The CRISIS of BARBIE || DECONSTRUCTION of “THE PERFECT WOMAN”

In the development of the movie, we see how Barbie experiences thoughts of death and notice the appearance of cellulite on her legs and the flatness of her feet. Also, we see the powerful dialogue of Gloria (the woman from the real world) helping Barbie to realize the lies she is believing.
In my opinion, we can see how the stereotypical Barbie embodies or tries to embody the tyrannical ideal of the “perfect woman” in two ways:
(1) The burden of the feminist utopia, that is, the felt responsibility of always having to embody all the right values to advance the social justice movement.
(2) The parasitic fantasy of the patriarchy, that is, the unrelenting standard imposed on women of being “perfect”: being charming, polite, and willing to do anything in bed, but at the same time, naïve, innocent, and submissive. In short, an “angel in the house” during the day, and a “prostitute” during the night.
This is exhausting and unfair. Thanks to this painful experience, Barbie goes through the deconstruction of this ideal that has been the voice of tyranny in her conscience.
