob ,we were sat in front of a nice wood burning stove when watching your vlog our new swift escape has the same heating system has yours so I rushed out as we keep our van on drive to 😮to check our van was ok has we leaves our heating on low set at 9 degrees all ok but it’s a bit of a worry that this could happen to a new van hope you get it sorted soon 👍🚐

Yes, that's true, we still love the Motorhome, so it's extra disappointing when something goes wrong. It does give us a lot more confidence when we have the support of a great dealer.
Check with Lynne and Rob as their van lost all their alde fluid in a similar way, also be really careful with the dogs as anti freeze is highly poisonous.
What a shame for you both, sorry to see this. Our dreadful UK roads are shaking our vans apart (my pet theory anyway) They need to build with more robust fittings, otherwise we are all in danger of being shaken apart. Truly hope your sorted and back out very soon xx

What a shame, we had real problems with our new Swift. Door under sink and panel above cooker fell off before we even got home. 2 screws hammered in one hinge and bracket bodged…first of many build issues
Apart from having no hot water, yes we could have used fan heaters, not sure how effective that would be in the cold, but we wanted to get our Alde fixed as soon as possible.
Just as well you discovered it now and not when you're up to your axles in snow in Scotland! I hope that you haven't lost too much money by cancelling your bookings. Hope that it's not too long before the issue has been sorted 👍👍
By the position of the pipe clips on the pipes I'd say they've never been clipped on fully. I'd have expected to see those spring clips around 6mm to 10mm from the ends of the rubber pipes so they would hold the pipe over the bead in the end of the alloy pipe. And those clips will not slide along a rubber pipe on their own, they normally have to have their ends compressed together with pliers to release them before you can move them. Be careful with that Glycol fluid, it's nasty stuff especially for dogs. Hope you got it fixed quickly so not to interfere with you trip too much.

Wouldn’t it be a good if there was an alarm or warning that would be activated in the event of fluid loss, it would shut the system off and save any further damage to the system. It was obviously not inspected properly during manufacturing and you as an end user would never think of looking behind kitchen draws.
Hope it is sorted soon for you. We have dropped our 2024 Kontiki off today at the dealer after traveling home for Scotland when about a mile from the motorway exit we heard a loud noise, pulled over just off the motorway to find the fresh water pipe had come off and was hanging by the electric cable.. we haven't hit anything or grounded out and had travelled 290 miles on motorway to get home.. They have put a claim in for already after phone call on the 2nd Jan for the new tank straps to be fitted under customer complaint recall !!! and will see if Swift will pay for the fresh water drain system to be replaced !!!!!!. lets pray Swift will do the right thing after all it is their poor design that is causing issues.
It certainly should be covered under warranty and your dealer should support the claim. My fresh water pipe was cut too short and is push fit, probably the cause of your pipe coming off.
I'm pretty sure if those clips were on properly originally, they wouldn't have popped-off. I've seen similar when a system freezes but that shouldn't happen with the fluid being anti-freeze. Is it that they weren't originally clipped-on correctly at the factory and over time with the movement of driving, the pipes have both easily worked loose? It would be very disappointing if that were the case. Quality control perhaps.
Definitely never been clipped in from day one Bob looking at your video,just shocked that the system doesn’t have a reset because it would or should be designed for events like this loosing fluid lucky it lasted this long, just make sure they damp test the floor because there’s wood in the top section not all fibreglass,but hope you both have a great new year all the best 👍
@ just seen caravan addys they had water coming in from the side marker light,definitely thought that the floor was all fibreglass I’ve checked mine and it’s dry but it will be similar problem with them all if not checked but hopefully you’ll be fine good luck
I had a similar loss of Alde heating fluid three years ago. I was advised to change my Alde fluid because it had been in for 5 years and I was told that it was due for a change.`I therefore got a mobile service man to come and change the fluid which requires all of the old fluid to be fully removed to get any sediment or rust particles out of the system. The new fluid is inserted and they had to make sure that there were no air bubbles in the system and that it could hold temperature. All was fine and I set off in December. I woke up freezing cold a few days later and the plastic reservoir tank was empty but it was actually difficult to see the level. To cut this long story short a second mobile service man came to the campsite where I was staying and simply tapped a pressure relief valve near the Alde fluid pump. A small piece of rust or grit was keeping the pressure relief valve open and it was dripping fluid on the ground. I had actually noticed some drips underneath before the service man arrived but I thought that this was my grey or fresh water outlet pipe dripping because they were located close to the Alde pump. The service man said that he had come across this grit problem before and so probably best to have your Alde fluid changed in the summer. The lesson I learned is regularly check your Alde fluid reservoir level and be alert after an Alde fluid change. I also have a 500W ceramic heater so that on a campsite I would not be without some heat. Perhaps my own experience might help others. However I love the Alde radiator heating system.
If they are in the right place, they are fine. Todds have said they want us to empty the lower drawers so they can check all the clips are fixed correctly.

