Hi this is Carl the landscape guy. Nice to see you again. Last time we took all the Koi out of my natural pond with a seining net. I'll link that video at the end in case you missed it. I put all of the Koi into the two foldable tanks. Seining and transporting the fish worked out very well and today we want to take a closer look at the Koi. I will determine the gender of the Koi, measure them and record the results in a table. I have also decided to try and evaluate the Koi, by rating them from 1 to 5 in two different categories, color and body. I would like to emphasize that I see all fish as part of god’s creation and regard all living creatures as valuable. Nowadays in some youtube videos, animals are mistreated in my opinion because they’re only concerned about more clicks on their videos. I do not support this and would like to remind you to manage your clicks, likes and comments responsibly. But I know that most of you do and I thank you for that! When evaluating the fish I intend to determine which Koi will be sold next and which will be set back into the pond. I can't keep them all because I want to maintain a good quality of life in the natural pond. To start off I will fish out the older Koi, because they will be returned to the pond. Since my Koi remain in the pond year round, they tend to be smaller than Koi kept in warmer waters. I also don't overfeed them in general. I want to sell some of the fish, so after sorting them I’ll put those into this floating net. To build this net you can find a video on my channel. I now put all the small Koi into one tank so that I have a free one for the Koi that I want to continue raising. I will always put some in the measuring tub to take a close look at them. I enter the data such as gender, length, as well as color and body shape into my table. I change the water in between, because it easily becomes too warm in the sun. It is a bit difficult to get the Koi out of the tank without them jumping out. But I want to do it as gently as possible. It would’ve been too much to film every fish, so we’re almost done sorting them all. You can write in the comments later if you liked this Koi selection video. Maybe you have a suggestion on improvements for the next time. So my selection and sorting is done for now. The floating net is closed with the lid against predators. Now the Koi from the tank have to be put back into the pond. I will take another close look at them. In total we sorted 81 Koi, 44 males and 37 females. On average the Koi were 31.1 cm long. I put about half of the fish back into the pond. For the other half of the Koi, I’ll be looking for a new home for them. I am very pleased about the beautiful Koi and am looking forward to see how they progress next time I go through the pond with the seining net. Some Koi escaped the net this time around, but hopefully we will get to see them in the future. It would be nice to take a closer look at the white Papa-Koi. There will be more Koi videos coming, but also videos about pond and filter construction. So don't forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching, and see you later, I’m Carl the landscape guy.

Hi Mr. Carl I love the way that you respect your fish. How you handle them with love and care. They are so beautiful I love the ones with the black on them very beautiful to me. Thank you for sharing your beautiful fish and videos with us. When you going to make a video when its feeding time. I know when it's cold they dont eat. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Koi videos you will make.
Beautiful koi
Big mamma is sooo awesome!!
The male With the Black dots Was a good fish to add some variety to the gene pool
I give the specimens BEAUTIFUL points.
I am so interested on your updates carl. Thank you. Keep it up ❤️ from Sri Lanka.
Great to see how you handle and touch the koi nicely. Looks like they enjoy it to bee in your hands.
@@TheOrangeVeen I know right. So good to see a video where they are handle with Tender Loving Care. And not just for dollar.
I've been a follower since last year. Your videos are good food for the eye. Funny, I was especially looking forward to see mama and papa koi. Thanks Mr. Carl

I am building a pond like this for koi
Keep it up Carl. You're doing what a lot of fish keepers wish they could do. I am one of them. lol. And I have a couple of koi fish myself. I wish I had a pond like that to keep them in.
How are the koi's today, can you post a new video?
Where is the white papa-koi? 🤔
Do you know how long I've been waiting for this video carl? 😆
Anyway, thanks for keep updating the koi
and I'm from Indonesia 🇮🇩
thank you very much for following along and thanks for the nice comment, have a great day
if you split up your Lillies and plant more of them it will help keep the pond clear as it cuts the light the alga needs to survive
Do you have any problems with mosquitoes? Thank you for your beautiful koi videos
Cool, have the Koi spawned again, since the original spawning video?
I like the look of smaller koi, better colours.
With you from the day these kois eggs hatched Love your vids sir😍🥰
what about putting colorfull koi in the pond
My only suggestion is maybe you can ensure the ones you sell are going to homes that they deserve. So sell them to people you know have great ponds and/ or people who will let you see the facilities they have.
They've been lucky to live in such a great pond with a great owner, it would be nice to know that will continue even as they change homes!
That's to much to ask of. Hopefully he just has good buys paying his asking price. Anymore questions would be insulting to buyers .
Hi Karl! I apreciate so much your videos! They where and they still are a sorce of inspiraton for me to boild my pond. I rechecked your old videos and in theme they where about 10 big fish and also tou aded some new small kois. Where are they now? Hope you will answer soon!:))
Build* ;))
Very nice video, I enjoyed a lot! A suggestion for the next video of this kind: at the end, maybe add some pie charts showing the male/female ratio, fish you kept and sold, average size, max size and min size, etc!
Love your videos. How do you tell males from females.
Where does Carl sell his koi?
thank you for sharing this
Hello Carl - Do you still have any koi to sell for USA?
Do you sell to the public? I am in Plant City FL and want to buy a nice yellow koi to add to my pond.
thank you for asking but I sell in Europe
Why only yellow koi???
I don't see any pond aeration so how do your koi survive?
Let me help you to answer this
Carl didn't use any aeration
He just try to simulate how koi live in their natural environment
But he managed to evaluate and control the water acidity, oxygen level and stuff
There for, he reduce the number of the fish in the koi to keep the balance of those parameters i mention above
@@mr.x2896 I have a natural pond and I lost over 20 koi in October 10 2018 during a hurricane and the power was out for days with no aeration.
@@davidrickards i feel sad to hear that you lost your koi
But since I'm not the expert about landscape things
I'm just trying to tell you what I know
I think there are some parameters why carl fish are survive in a pond without aeration and filtration
1. Wide area of the pond compared to the number and the size of the fish; it means you need to control the number of your fish because if your fish are too many it requires more oxygen and produce more organic matter (dirt)
2. Don't over feed your fish since it affect the growth of algae that consumed dissolve oxygen in the water, it'll harm the fish
Let them gain their own natural food from water plant, or frog or etc
@@davidrickards hopefully, carl could answer your question
where's daddy koi? The silver one?
maybe he was hiding in the mud I don't know he wasn't in the net, he's too smart
@@CarlTheLandscapeGuy He was shy... Thanks for your answer!
Are you selling those yellow koi’s or what? If so how much?? Hurry up ans reply!!
Great but my conclusion is to not buy from the net .. they are not that good hahah
Bro are they japanese?
