thanks Chris, received my class 50 and mk2f's this morning also, and getting a notification of your reveiw was the icing on the cake 😊, get well soon chris and thanks for another cracking video and your dedication towards our new scale. 👍
Hi Chris, I got a PHILLIPS PH1 screwdriver but it's way to thick between the wheels. Should it be a mini screwdriver and if so can you recommend a specific brand ?
I wish I'd pre-ordered these. By the time I'd driven home and got on line there was only Sir Edward E available. Still, that's been ordered and I'll just have to wait for the blue large logo. Great video as always Peachy, keep up the good work and get well soon.
Looking awesome Chris mine arrived yesterday but I’m in north wales on holiday for a week going to be a long week before I can open them up and get running them thanks for video they look brilliant cheers
I'm almost home, just another week to go after 4 weeks of touring. My box with Hornby 50 is waiting for me. I'm looking forward to this lovely piece of Garlic bread. 😁👍
What a great review. I have to wait for my 50040 Leviathan and coaches to be sent by Hornby to Rails of Sheffield and then for RoS to fulfill my pre-order
Wonderful Video. Thank you for this presentation. I'm looking forward to my Class 50 in Era 7 livery. It would be nice if Hornby would soon bring the Mk1 coaches into the Era 7 version. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
Received mine today. Could you cover adding a DCC concepts stay alive. There seems to be just not enough space at the top. Otherwise runs great. Really nice model.
I was really impressed with the Class 50 right up to the point the drive shaft fell out! It looks good with the tankers, unfortunately I didn't get that far. The Mk2f look great, mine are era 8 also.
@@PeachyTT120 Ran it in for about 2hrs swapped the mk2fs for the TTA tankers and it just sat there with the engine spinning. Found the drive shaft on the track. Running perfectly until that point. I've emailed CS for a returns number.
Success I attained Peachy level just installed my decoder before watching your video and I even put it in the right way 😝 and it was as smooth as yours
Hi Chris (and Snowy - yes, I know he's really called Teddy, but who doesn't love the Tin Tin stories?). I ordered the sound-fitted version of "Sir Edward Elgar", but sadly I'm still waiting for him to arrive (Stop Press: I'm lying, I bought the same one as you and it was due to arrive next Tuesday - but I've delayed delivery as I'm away). I ordered mine last July; if you had an affiliate link at the time, then apologies for not using it🥴. Thanks for the tip about that accessory part when fitting the decoder. Could Hornby really not design space for a stayalive? I see that "Leviathan" has derailed already (LOL).
Will be getting one of these. Just coming back to model railways after years and love the TT120 scale. Do you mind me asking what software you run them on? The PC control looks interesting and daft question - do the locos come with sound fitted as an option? Cheers Mark
@@MarkBatchelor-e4k hello, I use the free to download HM7000 app from Hornby. They sell two versions of each livery, “DCC ready” or “DCC fitted” the DCC fitted versions have a decoder & speaker already installed. Either way (pre installed or you fitting a HM7000 decoder) you need to download the sound profile within the app.
I’ve had 2 class 50’s and both lose drive at one end it seems to be a design flaw.. the drive system fails during initial run in.. so i gave up and returned them. I’ll try again after a few months. Hopefully they will have got rid of the problem.
@@T4Van-E-daycamp yeah you’re not the only one to have had this issue, I think it’s been diagnosed as an issue in assembly at the factory with the drive cup having been installed about 1mm to far onto the motor axle.
Thanks for your explaining of class 55. Can I use the bogies for my class 2900 of KTM? Is the distance of middle of the first and second axle and the second and third axle 23 mm? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hi Chris, just getting into model railways and bought same CLASS 80 as in video plus same decoder. First problem, what size screwdriver do you use to remove the 4 screws from the chassis ? Basic I know but I think I need to buy a set. John
Hello John. PH1 (Philips 1) NOT to be confused with Pz1 (pozzidrive 1) as that has a different angle of bit plus extra “teeth” which can damage a Ph1 screw head
Hi again Chris. I ordered a Phillips PH1 screwdriver but it's far too large to access the screws. Is there a measurement I need to get the right thickness to pass through the wheels and fit into the screw head ? Or better still, can you recommend a specific set to cover a range of needs ? Thanks , John
The paint work particularly on the green one is absolutely stunning. Shame about the “loose bucket of bolts” sound but I guess it’s realistic. Another reason I’ve no interest in diesels
Shame they couldn't get the brake shoes in line with the wheels,Farish manage it in N gauge,Bachmann in oo,but Hornby seem unable in any scale with their diesels, shame.
Yes I appreciate that for someone wanting these models to look spot on whilst on static display, although imo the fact the axle gauge is so much more realistic than any manufacturers OO or N gauge models is a winner for me.
Looks awesome. But once again, Hornby do NOT consider that people might not want to use their HM7000 system! I could see no speaker tabs on the PCB, so now you have to hope that the decoder has solder tabs for a speaker. Have bought 50040. but if this carries on I will not be buying anything else.
Received both DCC fitted plus coaches today. Absolutely fantastic, love them. WOW !!!
Yeah I’m thinking those pre fitted ones are slightly better buy. Probably why they’ve sold out!
Fantastic looking models and love the sound! Still waiting for my pre-order to arrive - hopefully soon!
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 😜

I have just seen several TT:120 Princess Coronation class locomotives in the Hornby store available for pre-order and I am genuinely excited
They even have the J50 and Class 66 too
Great to see them in action and dcc fitting. So tempted post seeing this video - thanks again Chris.

Great video. Many thanks. My Sir Edward Elgar also arrived today but not my decoder. I’ll be fitting that next week. Cheers!
Those little detail links were very tricky!
Very nice camerawork!
The size of your fingers gives me a good impression of the scale ;-)

Great video again. Hopefully get one next week if they’re still in stock. Going like hot cakes
They certainly are!
There's one thing that let's them down is the bright silver wheels but they can be painted.looking forward to mine arriving

Hi Chris. Me again does your class 50 seem slow mine does compared to the steam trains or is it me have the two of them and they are the same .
I don’t think so, but then I don’t run any of my stock particularly fast
Just noticed the toilet windows on those mk2fs look wrong
I’d not noticed… I’m doing a review later in the week on the Mk2f’s so if you could point me towards a reference that would be really helpful