Of course they can happen, doesn't mean it will happen, though. It's best just to enjoy the freedom Motorhomes give us and not worry what could go wrong.
@BobEarnshawMoHo Completely understand & agree but it would worry me sick if I was in another country as I'm still getting my head around all the different layouts in campervans & motorhomes + I'm not sure if I would cope with the worry about things like what's just happened to you as I had a stroke 4years ago & have cognitive issues & one of the symptoms is being able to cope with things like this going wrong but me & the wife are desperate to do this but its difficult to think about spending soo much money on something that will have issues like this!!😬🙁
I don't want to put you off, but need to realise things can go wrong. I can only help by sharing what you can check to stop things going wrong. A good dealership is vital.
Hi, we feel your frustration…we were away on the 27th supposed to be for a few nights in our Moho however discovered a leak from our water filter, tried to do a temporary repair job but it didn’t work and after one night we had to come home 😢…although given how the weather turned that ended up being a blessing.

That happened on my Bailey 752 the ALDE pipe under the step fractured and dumped all the fluid out then they found three other small leaks when they were fixing it

We had the same problem on our Bolero 714SB the boiler was under the bed we had alde fluid coming out between the beds. When they built the van they didn’t put the pipe clips on properly and the blinking hose just blew off the connector. So easy fix push pipes back on making sure the clips are over the metal pipe of the rad (ours wernt originally). We were lucky din have to refill the fluid.
Yes, unfortunately I lost most of the fluid, and it seems the circulation pump may be damaged as well. The 714SB was our motorhome before the last one!

Yes, they were fitted incorrectly. Todds replaced the pipes, like you say, they shouldn't just slide on must have worked loose over time.

Although the water is a separate system, you still need fluid to transfer the heat to the water.

It doesn't stay on permanently until it reaches the required temperature because it's heating the radiators, which then warm the air.

Yes it should have an alarm. I looked on the panel expecting to see an alarm, but there is no float sensor or similar in the reservoir.

If they are in the right place, they are fine. Todds have said they want us to empty the lower drawers so they can check all the clips are fixed correctly.
So sorry about your mishap Bob, definitely another poor or non existent PDI from Swift, they’re fast getting a reputation for it!!

It's not just Swift that have this issue, but it is a quality issue they should address. Thank goodness for a warranty!

The clips were in the wrong place. We transferred our Moffat booking to same time next year hopefully the weather will be kinder too!
Oh blimey this is exactly what worries me about getting any sort of motorhome or campervan & yours isn't even a year old yet you pay all this money for agro like this it's not on can you imagine if you were abroad somewhere this would make my blood boil!!!🤬 Sorry for this to happen & put a halt to your trip guy's!!😬☹️
It is a fact of motorhomes. They are complex things, and stuff does go wrong. That's why I share it.

Of course they can happen, doesn't mean it will happen, though. It's best just to enjoy the freedom Motorhomes give us and not worry what could go wrong.
@BobEarnshawMoHo Completely understand & agree but it would worry me sick if I was in another country as I'm still getting my head around all the different layouts in campervans & motorhomes + I'm not sure if I would cope with the worry about things like what's just happened to you as I had a stroke 4years ago & have cognitive issues & one of the symptoms is being able to cope with things like this going wrong but me & the wife are desperate to do this but its difficult to think about spending soo much money on something that will have issues like this!!😬🙁
I don't want to put you off, but need to realise things can go wrong. I can only help by sharing what you can check to stop things going wrong. A good dealership is vital.

Hi, we feel your frustration…we were away on the 27th supposed to be for a few nights in our Moho however discovered a leak from our water filter, tried to do a temporary repair job but it didn’t work and after one night we had to come home 😢…although given how the weather turned that ended up being a blessing.
Yes it's frustrating but hopefully will get it fixed soon.

That happened on my Bailey 752 the ALDE pipe under the step fractured and dumped all the fluid out then they found three other small leaks when they were fixing it
Yes always best to keep an eye on the Alde pipes.
Hello, this is not the first time I’ve heard of this type of poor finishing on recent motorhomes. I hope that this serious problem will be quickly and seriously repaired. Courage, it will surely be arranged in your best interests with or under warranty…. Kind regards to both of you
It's a warranty issue and will be resolved under warranty, thankfully.

I'm fine, we were both very tired after getting up at 4am. Going to drop the motorhome off tomorrow to get it sorted. Happier then.
We had the same problem on our Bolero 714SB the boiler was under the bed we had alde fluid coming out between the beds. When they built the van they didn’t put the pipe clips on properly and the blinking hose just blew off the connector. So easy fix push pipes back on making sure the clips are over the metal pipe of the rad (ours wernt originally). We were lucky din have to refill the fluid.
Yes, unfortunately I lost most of the fluid, and it seems the circulation pump may be damaged as well. The 714SB was our motorhome before the last one!

The clips are fine in the correct position.

As you were going to a site Why didn't you just go and buy a couple of 240v heaters ? No need to cancel the trip.
We want to get the Alde heating fixed, besides we would have no hot water for 5 days.
